Our friend that passed away from ALS is being honored tonight at the WNBA game as a woman of inspiration. A bunch of us are going to celebrate. Should be pretty cool!!

Between that, my women's only triathlon this weekend, the fact that I am reading Lean In - Women, Work, and the Will to Lead and taking a lot of baths lately I'm feeling exceptionally lady-like. Surprised

A tear and high-five for Mo.

I'll give you lady-like. I think we're both on for coconut bras. For the Yanti Salty Coconut Bra Full Contact AquaTri & Spectator Drinking Game!!! It's time!

Also, I called you out in my blog today. Just thought I'd letcha know.

Woah-ho-ho! That is two challenges in a week! I will take you up on a chili-mile for sure! Just as I will take Monica up on the poutine mile. USA vs the rest of the world!!!!

Dude - it's ON!!!  However... because you're so much faster than I am, I think you should have to go backwards or hop on one leg for the run portion of the poutine mile.

Yeah, but you are Canadian therefore predisposed to efficient poutine eating.

This is true, it's genetically coded in all of us.  As is the ability to wrestle moose, ice skate, and tap a maple tree for sap.

Woo Hoo !!!!   Chattanooga will host it's first IM next year on September 28.       Just got the e-mail.

Time to refocus and adapt my training plan.

 Cool

Be interesting to see what they came up with. So far it sounds like they may have stayed out of the hardest things.

The home page lists the swim as a loop, but on the course page it's listed as point to point?  Hopefully it's the latter so you don't have to swim against the current!!  Bike with 2100ft of climbing and a run with 700ft of elevation... it'll be interesting to see how quickly this one sells out.

Chattanooga is two hours up to road from me.  It's part of the Tennessee Valley, which I live in.    These are my current training conditions.     Ideal for me.....   Wink

I saw the stats, but am wondering how accurate they are and where they go with it. I'd heard they wanted a flatter course, but that seems really low. Could still be a fun course, but they're definitely avoiding the big stuff. I was there for one weekend and did a nice run going up and around the Raccoon Reservoir. ~15 mile run (seriously, haha) and had ~1,600 ft of gain. ~1,000 ft of that came inside of 2 miles. It was awesome, both up and down.

Ooh, ooh, ooh.  You just gave me an idea for a Canadianathon!

  1. Put on your touque.
  2. Poutine 'mile'--each lap is a lap around the outdoor hockey rink
  3. At the end of the mile you have to tap the maple tree and make Tire Sur Neige.

Brilliant!

I will be thinking of names.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Erin!  Sounds like you've had a banner day:)

Hmmmm...yes, but I feel a bear skin rug would've been more appropriate for my rugged mountain man Wink

Hahahahaha

Perhaps a mountain lion (aka cougar) rug? It is a new bike, afterall. Is friend Eddie hot? ;)

Ok, all caught up on the reading.

Kate, I have no experience but you are in my prayers. I am thankful to know the Manatee women who freely discuss these issues so I will face them more prepared.

Chatanooga, I got that message too. Pretty cool new addition to the IM offerings.

Dogs, our lab/GSH mix has a similar habit. She knows she's not allowed up but if her ball is on the couch cushion she shoves her body and shoulders forward on the couch keeping all 4 feet pointing toward the ground to retrieve it (if we don't throw it soon enough to her liking).

Jo, I love that you are enjoying riding the bike!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I saw the myotherapist again this morning and finally got a reluctant agreement to let me start to run/ride EASY. So now how do I get from an easy run today (I'm thinking 3 miles at 10:00 min/mile) to a HM on October 20?

Congratulations on your new edition!  You've probably already selected a name but I suggest Eddie.

Thanks! As for the name suggestion...we have a friend named Eddie. Need I say more? lol

You have a friend named Eddie Felt Edict?  Small world!

and actually, the rink I played on in college was pretty much an outdoor rink:

that far end used to be open so when it was raining or snowing, you would get precipitated on if you were behind the net.

So, this event could be called, "Tap That Touque Poutine Mile" or something.

Yeah, but you are Canadian therefore predisposed to efficient poutine eating.

This is true, it's genetically coded in all of us.  As is the ability to wrestle moose, ice skate, and tap a maple tree for sap.

Brilliant!

outdoor hockey rink? Tire -whatever-the-eff? What is this nonsense!?!?!

Oh c'mon, you are ahead of most--at least you know what a touque is!

Anyone who lived through the era of the McKenzie brothers knows what a touque is Wink

Made by what I think is a local company, they do all sorts of cool clothes and swimwear too, called 69SLAM. The whole fam be fans.
