Regular 161 Brighton MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I raced my first race of the season yesterday. Got a half marathon under my belt to start, and it was pretty good. The conditions were awful, plenty of rain and wind on the cape this weekend. It was a lot of fun though, we had a huge group of people, 10-12 people racing and a lot of first timers to. It was a blast. I finished 1:39 @ 7:35 pace. it was a 10 minute PR from my last half marathon, which was last years course. pretty pumped about that!
I dont have any totals on my right now, on the computer at work, I will post some totals of the week tonight. in the mean time, THINK SPRING! |

I guess it's part of the IM "experience" but I think I'd be happier if folks were spread out just a little bit. |

Really just stopping in to check Rusty's smack talk. . I am doing the James plan this year. It's comprised of many swim sets, lots of hills on the bike and a lot of base running. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together on July 28th. Someone said 22 week to go? Hmmm! Smack talk? Nah, everyone in this group is too nice for smack talk.... Although I did recently read on the main boards that Cornick is aiming at a Kona slot - I suppose we could talk about that? |

Oh, they are going to have a wave start at IMLP this year regardless because the swim will not be wetsuit legal. Also it will help everyone get nice and spread out before the climb up whiteface mountain.(How am I doing so far, James?) |

So all you have to do is draft off of James on the swim, and I will try and draft off you if I can (as big as you are it must be like cruising behind a supertanker back there!). With James making the pace that should guarantee we all 3 swim a 50:00 flat for sure. Now all we have to do somehow figure out how to get in the same wave.... |

Still on that swim/run focused plan, and I hear the course is nasty. I am starting to think maybe Boston wasn't the smartest idea, but it sounded great when I BQ'd in 2011. At the time I wasn't even thinking about IMLP, all I'd done was some sprints and an oly! And then the bug hit... I read your profile and had to laugh. Great quote: "I hope to carry this 50 year old body to some former glory." Thanks for saying what I think every day |

Extreme Veteran 490 Higganum, Connecticut | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I was curious, so I asked about the swim start at the 2013 IMLP, and here's what I got: Erin Erickson, Feb 27 02:52 pm (CST): Hi Todd- Thank you for reaching out! We will send various email blasts to the email address on your registration as the race approaches, but the race specific Facebook page is a great source for updates, questions and any information you might need! Also, after substantial athlete feedback and as part of our commitment to providing an unparalleled race experience, we are currently investigating various swim start scenarios around the globe. However, at this time, no changes to the swim start have been made. We ask that you stay posted to www.ironman.com for any future announcements. Please let me know if you have any additional questions and I am happy to help! Happy Training! Erin Erickson |

New user 13 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I was able to find the 'official' event page of the race. Although it looks like it's been updated once since last year's race, so not sure how helpful it would be. Given how far in advance they announced the change to a wave start for IMCDA, I'd hope WTC would give similar notice if they're changing up any other races. --Dave |
