Member![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Meulen - 2012-05-06 12:08 PM I'm back! Pretty much did exactly as planned. I got a 1:32:10. According to my garmin I held a 6:56 pace. But my garmin said the course was longer than 13.1. So my time slip says a 7:02. I guess either way I was right about on my goal. That was was enough for 11/102 in my AG and 71/2500 overall. My wife brought my dog, who I was totally happy to see at the finish! Overall, good day. ![]() Time for some RR and some pancakes! I'll right the race report later.
Awesome on doing so well. I always would love to take my 2 dogs running but they want to stop and sniff everyt little thing. If I had to do a 5k w/ them I bet my time would be around 5 hours. LOL |

Ken, I don't think it will help any of us if we went to bed early the night before with your wife. I'm just saying! LOL I had to do that, no disrespect meant. I am finishing up a HUGE paper that I HATE right now for school. I thought it would be finished prior to dinner tonight but it wasn't and my WONDERFUL (insert a lot of swear words here) GF just read it and thank God she did not use red because I think she would of cut herself with a knife if she had. Onto make some corrections. Did not run today because of this but going to get up at 6am and run then. How did you do on the paper Peter? Did you get it done?
I am 80% done with the paper. I just need to clean it up a bit. Of course this threw off my training last week. Worked on this paper solidly for 3 full days so no run or biking. Did go out this morning and did 3.35. Will go running in the AM also, and if I can a little bike ride also. I'd like to do at least 10 miles on the bike. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() CyborgQueen - 2012-05-06 1:57 PM BACK!! 1:55:39. PR for Irongirl Triathlon (800m/22.5k/5k...the swim is a little longer than most Sprint triathlons) by 12 minutes. Definitely some room for improvement, especially the swim. :-P Swim - slightly sucky, but whatever. That's what I get for not swimming! :-) Bike - FASTEST BIKE SPEED for all of my triathlons! 22 minutes PR! Whahooooooo! Now it's time to get some TLC time with learning how to use aerobars! Run - Hilly...yuck. Didn't do as well as I wanted, but PR'd exactly 1 minute for a triathlon 5k. I think the hills kind of killed it a bit. Best of all - I did NOT get CLOCKED in the head nor suffered from calf issues that I've had the past two years' Irongirls!!! RR is being typed up as we speak. Way to go D.J.!!! |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks Peter. Unfortunately, I could only have 1 of my 2 dogs there today. My wife can't handle them both. I would love to take them running with me. But they are 10 and 11 years old now and I almost never run shorter than 4-5 miles. I don't think they would make that. ![]() |

Congratulations!!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry I have been MIA lately, just not enough computer time anymore. Training is going pretty well although i will say that the oppressive summer heat is setting in around Central Illinois and I am definitely feeling the effects. Trying to get out and run in it when opportunity allows. Today the heat index was hovering in the mid 90's. Just couldn't see myself getting a quality bike in, so I defaulted to the trainer. I did something to my shoulder yesterday while moving a big heavy pot (we have been in major yardwork/gardening mode); lost balance, twisted and kind of tossed the pot. Hoping it is just a minor sprain, but I opted to skip a swim workout today. I am somewhat worried about my olympic distance in two weeks. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() russrisher - 2012-05-05 8:26 PM I did my sprint today - it went really well and was a well organized race.
I'm pleased overall with my performance. My swim was much better, but this was my first open water swim and I totally lost my form when I realized that I couldn't see in the water - definatley something to work on. I was able to pass several people (this race was about 1/2 first timers and almost all beginners and I put myself towards the back of the time trial start), but the form break down caused me to be "huffing and puffing" when I got out. The bike went a little slow at first due to the strain of the swim, but I eventually found a rythem - I passed several people, but it seemed like everyone that passed me was in my age group. Little slow to start the run, but again, I found my footing and my second wind and I'm almost sure that I ran it in negative slits - I was able to muster a sprint for the last 150 yards or so. Really enjoyed it - this was only my second tri and I made a big step forward from the first one. I don't have my results yet because I had to get out pretty quickly and they aren't posted online yet - I will do a RR after I know my times. Awesome! it sounds like you ran a good race and even better that you had a good time! |

LOL My dog does too. She would just cross my path and sniff stuff like crazy! I play "Hide and Seek" with treats with her...she loves that game. As for running partner, she sucks. :-) |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yeah for all the PRs!!!!! sounds like everyone who raced this weekend had great results - CONGRATS!!! I look forward to reading the race reports.! I hope the shoulder isn't anything serious Anne, I know how aggravating that problem can be! You could send a little of that heat this way, we had a warm winter and a cool spring so far. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was just starting to work with our pup teaching her to run with me. We got out for a couple of short runs and she did ok once we got away from the heavier traffic areas. Unfortunately she caught kennel cough at day camp and is a week into the treatment. Any time she gets running now she gets coughing and has to stop. Hopefully in another week or so she will feel better. Heading to the trainer this morning, who else is training today? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey everyone, I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday but I finished the race. Which was my first goal. At about mile 19 I knew I was going to have to readjust my time goal. It was a long race but well worth doing.
Might do it again one day - but not this year.
PS - Thanks for all your inspires, I'll post a race report as soon as I can. |

VERY COOL Adam!! Finishing a marathon is a HUGE accomplishment in itself. Keep that in perspective! You should be proud. It probably hurts today, but you should still be proud! |

It doesn't get easier with the next one, but having the experience will help you get better prepared. You should be proud of your accomplishment!! Recover well! |
