Oh, I'm totally doing it for fun. Still wanna show a little improvement though. I got too much other nonsense going on in life to get totally focused on it.

Which race?

Carrollton Tri Championships, July 19th.

I agree with you somewhat, Spokes. There is some pressure to compete, rather than just stay in shape, but people also need to learn to do things for themselves, not to impress anyone else.

Too many people get caught up in "keeping up with the Joneses" whther it be in life, fitness, or anything, that they lose sight on the smallest of goals they initially set for themselves.

But, I'm in NO hurry to start running again. I remember someone seeing me run while I was piling up marathon mileage and they said "You look like you're hating every second of it out there" and yeah, I guess it shows pfffft.

That's the thing. There's "training just to finish before the cutoff" and there's "training to fare respectably". I'm definitely in the latter boat. The former would be comparable to entering an ironman, and walking the entire run, just to finish. What's the point if you're not pushing yourself at least a little bit?

That's why I stay MOP. This is for me, not for anybody else. If I run a 6-hour HIM, who cares? I did it, solid MOPer, as always!

arrrrrrrrrggggggggg......had a terrible headache last night, and it's back this morning. Tylenol isn't touching it. Think it's my glasses, I think my prescription needs updated. Yet another thing that I can't afford at the moment. Blah.

likewise... I will almost always be BOP... I don't care.  I do this to get in shape.  I ran a 8:36 HIM... reading some of the threads in tritalk that might not count as a real HIM in some people's eyes, but screw 'em... the RD didn't shut the course down.  If he had, so be it, I wouldn't have finished... as it was I did.

btw Tony... I am so using the story of my HIM in my sermon on Sunday and you have a central place.
