It'll be ready to go as well. Daniel - I am a newbie - how does soaking the wetsuit help ? does it may it more flexible? thanks in advance Emilio DeSoto posted on here that it is a good idea to soak if you haven't used it in a few months because they get dried out and can tear more easily if they are put on in that state. At least that was my take-away from that post. There might be more to it but if someone who makes these things says its a good idea, I'm happy to follow along blindly :-) |

Take the sponge beside your sink and fold it in half. Now leave it alone for a month and fold it in half. Now soak it in water and fold it. Not the same material but the same idea, a wetsuit gets more flexible after its soaked overnight or all day and left to dry out a few days before your race. The only time I've ripped a wetsuit is when it was hanging up for four months prior to race day. Since I've followed his advice and soaked it a few days to a week prior to race day I've not had a rip.DanielG - 2010-11-08 8:57 PM Wellp, the wetsuit is in the bathtub for the night, soaking. DC | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Back to the booty call... but for the bike. I rode Saturday & it was prob 35 w/the wind. COLD! So I got an Underarmour cold-weather base for the race. Now I'm thinking a booty call for the bike. Neoprene? Seems like overkill. What about these? |

So I got an Underarmour cold-weather base for the race. Now I'm thinking a booty call for the bike. Neoprene? Seems like overkill. What about these? It looks like it's going to be low 40s for the beginning of the bike, warming to upper 60s by the end. I'm thinking toe covers and socks is all I'm going to wear but I'll have the full booties in the hotel room, just in case. -er- this isn't a booty call... That has to do with two willing adults and less clothing than we normally wear even in 70 degree weather |

So I got an Underarmour cold-weather base for the race. Now I'm thinking a booty call for the bike. Neoprene? Seems like overkill. What about these? i was thinking that i may take some old atheltic socks and pull them over my shoes to block the wind and when i did not want them anymore, i could easily discard without concern of carrying them..... Even if I am only able to cover my toes, i think that will block enough wind for the 2 hours or so until it gets warm enough. I just have to make sure I can get the sock on without covering my cleat. I don't think it will be a problem. If that does not work, then I will probably pick up some toe covers at the expo on thurs/fri. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Good luck everyone! I did IMFL and it was below 40 at start, in 40s start of bike and just up to about 61-62 as high of the day. Figured I'd share what I wore. Best is to trust what you have done in similar weather so you know what is right for your body and how hot/cold you get. I went with over dressing and be okay with throwing things off at aid stations if needed then being cold as I hate cold and it effects my cycling. Wear socks or better yet throw away slippers that have rubber soles to swim start, sand is temperature of air and 35 degree sand is cold. For bike this is what I wore Changed tri top to dry one added arm warmers bike vest-in case warmed up and didn't need jacket light weight bike jacket that was wind proof leg warmers wool socks toe covers head band full finger mountain bike gloves with cheap stretchy gloves over I was chilly to start but comfortable most of the day. About mile 70 took of light jacket put it in my vest pocket. About mile 85 pushed arm warmers down. Wind on run at far out was really cold so used that jacket again had gloves and head band in sn I put on. |

Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Now weather is talking about high 30's for the sun rise with high 60's for the high of the day. Sounds like tights, cold gear top, bike jersey, toe covers and real socks to me. I agree with KathyG about the sand being cold plus the run across the street, booties for the swim |

Tribee Just meet me at Blockade runner at 7:15am and I will drive you back to your car when we get out. The way we get out is one person just hops out and one person sits in the water giving folks a leg to hop out and we all get nice and quit no mess no fuss. I am taking two other people back blockade after the swim and you all can through your wetsuits in my trunk. Call me if you have questions. I have your number and sent you a message the other day and gave you mine. |

Transition bag, two helmets, tackle box with basic bike repair stuff, all of my race gear that I even MIGHT want/need/desire. Probably won't use 80% of the junk in the pic but I'd rather have it and not use it than have to rebuy it. |
