Jeepguy2358 - 2009-09-25 4:17 PM So, to make things very interesting, I decided to be a complete DA and not watch were I was walking and twisted my ankle yesterday! It hurt, but not too bad. I thought it would go away overnight, but did not. I can walk right now, but with a slight limp. I've got ice on it, taking advil and am hoping the it does not swell. It doesn't look like there is any swelling right now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Talk about bad timing! Now things have evened out a bit...could be a close race now Hope it works itself out. I am trying my best not to get sick. I think I am a hypocondriac...I remember feeling like I was coming down with something before my first oly. Does beer count for carbo loading? |

Post race, great recovery tool. Not really, but better than before. Chris--do you have a brace you can put your ankle in to help with stability and reduce swelling. I am a total clod and have used one often when twisting my ankle. I am keeping my fingers crossed you will do be fine! Totally agree with Birdy. This is a big, exciting race weekend for the MG! |

I am a total clod and have used one often when twisting my ankle. I am keeping my fingers crossed you will do be fine! Totally agree with Birdy. This is a big, exciting race weekend for the MG! You know, after keeping an eye on it for the past two days and icing it, there doesn't seem to be any swelling. Unfortunately I can feel I stretched something up the side of my right calf. (I rolled my foot inward.) I had a similar injury in high school. I was laid up for eight weeks with stretched ligaments and tendons all in my foot and up the same area of my leg. (Obviously then it was 100000000000x worse.) I know it's still just weak. More RICE tonight. I'm going to try heat and a massage tomorrow. Thanks for the advise Suzy and Birdy! Barry, it's kind of like in golf - you mysteriously have an injury the day of a match and ask for more strokes - only to be fooled! Get rid of that crud you've got! |

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! wow too many posts to keep up with it great to have such an active group. My wife and I are off for a week vacation. Heading south. I hope to be able to meet up with Tracy on Monday and grab a bite to eat with her and Doug. Then onto to Myrtle Beach.. maybe. No specific plans. I think I have to get back into training. Friday night my right calf spasmed so hard it woke me from a dead sleep. I grabbed it and it felt like all the muscles in my calf had jumped to one spot and were trying to break through my skin. I have never had one of those before and don't want another. It felt like a grabbed onto a lump of stone. I took about 15 minutes to clear up. I went to see the doc on Saturday and we figure it must be a lack of calcium and/or potassium. I haven't been taking in all the nutrients I was when in full training mode so I paid for it. I seem to have to learn these things the hard way. Anyway it is feeling a lot better today. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend and next. I don't know where I will end up each day over the next week so I don't know if I will be checking in. Have a great week everyone.
