Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Uh...bike porn?...we don't endorse that kind of stuff around here. *giggle* I have an old mountain bike, does that matter? I'll let you know how that goes in the tri this summer. I had an evaluation of how I move today. The trainer gave me some exercises/stretches to fix my tight hip flexors, hip instability, forward pelvic tilt, tight calves, and tight lats. The good news is she doesn't see any ankle instability, and the shoes I have should be right for me. (yay!) Now I need to go buy a (foam) roller, and hit the treadmill (walking only for now...).

Veteran 291 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed I'll try to remeber to post a picture of my crusty old Schwinn MTN bike this weekend, so we can all have a good laugh. I wanted a road bike last year, but hubby insisted I do at least 1 tri to make sure I would stick with it, and not waste $ on a bike. Well guess who is looking at road bikes? HE IS!! I think he needs to suck it up like I did. We'll see... |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Givem, I have a foam roller and it works well. But if your IT band is sore, it will hurt like heck to roll on it. But that will help make you better. If nothing is wrong, it won't hurt. |

Yep--that's what I went through today--IT band, lateral gastrocs, peroneus, hip adductors, hip flexors. It'll be good, though. I can't wait to get back on track and actually train for a triathlon! |

Gygy... you definitely have quite the balancing act going on. Hang tough, Cookie . I think I need some bike porn. What do you ride?? Let's see pictures . I'll start. My pretty bike is a Trek 2100 WSD with carbon stryke aerobars. Yes, that is a pink fuel box... and, though you can't really tell from the picture, I also have pink Speedplay pedals. You may giggle at my pink saddle and handlebars all you want, but, for the record, there is no bike as easy to spot in transition as mine.
Closest thing I have to bike porn is the picture of me on my Red (cause some say red is faster) Raleigh Road 500 Road bike. I'm sorry Mila -- Nothing PINK on my bike!

I'll let you know how that goes in the tri this summer. It doesn't matter a bit! You might consider switching out your tires, though. I had an evaluation of how I move today. Foam rollers are really effective... and you can't over-roll. Be sure to use it prior to working out as well as after... and many times in between workouts! |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed A most excellent day. A friend from another Multi Sport forum is in California this week. I picked him up at his hotel at 6 am, took him down to the beach and we ran for an hour. Got him back to his hotel so he can shower up and meet clients. This afternoon he flys back to Chicago where it was -3. We ran in 45 degree temps. Also my Garmin 305 wouldn't turn on this morning. Glad I found out about today rather than race day on Sunday. A 5 minute call to Garmin and the unit works fine again. Just had to do a soft reset hitting the mode and reset button. No data was lost. Hard reset would be mode and power button but that would lose all previous data. Unit is recharging as I type. Would have sucked to have no Garmin on Race Day. |

For my half marathon last Saturday, because it was overcast, my Garmin couldn't pick up a signal. It picked up at the hill at the turnaround (around mile 6), but I lost signal again as we headed back down into the valley. Made me appreciate my Garmin... |

Veteran 291 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed I made it through my first week of class and about 50% of my workouts, which is still better than last semester. I havent' seen much of my husband, but we are going out to dinner tomorrow night to catch up. I am tired, stressed and overwhelmed, I should do great in the nursing field. LOL Run in the a.m. and lots of reading this weekend. It's going to be a long 8 weeks, did I mention that? |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Gygy, nope you didnt mention that. Why don't you tell us about it.. wink. Rode the bike down to pick up the race bib today. Meet friends at the expo tomorrow, then have lunch with them. One is flying in from Ireland. Half marathon on Sunday. It is supposed to rain for 4 hours in the next week. And those 4 hours are right when the race starts. Yay for 2 hour race in the rain, and then wait 2 more hours in the rain waiting for g/f and her sister to finish walking the race. |

Pro 4216 Sous Mon Diadème | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Soooo... it has been suggested that we have a mentor group challenge this month. I'm alllll over it! Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. I haven't thought it through except for the part of me picking avatars for anyone who doesn't meet his/her challenge goal . Think pink and sparkly, my friends. Joking, joking, I jest... sort of... Seriously, I think it's a great idea. Anyone else up for playing? Goals could be sport specific in hours or distance or it could be hitting planned training X number of times per week or a combined number of training hours per week? I don't know, this is just off the top of my head and trying to be inclusive of those of us who are busy with business travels, school, kids, life, etc. Participation totally optional. Thoughts? Ideas?

Sounds good to me. How about we state our goals for the week/month, and see who sticks to their plan? |

Regular 61 Noblesville, Indiana | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed This is just off the top of my head, whoever, wants to play would state their goals for the month for swimming, biking and running. Miles, yardage or time and at the end of the month we see who has the highest percentage per stated goal. |
