Master 2009 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed CyborgQueen - 2011-11-12 1:06 PM Back from my race. The Race Director (the mom of the girl with brain tumor) expected 100 people ... Over 250 showed up. PR'd by 3 mins. Not much but I'm happy to finally be sub 11!! Struggled with maintaining my breathing and had terrible side stitches. I am starting to seriously suspect that it's because of the milk (even though I had it 2 hours before the race). When I did the 7 miler two weeks ago, no stitches, probably because I only drank water and had a gel half way. Would have done faster for sure. Just a fun race, and to prep myself for the HM that's coming up. Now i know what works better for pre-race meals. No dairy!! GL to the other racers today!! Woohoo for PRs!!!!! I wouldn't be able to give up dairy for anything long term!!!

Elite 3072 san francisco | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed Ever feel like a dork...but then everything works out fine? This morning, I rolled over and looked at the clock, saw it blinking, must've been a power outtage, then grabbed my polar watch off the bedstand and saw 6:15. Quietly slinked to the bathroom. Yikes, overslept, gotta get dressed to do my run...gosh, it's dark out...maybe it's because of the rainclouds...brush teeth, get dressed, grab some water and head out...dang, it's really dark out, put the reflector bands on my arms...can't find the headlamp, figure it'll lighten in about 10-15 minutes, get the shoes on...head out...30 minutes, still pitch black, wtf? Run the 3 miles out to the lake, nobody is there, not a soul (or not a human soul)...Run the 4 mile loop around the lake, well, it's maybe a little lighter, but still, hasn't the sun been coming up at 6:40 ish??? My brain finally kicks in and figures it out...never changed the polar watch to dst...never looked at the kitchen clock...it was 5:30 when I left the house!!!! omg. dork. But, i got to work on time...so it's all good...and Ripley got an extra long walk. Have a great weekend, everyone!!! |

Awesome job Rachel! :-)
Oh me either - I'm BIG on drinking milk. During my milk craving days, I would drink a gallon of milk within 4-5 days. Now my craving is over (I don't know why I was craving for it, but it was just a weird feeling), I still drink milk now and then, milk in tea, cereal with milk (which is what I had this morning), and ice cream last night...oh yeah, don't get me started on cheese. Regardless of my love of milk, I think it doesn't agree with me when I do runs. Didn't have that much problem last year...weird body. Edited by CyborgQueen 2011-11-12 2:05 PM |

Champion 5522 Frisco, TX | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN fast, furious, and closed couple of updates: First - I did my first 10k this morning without having to swim and bike first..... Guess it is automatically a PR! 1:00:44 according to my Garmin. Results not posted on line yet. Went out a bit faster than I planned on and paid for it the last two miles... lesson learned. On the flip side, the first 5k was faster than my PR 5k from two weeks ago by over 30 seconds - so yippee there! Second update on the BL contest - ended up in 4th (just out of the money - contest paid 1-2-3) Officially I lost 50.1 lbs over the 12 weeks which was like almost 18% of my starting weight. Funny that amount of loss would have won the last contest, but two folk lost 25% and one 21%. Now on to phase II - the next 20lbs. They will be harder I am sure. But I have to get it done - I have to weigh less for next season - losing those lbs is like free speed or free endurance....

That an incredible amount to lose in 12 weeks. Keep up the good work. Nice job today racers. Sounds like PRs all around.
It was really fun to just go and be his support person and this was his day. He ran his 3rd 1/2 marathon today and it was even more meaningful for him because he is a vet himself--USMC. Semper Fi |
