GoFaster - 2011-01-14 8:59 AM Todd - have a great race and enjoy it.  I don't get to race until May!

Joe - those are pretty impressive run pace times, and the watts/kg ain't too shabby either.Wink  By the way, how did you get the chart into your blog?  I'd like to openly steal the idea and add something similar to my own blog.

Thanks

The run stuff I just copied and pasted from the Jack daniels calculator (I believe someone posted the link to it here).  If you have the rich text editor, you can insert a table, which is what I did for the bike power stuff.  You might be able to just copy and paste mine too.

Today I did 2450 yd swim...fun parts including descending 5 100s and wondered if  I could do it as even descending 3 can be challenging but I did it.

My plan has has a run on it but knee is bothering me so not sure if I'll do it or not.....treadmill seems to bother my knee more than road running. Roads have quite a bit of ice and snow so it's tough choice.

I've noticed the same thing.  Treadmill tends to aggravate things more than the road.

TGIF everyone!  Good luck this weekend with race and training

Did all three sports again today, so happy made it to the pool. .. .Feeling blessed to be feeling real peppy lately and actually struggling with the fact I'd rather be doing MORE right now than my training plan calls for (for example, running today thinking "oh I miss the hardcore marathon training cycle and how I'd love to go for a nice 18 mile run today")...BUT... I have had my share of injuries, my body is only getting older, so I am trying to reign it in, stick with the program, and I'm a one-race-a-year kind of gal..i know it won't be long before I'm feeling kicked (I think all of us around these parts love that feeling don't we SmileWink).   Kate

Thanks for all the kind words. I don't really know what to expect but I'm excited. It was fun to go to the expo tonight and there were a TON of people there. I'm #36257 so I don't know if there are over 30,000 entered or not. I'm guessing over 30,000 1/2 mary runners and at least 6,000 full mary runners. It should be a super exciting day. At least I'll have a time to beat on my next one. Actually, I want to beat my stand alone time for the 13.1 on my HIM in April.

I'll let everyone know on Sunday how I did.

Fred - do you have the ability to adjust your CT power numbers to match up with your Quarq?  I know with the Tacx I-Magic the power numbers used to desccribe me as quite the stud on a bike (I wish), however once I got the PT I was able to adjust the settings of the trainer so they were more in line with the PT.  At least that way if I didn't have the PT on the trainer I'd know the trainer numbers would be reasonably close.  I don't always want to swap the rear tire in the summer - although that won't be an issue for you with the Quarq.

Just waiting for my wife to wake up then I'm off for a 13km run in the snow.  I want to get going before too much more accumulates.

I have 80' trainer ride with focus on zone 3 work.

Knee is better and I may try short run on cleared roads or swim as well.

I do need to take my bike off CT and change battery in PT hub. Right now I have my old PT wheel on my bike and not able to get my speed/cadence sensor to pick up so Joule is showing data but not recording it. Sarris thinks it is sending signal to PT hub which has a dead battery. I need to put in new battery in order to figure out if it is the cadence sensor or battery. They said it was a bridging issue. I know it is odd to have three different methods of collecting power data at same time, but I like to compare the numbers then I need to sell my PT.

For me my Quarq and CT numbers are pretty close. I'm not sure if Fred was talking about that issue or more that most of us have harder time getting same power numbers on CT than outside.

Have fun training and racing this weekend!

KathyG - Knee is better and I may try short run on cleared roads or swim as well.

Kathy-Good to hear of improvement.

I'll do a an easy 7-8 mile run with a friend latter this morning.  Then maybe lunch with my TSW. (Tolerant Supportive Wife). Maybe go to a movie together-we like to do that every 2-3 years.  Now that our youngest is 16 and mobile we find that we have more flexibility in our activities.  Outside for a ride tomorrow and a yoga session at some point over the weekend.

Yesterday I used my zoomers during a portion of my swim workout that called for using fins.  Had not used them in 6-8 months and my legs felt it last night.  I typically have a very light 2 beat kick and some of the kick work was at a pretty solid intensity.  Glad it will be a slow easy run today.

Treadmill running SERIOUSLY beats me up as well - I just don't do it. Every time I read something in Runners World suggesting rehabbing an injury on a treadmill I just think "pppfffffttttt." Glad to know it is not just me...

2:45 on the trainer today  -  Roads are STILL a little too sketchy in places to ride outside... ugh. Then :45 minute run-off. Then helping a friend getting setup for his wife's surprise 40th birthday party - she's getting a new Felt with Di2 & Zipp 1080/808s - some surprise! THEN we'll watch the Dirty Birds beat up on the Cheese Heads later - apologies in advance for that Rob

Have fun out there today people, and a special "Good Luck!" to Todd and the wife tomorrow. You guys are gonna do great - looking forward to the report!

I have a 2:10 trainer ride and 2000 swim scheduled. I am having a few friends come over this afternoon for a belated Hawaii IM viewing. I also have IMAZ on DVR so we might watch that as well.

I haven’t been unfortunate.  What I do find that went I run on the TM I have a hard time going back and forth from TM too outside.

TM is fun for me I can mix it up and play with all the little buttons.

I also find speed work easer and more enjoyable on a TM.

Hey all--it's been a fairly busy week for me, so I'm slightly behind here.  I have family coming in for the week, starting today, and that always poses a challenge for training cause it's hard to duck out to do training when people travel to see you.  So, I'll be up early on several of the days and we'll just see how it all goes.  About to start my ride for the day, around 50 miles, gorgeous weather out.  I've been trying to balance sleep better this year.  In the past there have been times I've been up for an early workout simply to get it done, but sacrificed sleep in the process because I didn't HAVE to be up that early to get it done.  So, now when I have some flexibility, I'm trying to take it.

I don't know how some people do lots of work on treadmills.  I can't do them well, and thankfully haven't really had the need to use them and probably won't till 2012 when I'm living in NY...I am bored after about 4 miles and have a hard time just doing the same thing.  Which is funny, cause it is not the same with the trainer. I can ride the trainer for hours and be fine.  Anyhow, now it's just rambling and I must get ready to ride. Have a great weekend all!

I commend people who have super busy jobs and kids and family coming into town and they still get their training in. I agree with the book "Be Iron Fit" that you should get your workouts in early because things happen. I haven't fully embraced that yet but after this weekend I'm in.

The treadmill for me is just something that I have to do. It's not enjoyable at all but I would rather do it than not workout. I'm good for about 30 minutes and then I'm bored. I always try to do my long runs outside.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I ran outside with my husband and my knee was good. Smile I think I was dressed more like Eskimo than runner but felt comfortable at real feel of 11.  I hope it continues to feel good throughout the day as last run on TM felt fine but later in the day it started acting up.
