Darn near froze yesterday, -15c with 40km/hour winds and snow. Absolutely brutal. Had to walk backward at one point. Was choked it didn't get to -18 for the 8 points but oh well.

Ouch!  That's cold enough for a temp, it's a bummer when the winds kick in!

They are calling for -17F by next Monday morning. Think I am going to have to find Brewer a jacket. I feel sorry for him when it gets that cold, although it seems to bother his feet more than anything else.

Do we have any volunteers to go sit on Lenny so he will rest, enabling some of us to catch up a tiny bit?

ANYBODY?

Friday night we had blizzard type weather, and my husband was calling me crazy for wanting to run in it.

Yesterday, I ran for two hours and cut my 3 hour run short because of pain in my left foot.  Going to get it checked out tomorrow, since I have had lingering pain since the end of November.  Thought it was my old shoes, but am running with new shoes now, so they shouldn't be causing it.  Probably overuse.

Another snowstorm today with possible accumulations by tomorrow of 11 inches.

come to IOWA...the land of POINTS!  Temps are supposed to drop to a high of 5 tomorrow.

Nichi

p.s.  I really do hope you get some rest, Lenny-do you see the chiropractor?  I have had neck problems and know they can be painful.

Lumber Dad - 2011-01-08 5:02 PM Pulled a muscle in my neck yesterday, went for a ski anyway and made it worse. Now every time a move I get a shooting pain in my neck, so I spent the rest of the day on the couch. The worst part is, I didn't get my long ski in today.
Sucks man. Rest well, it will heal quicker right?

Guess I don't know how to rest. Went out for a 45 minute run this morning. As long as I don't turn my head, the neck doesn't hurt. After all, it was -3F and I couldn't pass it up.

Be careful out there. You don't want the damage to be permanent.

We finally had a storm come through and clean out the air. It'll be good to head outside for a run and its cold enough for at least a couple of points.

I have seen these, but hated to spend + $30 for something I'm not sure he would wear. Maybe will have to see if I can find them cheaper.

Brought our dog, Cody, into the local pet store to try those booties on to see if she would wear them. Lasted about 5 seconds as she wouldn't put the bootied paw on the ground. Drama queen, that dog.

I saw a you tube video of a dog with booties on, was the funniest thing.

I've seen people trail running in the summer with their dogs with little doggie saddle bags and bottied paws.

I saw a guy this winter running with a dog with booties.  The dog was a medium size hairy thing, but with little tiny legs and tiny booties on each foot.  S/he seemed pretty happy with the arrangement.

I'd think one could fashion a booty from some fabric and velcro, twine, ziptie?

Here: instructions

We're supposed to get some snow over the next few days. I hope it leaves a bunch to make it worth the warmer temps. They're saying we're going to be leaving point earning temps until after the storm.

So I forgot to tell you but last week I am out running and it is like 1C - 4C can't remember, we had some mild weather there. Anyways, buddy runs by me, barefooted. I see him out during the summer barefoot but dude, there is still snow on the ground, although he wasn't running on it. I think my feet would turn to bricks of ice....

Maybe have to try it someday, would barefoot running be worth a multiplier of its own?

It's 8 degrees out, but the sun is shining.  Little bit of a wind, too.  More snow coming on Thursday!  My son even said he wants to go walking if I will do it with him.  Somewhere (I think it was runner's world)  I read that our sphere of influence is about 1,000 people!

I think my foot has been fixed by my chiropractor!  NO PAIN!  And I thought it was just overuse or something.

The temperature in England may not realise what season we are in (12°C), but at least the wind (23mph) and rain have the right idea! Most points I racked up in quite a while
