Happy new year all.  It started off well so far the baby slept for two 4 hour blocks so I got some good rest.  Got some fruit on the dehydrator and now I'm off to give a deer a dirt nap.  Hopefully follow that up tonight with a good dinner and trainer ride.  Yep I expect big things this year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here are my 2010 totals, which was my first full year of training in all 3 sports.  So this is the benchmark for me to build from.

Bike:73h 08m 44s  - 758.31 Mi
Run:103h 28m 01s  - 540.29 Mi
Swim:51h 02m 36s  - 110317.3 M
Strength:32h 21m

2011 numbers are already on the board with an 11 mile run this morning.  Great weather (50's, sunny, NO HUMIDITY, but some wind) this morning compared to Thursday's run (70's, 80% humidity....).  I really enjoyed the first long run of the year.  It is also my last long run as my half marathon is two weeks from tomorrow.  Woo Hoo!

Hope everyone is having a great first day of the year. May 2011 bring new PR's in good health with a lot of fun mixed in!

fattyfatfat - 2010-12-31 3:23 PM so on my ride today i'm sporting a 310 care of trevor.  (long story, thanks again man).  i'm wearing it under two long sleeve shirts and then my gloves go past my wrist, so i can't see the thing, nor do i want to at this point.  so off i go.  first mile,  it vibrates.  hmmm, i didn't think i was going this fast.  cool though.  second mile same thing and i just kinda stop thinking about it.  actually start wondering why on earth someone want this thing to vibrate all the freaking time.  so i get down to  mile 6, look at the watch and damn, it hit me.  i should have paid more attention at mile one.  this thing is on km's not miles.  i still suck!   and i'm not sure how on earth i didn't pick that up at the first km.

ha!

ROFL!

Does it play O Canada after every mile?

While wearing it does it make you want to end every sentence with eh?

etc, insert the rest of the Canadian jokes here...

That's good, so now you'll know your proper pace... not that mph crap :P

Race planning question:

I have a half marathon in a couple of weeks for which I would like to figure out how to plan out a race strategy.

Any suggestions on links to guidelines on planning for a race to as pacing, zones, etc. based on goals.   My main goal is to improve on my first race last month.

sdalessio - 2011-01-01 1:54 AM As far as New Year's resolutions, I love them but haven't had a chance to think about them for 2011. Guess I better get on the ball there. Anyway, I had a bunch this year and I met some and not other's. One of them was to cook a really good beef stew. I even asked my mom for Julia's Childs French Cooking cookbook last year for Christmas. I've made plenty of stews but they always lacked a full bodied flavor. So the entire year goes by and no time to try it out until tonight. I started this morning by making homemade beef stock then prep the stew for the oven and finish with the buttered mushrooms and braised onions. I'm happy to report it was freaking awesome. Goal accomplished! :-)

half a bottle of cabernet into the stew and the other half into the cook is the right way to start...

So true!

I couldn't agree more with both of you.

Cept for the part where you said it plays OH CANADA after every mile. It would play it after every 0.62 miles.. you know at EACH KM...

HAHA

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

I started it out with a 4.5 km run in the rain and I would like to say cold but darn it was 51 degrees F here today. The snow is melting like mad and the rain is washing away the rest.  Great way to start the new year with a run to Gramma's house for lunch with everyone.

When is the race?

If you have time, I suggest doing a "FTP" 5k and then use that number to figure out your Vdot.  Once you enter your pace in the calculator link attached below, it will give you pace numbers for all sorts of distances of races.  I have used this process for a while and it is amazing how accurate the numbers can be.  For example, my last 15k, I was withing in :01 per mile at the finish and right at my breaking point......

Yep, I have a brace on right now, taking Aleve 1x day and doing leg lifts.  I had this many years ago when I was "jogging"

It kind of crept up on me, always have little aches and pains nothing major.  Knee felt a bit off last few runs but then went away.

Going to rest it up this week.

I think I just blew my diet!

MIL came over and cooked blackeyed peas, fried hog jawl, collard greens,  cabbage and potatoes, corn bread and chicken...and topped it off with a blueberry pie.

Happy New Year Everyone!  Excuse me while I pass out from a blood sugar coma.
