I've been doing a lot of traveling the last week or so, and have been eating way too many calories. Like others have said, the calories still count even when they're healthy. I've experienced this first hand and I know better, so it's time to start watching my calorie count again. I did have a few successes in the sugar department though.

I went out for chinese and didn't have sweet and sour or eat the fortune cookie

I asked for my chai at the indian restaurant unsweetened

I didn't eat any of the freshly baked hotel cookies

I had an oatmeal raisin cookie. And I felt sad and guilty doing it. why??? I have no idea.

Darn it. I made it basically a MONTH without any cookies or candy or junk food.

Back on the bandwagon. Ugh.

I have not tried the greek yogurt yet, but all of you are making it sound so good. I have to add it to my shopping list for this week!

No dings for me in awhile. That is good. The scale is not moving like I first thought it would, but that is ok. I will get my body fat checked again at the end of next week and see if there is movement there. I am at 143.

I agree.  I might have to break down and try this Greek yogurt since you all keep raving about it.  The problem is that I really like my yogurt and it is only 100 calories for 8 ounces and the sugar or fake sugar is waaaayyyyyy down on the ingredient list.

Since coming home I have been pretty good with my eating.  Was too chicken to go to Weight Watchers yesterday, but today I wore the lightest dress I own (despite the fact that it is supposed to be cold and rainy today) and we will see what we will see.  If I stay even, I will be happy enough.

What kind of yogurt do you eat? I've looked at most of them at my market and sugar or fake sugar is up there...love to know one that fits the bill.

GOod luck at WW.

I'm so sorry to hear that.  I would say you get a free mulligan for getting laid off.

BTW, what was your line of work and do you have any thoughts on what you are going to do?

I work in advertising sales for print publications and online.  No clue what I'm going to look for next, maybe Professional BT Surfer!!

I'm feeling a bit better as it has sunk in over the past few hours, anyway, here's my latest blog entry today:

12:12pm:  If i'm going to be unemployed at least I'm looking good today.   Went to grab lunch and while I was walking out of the cafe, a man sitting outside takes his cap off when he sees me and says, "holy sh-t, wooooow!" As I walked by and he turns his head and watches me walk up the street.  Bad career day, but a nice a$$ day for me I guess.  And lets face it, I can always get another job, but this is my a$$ FOREVER!

My yogurt is the supermarket brand - Ralphs or perhaps Kroger in other places.  Hopefully you can find it.  It is quite tasty.

Well, that's quite a send-off.  I almost would rather have that than a job.  Or at least, if I can't have my job, I sure would like to have that!  Go for a run, don't have cupcakes, and you will find something really soon.  I can't believe those abs would be unemployed for very long.

Couple asked more about how much I'm eating and tracking calories..this is what I put in my blog.

When I consulted a tri nutrition coach 8/07 he based my caloric intake based on different training volumes with 500 calorie per day deficit ..back at that time I weighed 161 and my body fat was 20.52% with lean body mass of almost 128.

10 hour training week: 1770 calories; P: 140; C: 225; F: 35
15 hour training week: 2140 calories; P: 155; C: 285; F: 40
No training week:         1020 calories; P:  95; C: 115; F: 20

Right now I'm doing about 10 hours of tri training so my goal calories is 1770..stuff like yoga, pilates, zumba is extra training. I may bump up calories once I start doing longer runs and bikes.  I do take in calories when doing my long rides and have good recovery food after longer workouts.

I'd like to get close to my goal weight sooner than later so when I do my longer bigger volume IM training, I'm eating to fuel and recover well.

Last 7 day avgs: cal 1696; P: 124; C: 205; F: 45

My husband noticed yesterday that he can see the center vertical line in my abs again

Sorry to hear about your job Abbie.  Hope you get something quick.

I haven't been around the site much in the last couple of weeks due to laziness/apathy/bad moods/etc.

The only thing I've been doing pretty good with is the no sugar.  I won't win, and I have some more dings to plug in, but compared to before we started the challenge, I'm doing great!  So I'm very happy about that.

I finally got going on the training again yesterday, so now it's time to get serious again with this. Smile

I had my second nutritionist appointment on Wednesday.  Here is what she gave me for a breakdown:

Basic Calorie Requirement:  1846
Average Daily Exercise Calories:  1051
Calories to Maintain Weight:  2897
Calories to lose 1.0 lbs/week:  2397
Ratio of Calories:
Carbohydrates:  50%, 299.6 g = 1198.5 calories
Protein:  25%, 149.8 g = 599.3 calories
Fat:  25%, 66.6 g = 599.3 calories

She said to make sure I eat the same amount of calories each day, instead of eating more on higher exercise days and less on non-exercise days.  So far, the protein requirements are the hardest to follow, as the amount I am supposed to eat is really high for me.  She wants me to focus on eating the following food group breakdown:

breads/starches - 5
fruit - 4
vegetable - 5+
dairy - 3-4
meat/meat substitute - 6-7
fat - <2

(Background information:  female, age 30, weight in 7/2002-137 & 18% body fat, weight in 11/2007-218 & 44% body fat, weight today-166 & unknown body fat)

Interesting how different our calories are and we weigh within 5 pounds of each other...you get 700 calories more than me a day.

How many hours a week are you working out for those daily exercise calories?

I'm working out 800-900 minutes a week with 10 of it being tri training...rest is other sports like strength, yoga, pilates, and mostly zumba.

I'll be curious how it goes for you. Good luck...it is pretty cool all the info. you rec'd.

My exercise is all logged here on BT.  I'm usually around 400-500 minutes per week, with most of that being hard intensity.

I, too, thought it was interesting how I can eat so much more than you.  Maybe age?  (I think you are a few years older than me.)  Also, while I don't know my current BF%, I am very muscular, so that might have something to do with it.  My job is mostly desk work, so I don't burn calories that way.

I have appointment number 3 with the nutritionist next Wednesday.  After that, the appointments will be less frequent.
