blueyedbikergirl - 2013-04-16 9:48 AM Somehow managed to sneeze and cough at the same time.  My back seriously hates me now.

I know this very well, and there are still days that when I lean over to wash my face, I feel like I am going to not be able to stand straight up again.  Sorry M, I feel you on this one.   If your leg goes numb and you fall down a lot...should seek a good surgeon. Cry

Ugh - Cheri, I know that pain too.  Or the pain of sitting on the bed and trying to put on your socks and you just can't because it hurts too much.  Thankfully no numbness in my leg - just searing pain. Yell

Did you try the foam roller(lying on it with you spine pushed onto it) and yoga Cobra.....those two things would relieve the pain for me at some level?!!?

cobra is the worst pose in all of yoga.  i can't bear to do them when my back is bad!

I know, but the pressure it relieves from the lower discs is emense, you dont have to go very high.

The foam roller hurts so good!  Cobra pose is an absolute no-no for me as it does nothing but intensify the pain from my injuries.  I actually can't lie on my stomach at all without being in pain - makes it difficult to tan my back in the summers!

There is a the blue stuff in the sky today.  Not real sure what it is, but I think that I have read about it in text books when I was a kid.  Could it be an actual real life blue sky?

Surveying was elementary.  Seismic?  Rough.  I'm 50/50 on how I feel.  I wouldn't be surprised either way.  But I would be disappointed.  I never failed any significant exam in my life.  This might be a first.

BUT!  I was using studying and other stuff as an excuse to stay on the couch.  I'm planning to start a running plan and drop some weight tonight...

So I did the brain fart of all brain farts that culminated in a VERY interesting scenario last Friday.

I had to go just South of Richmond, VA to give a talk last Friday.  Since it costs a small fortune to go directly into Richmond, I got a flight to DC, rented a car and drove down.  Anyway, I've known about this for a while, and the wifie was in NYC at the same time and about a month ago, when I booked the flight, we were originally going to meet in NYC and I would book multiple one way flights.  That fell through and I just booked, what I thought, was an in and out.  In Thursday, out Friday.

Yeah.  not so much.  I was definitely in Thursday.  That went off without a hitch.  And on Friday, as I'm driving back to DC to go to Reagan National, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting access to the flight I thought I was on through my United App.  Well, that is because for some god foresaken reason, I booked the return trip for tomorrow, not last Friday.  Yep.  I didn't even screw it up where I was a week off, I was 5 days off.  WTF!?!?!

So I calmly walked up to the ticket counter.  Explained my situation.  Patiently waited for the ticket agent to stop laughing.  She nicely informed me that I would get charged through the nose if she did it so she phoned the Premier Hot Line for me.  I then explained my situation to the woman on the phone.  I again waited patiently for her to stop laughing.  And by some miracle, I was actually able to get on the flight that I thought I had booked.  I literally got the last seat on the plane.  2 hours before it was scheduled to take off.

Now, I know I'm getting older, but jeez o'pete!!!!  I've never done that kind of crap before!  So now I'm submitting my expenses and HOPING finance will ok it.

i did something similar when i went to vegas for my sister's wedding.  i was debating taking either the sunday redeye home or a midday flight monday, knowing no matter what i was taking that monday off of work.  i ended up scheduling what i thought was the sunday redeye.  when i got to the airport to check in i was more than 24 hours early and could not...apparently i had not changed the date during my many kayak searches and booked the MONDAY redeye instead.  of course they could do nothing for me, as the sunday redeye is the most popular departure from vegas, of course.  extra night in vegas and a really awkward explanation to my boss for the condition i was in at work tuesday morning, and hours late.

Typical United Transfer fee of $150.  And it was hella cheaper on United than anywhere else.  Richmond was quoting $960 for an overnight flight.  Before my screw up, this was $217.

Your resident airhead.

How much was it? I'd certainly catch hell for that. Plus, Reagan is extortion pricing anyway. but, Hotwire is good with me for hotel brain farts. I've moved tons of times and they either refund or give me "hotdollars" to use for my next booking. I book 100+ nights a year through them, so...

Typical United Transfer fee of $150.  And it was hella cheaper on United than anywhere else.  Richmond was quoting $960 for an overnight flight.  Before my screw up, this was $217.

That's not terrible. Or as Sir Charles says, "turrible".

It's the fare increase which usually is the killer. You'll pay that day's fare which is usually 3-4X what you booked at. Ouch indeed.
