I hope they give out something similar. 2 more BIG weekends then taper time!!!! Arriving in PCB before IM is like going to normal ville, where everyone is out riding and running and very fit. I belong to the majority and not the minority there. The pre race atmosphere is awesome!!! EXACTLY...and its totally normal to be walking around in a wetsuit Tired of hearing I am a freak for working out so much. Bib # 505 for me |

Member 11 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Regarding pushing your long ride to next weekend. My schedule has a long ride (5:30 hrs)this weekend and the longest ride of the season(6:00) next weekend before I start to taper. I followed the same schedule the last two yrs and felt great for the race. So I suspect you should be fine if you need to push the ride to next weekend. Here's hoping it's not raining on both weekends! |

Expert 1148 Santa Fe, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Originally posted by thefitmitten Quick question for you all: We're supposed to be getting rain and storms all weekend and I have a 100-110 mile ride (last biggie) penciled in. I really don't want to ride in the rain for 6 hours as I just got my bike tuned up and all pretty and I'm not willing to ride that amount of time on the trainer. Would it be a bad idea to switch this weekend's long ride with next weekends recovery week workout?? If I postpone the long ride this weekend, is it too close to race day to fit it in next week?? Thank you for your help! I was just thinking about that very thing this morning. If you've never ridden 6 hours in the rain, it's worth the experience. It's really up to you to determine how much you want to sacrifice your taper. If you do decide to move the ride, I'd reduce volume in other places during the week. - good luck |

Expert 1148 Santa Fe, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Bib number 3136 for me. THIS makes is seem real. Last long run this morning, I got almost 20 miles. not what I had planned, but the Universe obviously had other plans for me this year. 61 Athletes in my AG this year. Last year I had to be 2 minutes faster to beat the guy in front of me, but I had to be 2 hours faster to win my AG. In my wildest fantasy I get a Kona Slot, but it's really not likely. The oldest male is in the 80-84 year AG. Hope he finishes and gets his slot! |

Member 40 Rochester | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread It's better to show up undertrained and fresh than to be overtrained and fatigued. If you haven't missed many so far, it won't hurt you to not do that ride. If it was me, I'd do 3-4 hours or whatever you can tolerate on the trainer and then another 3-4 hours next weekend. Your mileage would likely end up being the same and you won't have that big ride quite so close to the race. Just my two cents. |

Or at least thats a goal right now and in about 24 years i'll see, that is about 30 or 40 more IM. |

New user 23 Sugar Land, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Originally posted by rjrankin83 Swim question: I was reading a thread on that other site that made me think of a question about the swim. I'm expecting to swim roughly 1:00, are we allowed to cut inside of the yellow buoys, and just go outside the red turn buoys? Assuming the current's light this would cut down going through BOP swimmers. From the looks of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fzbW7vjMpg&feature=relatedit looks like that's okay Good video showing the number of swimmers cutting the yellow buoys and those going outside of them. You think it's a 100+ meters difference in distance? Also, saw that you and another are turning 30 close to the IM date. I'm turning 40 on Nov 16. Wonder how many on the forum have Nov birthdays...sure is a cool present! Of course, most would think us crazy to consider a 140.6 mile event as a present. ha ha. And to those who still need to knock out some long rides, I'll toss myself into that mix. Lots of rain here in Sugar Land, TX, and on bike days no doubt. I'm following a plan from Gale Bernhardt, which has some 5-6 hour rides within 3 weeks of the date; a few 3-hour run sessions too. My first full IM, so I'm thinking that she's coaching "peaking" at the right time. Finally, all of the summaries on different aspects of the event are really helpful, so thanks to all of you out there. Loren |

The only e-mail I received was the confirmation I registered last year. Another friend posted her # via FB. They don't sendout an email you just kind of have to stalk the IMFL website to see if they have been posted. I actually looked the day before and they were not up.

A million things to do, but as long as I get my workout in for the day I feel like I've accomplished something. Some days it's all that I do get done. I did make it to Wall Mart today. At least I have something to eat in the house for tomorrow morning. Peak training ate me up this last week. |

Extremely slow at work and all of this time to knock out my workouts. Instead I have to cram them into the minimal hours of daylight I have before/after. |

Seriously it sucks HOURS out of my weekend. Screw it I will eat some cliff bars. There are only so many hours in the day. My house is a mess...well for me it is a mess and I don't care. Also could give a rats a$$ what my hair looks like. I am just going to workout and shower again in a few hours anyway so why bother. Can't wait !!!! To leave for the race, for the long training to be over, too see my friends etc etc. Edited by Socks 2013-10-09 8:06 AM |

Member 35 Connecticut | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Thanks for everyone sharing their "misery", it is mentally helpful to know I am not alone! Like many of you, this is my first IM so I am experiencing the absurd training for the first time. Workout, eat, sleep, repeat - does this summarize it well? If I had to include 1 more it might be ICE. This is the last week before taper for me. A little over 3 weeks from now I know it will have been well worth it! Good Luck everyone |
