I couldn't live most places on the East Coast but NYC is an exception. I'm betting Boston will be great too. I've always been a huge fan of big cities though. The people here are fantastic, too. That part was very unexpected. Asalzwed - 2013-04-09 8:58 PM Gah...New York. I could live here. Yup. Really? I hate the East Coast. Ok - Hate is probably to strong of a word, but I could never live anywhere on the East Coast. Visit - sure...live, no way. (The Navy put me on the East coast for 4 years) I have met many an East Coast transplant that love it here, but when I lived there, I rarely met someone from the West coast that didn't want to go home. That IS surprising to hear. My guess is that it has a lot to do with the person they are conversing with! You are very likeable. I'm so excited for your race! Awwwww Race, race .... what race? NY is a good distraction technique! I do have to head to the track today though. |

They are having a grand time. if you really wanted to find them hit McDonalds, they will surely be there. OMG LOL! Are you sure they aren't at the oversize TGI Fridays in Times Square? Either way ... |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED jobaxas - 2013-04-08 10:22 PM wow a facebook curveball. Andrew piglet bike coach has an ex I believe i mentioned we are 'friends' well mainly if I see her at an event or squad we chat, we are friends on facebook etc. I can't say we've socialised EVER. Today I get a message from her saying if I don't stop posting about how wonderful Andrew is and how much he is helping me etc she will have to block me on facebook. She works hard at removing ex's from her life and doesn't need the constant reminders. WTF! I have not responded. Really - a little childish I thought and I have no idea how to respond to that. Any ideas manatees? To be honest we are hardly friends, if she blocked me without telling me I would have taken months to notice. OK, I'm late on this, but here you go. I agree with what Felicia said, and she stated much better than I can. I have figured out that we have very little control in life, be it at work, at home, with our family/children, or in a lot of other places. What we do control is our reaction to the things around us. And really, that is one of the few things we control. Facebook, Twitter, social media is just an extension of that. I can only control what I post, or my reaction to what I read. And your friend needs to figure out that the issue she is struggling with is not with YOU and your posts, but with her reaction to your post. It is on her to control that, because she sure isn't going to be able to control everything that everyone has to say. I wish her the best and hope that she can make the necessary changes to make her life better. |

It was so magical that I kind of want to move home just so I can run there every day. It just made me want to keep on running, but unfortunately I had to go home so I could go out to breakfast with my mum and sister for yummy pancakes It feels like it doesn't matter what happens today its going to be a good day just cause I got to run by the beach as the sun came up. God truly did make us a beautiful world. What is wrong with that sentence. Unfortunately... yummy pancakes?! |

On another note, a HUGE black man at the track named Kiki just told me he'd like to be my running coach. I know this offer was genuine because if he had ulterior motives I don't think he would have told me his name was Kiki |

Clearly you were hanging out with the wrong people! Seriously! Don't be hatin' - that's a broad statement to rule out an entire coast! It might also have something to do with the fact that it was 1993, I was a 21 year old "kid", I was in the Navy and I was STUCK in Virginia... LOL I experienced, first hand, a very overt racism I had never seen before. I traveled through the south and saw segregated towns. I traveled up the East Coast from Virginia into New York City and then to DC, Philadelphia, Cleveland etc and I found every Big City to be to rushed for my taste, the traffic was horrible (Especially NYC) , and I personally found the stereotypes of people in the big city to be pretty accurate. That doesn't mean that people were not polite when I spoke to them. I also thought that, compared to the West Coast, it was rather flat and brown (especially once you head East). Upstate New York and Connecticut I found to be beautiful in their own way, as were parts of Northern Virginia. This was just my experience, and because of it, I could never envision a world where I would actually live anywhere on the East Coast. Even the beautiful beaches of Florida. Great to visit, but I could never live there. I'll take the Green Mountains, Thousands of trees, and giant rivers of the west coast any day. My statement was made mostly tongue in cheek, and not meant to insult anyone. Now - visiting Manatees and experiencing the beauty and history that I know exist on the East coast... You are on! I would love to travel back to New York and DC as an adult. I would love to visit some of our national monuments that I didn't have the same appreciation for back then. In a perfect world, I would win the lottery and travel there to compete in triathlons, meet manatee's, and do a bunch of sightseeing. Road trip anyone? |

And Virginia is certainly a whole 'nother world from where I am in Boston...but if you're coming east ever, you really need to add Boston to that list! It's such a great city, big enough to have tons to do but small enough that you could walk across it in a few hours seeing sights. But don't bother coming in winter - UGH. |

CND= cool Scargill blew it cos he was too cocky. I was a miner (and management trainee) during the strike, indeed i quit during the strike and wrote off 5 years of my life. Not that after she finished there were any mines to go back and manage! And now we have the most expensive energy in our history. Pure genius. No politician should be allowed to govern a country, they are all too involved with their own needs and wants (mainly continuous power), plus some of them are just bloody stupid. I'm certainly not the expert on smart training decisions (aka, I ran a half on Sunday with a month of training), but given your long stint on the DL you don't want to over do it. I think that's how a lot of people get reinjured, by getting to excited about feeling good and then going too hard too soon. It sounds, from the posts, like you had an awesome race last weekend and are riding high from that, but don't go overboard now that you are feeling better.
