A work out plan is just what I need, especially on the swim and bike and I think the idea of your book is awesome. My goals for 2010 are to be more organized, stop biting my nails AGAIN, and to come to some kind of understanding with my bike. See.... the two of us don't get along very well - she hurts me then I avoid her it's a pretty disfunctional relationship. My goal is to spend more time with her and make our relationship a cohesive one with less pain and less avoidance. Can't we just learn to get along??? On a very good note - I got in the pool this morning and fell in love all over again! |

Real resolutions... Try to give up ALL carbonated beverages... diet sodas, lo-carb monster energy drinks, sugar-free redbull, et al. Water, tea, coffee, (maybe some milk... preferably Chocolate after my long rides)... but no more carbonated crap... except beer (although I will cut back on that as well). Be much more disciplined & focused in regards to training and nutrition. I will be slightly leaner, more effecient and hopefully faster in all three events this season. That's all I am admitting to for now. |

Triathlete Nation ~ Texas! | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Nicole ~ great story... I have a co-worker who has been researching his Uncle (Dad's brother). he was a pilot who dropped parashutests (sp?) over Normandy during D-day and various other locations before & after that. His unit was the one portrayed in Band of Brother's. Anyways, he has learned some wonderful things and discovered a book about the unit, where his Uncle is pictured and mentioned 5-6 times. Good luck with that endeavor! B & EvD ~ safe travels... New Year's Eve in New Orleans? Sounds like mucho funno! Enjoy the Sugar Bowl! (Shark Bites, Handgrenades, PO's Hurricanes, etc... in moderation kids!) No plans this year for moi... working a second job from 5:30p-11:30p. So I'll get home just in time to wish the wife & kiddos a Happy New Year! Time to get back to work, since I will be off tomorrow through Sunday... I will try and check the posts and hit some TL's (need to dol out some inspires for all you dedicated non-slackers out there working it ~ unlike my slack-o-licious self)... |

I LOVE Bikram yoga. Haven't been in ages, but a new studio just opened up nearby and I'm looking forward to getting back to it....although I am dreading the first couple classes. I remember when I first started, it was all I could do to stay in the room and not toss my cookies. I haven't worked out all the 2010 goals, but Bikram is going to be part of it. |

The book will be one that's loosely based on my grandfather's life. He was a decorated WWII war hero, prisoner of war, guarded the tomb of the unknown soldier, etc. When we were kids he told us the same war stories over and over again until we were crazy. Now, at 90 years old, he's in the advanced stages of alzheimers and most days is lucky if he can remember how to speak. But he had a really interesting and amazing life. If I can ever get my act together to write a fictional novel that is historically accurate (thus the research) I'm going to publish my version of his story. KelliD - 2009-12-30 10:39 AM Good resolutions!! No backing out of races in 2010! If helps I offer to hound you relentlessly about this What kind of book? Nicole83 - 2009-12-30 9:53 AM Sugar bowl eh? Very nice. NY resolutions for me are actually not very triathlon related. Because 2010 is going to be another insane year of change and moving around, I'm just going to set a few goals. I want to race in at least 4 races in 2010. I'm horrible about registering and then talking myself out of doing them at the last minute. I want to start taking guitar lessons. I've wanted to do that for a long time, and now is as good of a time as any. I'm going to finish the research for a book I intend to write someday. I also plan to never miss a birthday or milstone as it relates to my family. I'm the queen of belated birthday cards. Need to get better about that. Nicole, what a great way to remember and honor your grandfather. A quick suggestion on the birthday cards...been there done that. Hated always being late. Now, in addition to putting the dates on the calendar I buy a TON of fun cards and keep them in my desk. I also keep a few sympathy cards for those occasions they're needed. Found it much easier than having to remember to find the Hallmark store. |

Veteran 199![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Ocean State | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Nicole83 - 2009-12-30 9:55 AM Oh, while I'm thinking about it- Back in the old mentor group when we actually posted about training related stuff ( We talked about having someone post a bike and a run workout each week too that we all could do if it made sense with our current training structure. If everyone's up for it, I would really like to start doing that again. Having a structured workout to follow in the pool that I don't have to put a lot of effort into finding is immensely helpful to me, and probably would be on the bike and run as well. I nominate anyone but myself to come up with the bike/run ones. Very cool idea, especially the swim workout. I'd used swimplan.com before when I actually went to a pool...and it worked pretty well. However, we have some swimmers in this group that understand tri specific workouts that can help even better I'm sure. |

Even if it never gets published, have a few copies printed and give them to family members. It would be a great way to document and keep your Grandfather's stories alive and a great way to pass the stories down to future generations. |

Extreme Veteran 521![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Eric, Betsy... safe travels to the Big Easy! I sure wish you were going to Pasadena next week instead. Have a great time, regardless...hopefully the good guys can get a win on Friday. I was able to get out and run this afternoon with no knee pain...the issue I had on Monday was probably some flukey deal with some DOMS and the cold...but I had a little anxiety as I headed out the door this afternoon. I'm such an A personality that I can't stand the thought of not finishing a workout I start. No resolutions for me...I always have the outlook to try and make the most of all the opportunities presented to me. Overall, I just want to have a great year and experience all that I can in all aspects of my life. Tonight is poker night in our household...hopefully I can come out on the plus side and invest in some new running shoes with my winnings. I have a strategy for how I am going to play and feel pretty confident. As long as I don't get tired an hour into the game, I like my chances. ![]() |

Payson, AZ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!Determining Run Training Zones In running we want to know our heart rate training zones as well. To make this as easy as possible, we will use a standard 30 minute TT. From this TT we will be able to determine the correct training zones. This is best if done on a flat uninterrupted path or trail. Run test protocol: After a 15 minute warm-up of easy running, finish with a few quick 20 seconds bursts to get your heart rate in the correct training zone.
15 minutes easy cool down. |
