Erin:  They offer pickle juice at some century rides here.  I have never tried it myself though.  Sorry about your crazy Friday but glad that you got pictures of the kiddo with the dogs.  Good work on that long bike ride over the weekend!

Felicia:  Even frozen, I don't think that pickle juice sound that good!  Yikes!  Flooding!  So glad that you are OK.

Jo:  Glad that the no sugar no grains lifestyle lifestyle is working for you!  I read a long time ago that the key is to "count something" whether it is calories or steps or fat grams or…  I expect it's just because then you are working within some kind of framework.  The 30 meter pool sounds neat!  I'm glad that the Coach Mark session went well!

Kate:  I was thinking of you as we were driving home yesterday and I am afraid that Piedmont Triad airport is closer to the NC Zoo than RDU.  If you do end up coming to the conference and flying through RDU, definitely let me know!  I'm glad to hear that your parents are doing well.

Yanti:  Thanks for sharing the protein requirements for athletes.  That was a good refresher!  Congrats on being asked to RD the quadrathon too!  For goodness sake, GET HEALTHY AND STAY THAT WAY!   Japan is the one place you have no tri friends YET.

Monica:  I'm sure that you rocked the wellies!  Congrats on being a Betty!  I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Great Illini.

Salty:  I think that you could really rock that gold and velvet bike in Milwaukee!

TJ:  Glad that you enjoyed your race and that Fi didn't let you down!

Ann-Marie:  I'm glad that you had fun at your race.  Sorry about the dorked up results!

Judi: Welcome back!

Melanie:  Glad that you had fun in Lake Placid.  It sounds like you are having a whirlwind week between the hockey tournament and the car situation and Lake Erie trip!

Tom:  Nice race!

LOL!  Of course I rocked the wellies - now if I could just find a way to make them shiny and sparkly...   Cool

I'm now coveting a Betty bathingsuit... this could be bad for Tony's wallet.

I got a few friends in Japan these days through Macca - you need anything while you're there let me know and we'll network you out of the crisis.

Japan's the one place I've got no tri friends. OWS friends, yes, other friends, yes, but nobody who'd be keyed in on where to get a bike part or something like that.

a PRO, james Hodge got there for the half and both his tires had exploded - one of the Macca tribe got him new stuff in time for the race.  Anyway you haven't forgotten anything and you are going to be an IM.  for shizzle.

WOOT!!!  Yanti's gonna ROCK IM Japan!!

Okay... Chris has put a bit of a bug in my ear about applying to be a "Betty" for the Betty Designs site - and I kinda want to do it, cuz how else will I ever know if I can be a Betty or not?

My big concern is that I really don't have a "social media" presence - I don't have a blog and I'm not on Twitter or Tumblr or anything, but I AM on here... a LOT (don't tell my bosses).  Do you think that will suffice?

I feel like I have some important news to share ... durrrrrr travel coma ... oh yeah!

The King Man is moving in in March. If we haven't dental-flossed each other by April, including on a long Third-world style road trip out to the prawn farms (YES I REALLY AM A SHRIMP FARMER), we'll probably get hitched.

SWITCHY -- sorry, I have not heard of those wheels.

Also, Sheila does not require fly, although she (like me, for that matter, and an awful lot of really good coaches) strongly recommends TRYING. You can do other strokes or modifications or alternate drills that she suggests.

Bottom line is that looking at a marathon-type plan for running, which frankly is awfully close to the type of distance and frequency over time that anyone wanting to really get good at any endurance running, needs to do, it looks like a LOT. Same is true for swimming, and thus Sheila’s Swim Speed Workouts.

I am betting that I will not make it out to NC in September after all. Boo on that. I just don't have the $$$ and the zoo doesn't seem to have the funds nor care enough to send me. Oh well, guess I'll have to write another article that will get me a bigger award down the road.

So this weekend I am taking part in the Spartan Beast in Beautiful Monterey....and then I am going caving/spelunking the next day...cause I am a little bit crazy. Foot in mouth Super exciting though! A friend has set up the trip to help raise money for cancer research, e provides the gear (and expertise) and I pay $25 and play in a cave; simple, right? Oh, apparently there is some 400 foot rappelling involved plus a big ol' swimmin' hole involved...so, climbing, rappelling, swimming...fun! (I hope!)
