One last thing.

Linda congrats on the swim . I think you should have just knocked the woman down who beat you across the line for t he swim. A little push would have done it.

Suzy. So sorry to hear about the accident. It really is sad that so manylives will be wrecked because of a bad decision. I always woeet so much about my kids when they go out. Not because they drink and drive ( i know they don't because they call me to pick them up) but because of others who make the wrong choice.

Question for the group!!!!!

I am thinking about putting together a book about triathlons and would like your permission to use your stories , quotes or quips if I ever get it done.  Of courses any thing used would receive full recognition. Such as Tracy's. I learned how to blow snot rockets and spit. mY own falling off a stationary bike and of course our sharing of all the sordid details of personal life

Now it time to wake up my wife and head to the beach.. Everyone have a great day at work hee hee hee

Great idea Rob!  Would make for a good read.  Have fun at the beach.

SSMinnow - 2009-09-28 2:26 PM Ok, I hope you all don't think I am being sappy, but I thought of this yesterday while reading the MG posts in Laguardia. Do you guys realize how many times we turn to each other on this board to share news?  Seems like the HIM/HM kids rushed back this weekend to post to us,  I turn to you this morning re: my friends, Birdy feels the need to show his blister (thanks by the way) and the list goes on....pretty amazing given the fact most of us have yet to meet each other.  Really cool.

Once I got home, I was typing while my wife was unpacking.  Thanks again to everyone for all of their support.  You guys are great.

It's all yours.  I want the wireless version.

PS I contacted the seller.  This is what she told me about selling it:

I received it as part of a package deal and have decided I don't really need it.

I understand. I'll let you know if I find one in your area. The price just looked too good not to pass on. And I know built into a 650 wheel would be the best for you.

I'm off to Chicago for work through Wednesday (yes, I do occasionally work John).  Of course, I'm sneaking in a swim lesson with Steve since I am in his neck of the woods....seems a little early to ask "THE QUESTION" so I will leave that up to someone else tomorrow.  I think Sam is usually pretty good at remembering it and it is her day to view the MG while at work

I have to say I am excited about the prospect of the Olympics coming to Chicago since the biking would be in Madison and the surrounding area.  Can't wait to hear the Friday decision and then wait 6+ years until they get here.Tongue out

With all of the racing that went on last week, I am itchy.  This whole off-season thing really gets in the way of having fun, especially when you have to work on your limters.  How do some of you seasoned triathletes approach it and stay sane? Ryan? Steve? et al?

Caio!

If Chicago is selected, the Olympics will be there faster than you think.  I remember when Vancouver got the nod a number of years ago and thinking 2010 was a long way off.  Now they are coming in a matter of months and I'm wondering what I've been doing this whole time.

At least Cypress will be open for some lift-assist DH riding this year.  It has been closed the last few summers in preparation for the mogul and freestyle events.

Caio!

Off-season is the time to get faster! For 3 months, I'm trying to run every day for at least 30 minutes (29 days in, 143 miles so far). I'm going to add some swimming in another month or so to work on that, since that's my big limiter. But the key is to do some fun stuff! Do a scenic hike for a few hours! Go snowshoeing (assuming you've got access to snow...) Kayaking, indoor rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running... build the engine through low-impact, low-risk-of-injury stuff that keeps you active.

Basically I just nominate Birdy as my one man activities committee and that keeps things interesting. Past activities he's suggested for me have included mowing his lawn, hanging drywall in his garage, re-shingling his roof, or regrouting his kitchen backsplash while he does "active hydration recovery" on the couch. I especially like it when he sets a time goal, like "make sure you finish all of this before Kim gets home!" That really gets me motivated!

Whats an off season?

I am technically taking the month of November off from Running and biking and will swim 4-5 times a week to get ready to start my Lonestar HIM plan on December 1st with my new coach.

Marathon is last week in October so I guess I get a day or two off.

Next year I have my whole year pretty much planned out, after last tri it will be bike racing, mtn biking and cyclocross, then get read for Disney 5k + 1/2 mary + Marathon weekend.

Hi gang!  Crazy busy at work this morning.  Where did that come from?  Don't they know I have RRs to read.

As Rob said I got to meet him and his lovely wife last night. We went out to dinner and talked tri's the whole time.   I felt bad for his wife but she was a real trouper.  Have fun at the beach Rob!  This weekend I get to meet Tony and Sam in DC for more dinners and then the Army 10 miler!  This is so cool meeting everyone.

Jeremy, you look like a pirate with a big silver hoop earring!  Is that an earbob cord?

My Doug sent me this article on what a first timer can expect at Kona - very cool.  I have a friend racing there for the first time this year. She came in 4th at Florida only b/c she was hit by a car during the bike and it took the race medics 20 minutes to clear her. What a stud.  So she went on to win IMAZ for her Kona spot!  I love tough chicks!!!  Anyway, enjoy the article.  http://www.runtri.com/2008/01/ironman-kona-2008-what-to-expect-at.html

Ya'll crack me up!  Yeah, I opted to wear my iPod (and only 1 earphone).  I havent run with music for a long time, but I opted to do it for this race to help me focus away from the expected pain.  Must have worked.
