Anyone have Barry's bib or last name? Reno8, Steve Williams is also doing it and got out in 35 minutes! Barry Garner... HOLY COW IS RIGHT! Out of the water in 25:40!!!! NOAA is showing the river is still well below flood stage. They might have gotten a little help from the current but not where I thought it would be after all the rain. Great job fellas! Expert 1231 B'ham | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! Finished my run in 1:46:23 (Garmin time, not sure what the chip time was yet) for the half (13.25 miles per Garmin). My goal was 1:45, but this is cool given the tendonitis a couple weeks ago. I feel like I executed my plan perfectly and could maybe have gone a little faster. The course was much improved over last year. |

Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! Great job Roni, Barry and Chris. You guys are awesome! Can't wait to read all the details!!! I am back from Duke. I will call it Sir Duke from now on....gotta respect it with all those hills! All and all the day went well. Weather called for morning showers. I woke up and the first thing I did was go outside. Nice cool, foogy morning, but no rain. Ha, that lasted about 25 minutes. When the rain started up I began to question why and I doing a "training day" in the rain. And then I remember a wise man reminded me the other day that FL may be wet. So off I go, with the windshield wipers saying "stupid girl" with every swipe Rained for the swim and some of the bike. Got some wind on the bike and the dark clouds threatened the last 1/2 of the ride, but no more rain. Sun came out for the run and baked us I will write up a RR once the info is posted.......I know I went a 5:53 (which is a PB by 31 min) but not sure about the splits. I am really anxious to see splits, and I've got stories for each leg...which I'll put in my report. I can say that I did have fun out there Saw Doug there volunteering. Talked to him for a bit, then headed home to see the kidos. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! |

Expert 1010 Greer, SC | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! Hey everyone. Just got home an hour ago. I had such an awesome race today! I can't even begin to tell you. It includes everything from an awesome bike, flat tire, some really nice blisters and of course I got to meet Barry! I really enjoyed the bike course. It was a bunch of rollers with a few climbs. The run was such a festive atmosphere! I felt like I was in a parade. Most of the streets were lined with people everywhere! The swim was with the current. It was moving at 1/2 knot. That is the only area I am a little disappointed in. I never felt comfortable in the water. I'll work on a report and get it up tomorrow as well as some pics. If you are looking for a 70.3, I highly recommend Augusta for 2010. Edited by Jeepguy2358 2009-09-27 6:59 PM |

Expert 945 Auburn AL | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! Thanks GANG for all the virtual support here. I made it back home. First I need to say that I got to meet Chris and anticipated spending more time, but I had to bail on a dinner invitation and get some sleep the night before. I am back at home and a little beat, but feeling pretty good. RUNNING SUCKS. Had an AWESOME time and I'll have to agree with Chris that the venue and race was put on first class and the spectators were great. I'll have a race report up in the morning and i'll say it again...RUNNING SUCKS! (or mine does anyway ) Edited by Plainsman AU 2009-09-27 10:44 PM |
