I've always wanted to do one, since I am much better at swimming and cycling than I am at running . One day... And, you're right about it how it really cuts down on recovery time. Where are you going on vacation?

Expert 706 New Orleans | Subject: RE: LaurenSU02's group - CLOSED! lisazapato - 2008-05-17 12:47 PM well, group, i've hit a rough patch with the working out - only one day this week so far!!!! how pathetic! but i've got a lot of work on my plate lately, i have a big presentation to some leading lights of the industry at Big Kahuna Corporation in 2 weeks, and I have a lot of work to put in before I'm ready for that. this easily could be virtually like a job interview for me, though it isn't, officially. so...yeah. wish me luck. i think i'm going to try out OWS today in hubby's wetsuit, but i'm not going to be hitting it as hard as usual in the near future . If training was your living, then you wouldn't have an excuse. But you gotta take care of the important stuff first. I hope the presentation goes great and you are able to free up some time to get some training in. Good luck! |

Where are you going on vacation? Thanks for the comments! This does seem like the best choice for me, although I'm still going to try to bike at a pace as if I were going to run afterwards, so that I don't go too hard on the bike. I will wear the HRM to keep it in check. I'm actually going to Alaska for a full week, leaving Thurs. night. I'm very excited about the trip...even if it means butchering my training! I'll try to get in a few short runs but thats about it. |

Expert 941 WA | Subject: RE: LaurenSU02's group - CLOSED! hi guys, so i did get in a 20 min OWS today for the first time this year, using hubby's wetsuit. i've actually never done an OWS in cold water, or with a wetsuit before. i've heard cold water makes you dizzy - i was not dizzy while swimming but once i got back to land, i was completely and totally dizzy, swaying back and forth and stuff, i would have been in no shape to run to T1, if it were a race. i've heard earplugs are the way to go. has this ever happened to you guys? it was very disturbing to me.... |

Next is Denali Park, and then some river rafting (brrrr....) near Mt. McKinley! Not planning on any tough hiking, just the easy stuff with groups! Very much looking forward to it, hope it's not too cold out there! |

Regular 92 Columbus , OH | Subject: RE: LaurenSU02's group - CLOSED! hey all, I'm heading off in a second so I can't write anything all that long. I'm just about to start a 64 mile ride. I'm traveling 12 miles to join up with people to do a 40 mile group ride, then I'm riding home. It should prove interesting and I have a feeling that I am going to be worn out by the end of the day. |

Master 1619 Hingham, Ma | Subject: RE: LaurenSU02's group - CLOSED! I forgot that I had a 5k today. It was good. Came in 30/34 AG. This was running slow the 1st mile so that I could run with my coworker. I know I could have done better, but it was really just a race that fit into my workout. I rode 20 miles yesterday, so my legs were hurting a bit. |

Master 1678 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: LaurenSU02's group - CLOSED! I ran my first half marathon today!! I had a great time I do need to start taking in some nutrition during training though because I felt like I could have used a gel for the last 5k today. This was my longest run to date though and I was OK up until mile 10. |

Champion 6539 South Jersey | Subject: RE: LaurenSU02's group - CLOSED! Looks like everyone had a great weekend! Yay!!! I had a good one - 6.25-hr ride on Saturday. I saw a dead body. I also got a little lonely out there (ride alone), but otherwise, it was good . I followed that up with a 1:20 run on Sunday. That's my longest run since August (stupid injuries), so I was happy to have done okay with it. I did a 1-hr aquajog immediately after the run, since 1:20 just isn't long enough at this point. |

It was quite ecclectic which appealed to both of us. We also went to a great breakfast at Captain Cooks hotel in the downtown area. The food was wonderful, but be sure to take your credit card. It was not cheap. Have fun! Have you ever been there before? |
