You will catch up with the training, you've been there already so the body still remembers, just give it some time. It's also good to change the priorities from time to times the need arises. Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success Joe-Glad you are back, I'm sorry and congratulations, talk about a balance by extremes. I had to scrap my Oly Saturday. A horrible Friday spilled into Saturday, and I couldn't do it. We were supposed do pick up our exchange student from Japan Friday afternoon, but several cancelled flights from Chicago, bumped her to Saturday. We had no way to contact her. The poor kid was given 5 minutes of email, but by time she translated the English instructions to Japanese, her 5 minutes was up. She did not know how to use a payphone (which we discovered none of my kids have ever used a payphone and they don't know how to). So she sat at the gate and cried all night. On our end we had every bad scenario going through our head, we couldn't get a hold of the people in charge of the program. They wouldn't send security to check the gate because she just turned 18. The airline would do nothing to help. We did not sleep. The travel agency was able to find out that she was booked to fly the next morning, but had no way to look for her at the airport. The travel agency flew someone to Chicago to find her the next morning. The agent bought her food and sat with her until her plane for Michigan took off. I was up most of the night Friday trying to locate our exchange student, plus we had to go back to the airport to pick her up mid morning. I'm in for August 1:00:12 OWS Mitch 01 04:10:06 Mark 01 00:30:00 Gabe 01 02:02:53 Mark Z 02 02:00:00 Dennis 01 00:35:00 Jackie 02 05:28:42 Jim 01 1:00:12 |

353 Conroe, Texas | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success Hello my name is Dennis and I am a TRIATHLETE!! I finished my first Triathlon today and I couldn't be happier with the way it went. I finished the with a time of 1:20:04, 302 out of 1200 overall and 58 out of 119 in my age group. Coming out of the water alive was exhilarating, I took my time, relaxed and stayed calm, trying not to run into people. I finished the 550m swim @10:58 with a 1:58min/100m which is a vast improvement from a couple of months ago. Once on the bike I started out faster then I planned because I think I was caught up in the moment of the competition. I came to my senses around mile 3 when I remembered what my friend told me on the way to the race, "ride the ride you should, not the one you could". I dialed my efforts back to the 20.5mph range telling myself I was saving my legs for the run and really enjoyed the ride. The run turned out to be the hardest on me, I did some damage to my left hip 3 weeks ago on the bike and did not run at all since trying to heal before race day. Transitioning from the bike to run went well but my legs felt heavy and I did not want to push too hard because of the hip. Overall the run went well and I really enjoyed the whole event and I'm really already looking forward to the next one. (BT.jpg) Attachments ---------------- BT.jpg (155KB - 4 downloads) |

Veteran 419 clayton | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success Joe - congrats on the work and optimism - welcome back! Jim - what a nightmare, glad it all turned out ok.. Dennis - congrats on the first Tri and awesome performance. Jackie - I cant pull any B2B favors but will keep an ear out for potential spots - there's always the full :-). Everyone else - hope you not having as eventful a weekend as some of us!! Adding a run from yesterday which due to lack of consistency means I again have to walk to keep HR below 140 :-( Mitch 01 04:10:06 Mark H 02 01:30:00 Gabe 01 02:02:53 Mark Z 02 02:00:00 Dennis 01 00:35:00 Jackie 02 05:28:42 Jim 01 1:00:12 Funny story - I was looking for new running shows this w/end; store was sold out; so looked at clip on bars; didn't have any decent stock. Happened to notice a FELT S32 tri bike while I was walking out door which happened to be my size and 35% off; so I bought it instead :-) #christmashascomeearly. Master 1609 Gold Coast Australia. | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success 1.5hr run in the mountains today after work. One hell of a run. Steep up and down almost all the way, at times 14%, only a bit of the course was flat. Today I was just checking the course for the upcoming Mountain Challenge 21k. I might even sign up. Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success Spent yesterday driving to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Nothern Ohio and back (2.5 hours each way). No S/B/R. Just tons of walking and fun. Expert 1255 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success Dennis, big congratulations to you. Be sure to fill out a race report. It's fun to go back and look at them on down the road. Mark H, congrats on the new bike ;-) Jim, so sorry that you missed your tri, but I think your priorities were right. It still stinks! She must have been so frightened. Mark Z, ouch those grades sound atrocious. So I signed up for my second HIM. I will be doing Miami Man on Nov 9. I'm excited because the run is through the Miami Zoo with the animals. I think that will help to break up the monotony of running without music. I plan to do a full IM next year sometime. Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Consistency Equals Success I typically like to workout in the morning - but my bro-in-laws boys are sleeping in the basement, therefore trainer ride is out. That means workout had to be moved to evening, but no shortage of events going on in evening. Hope to cycle later today and run in the morning then hit the pool tomorrow at lunch. Next week is tougher due to camping trip. Looking forward to some [cold] open water swims. |
