I am! Wifey and I shoveled and moved mulch all day yesterday and I am feeling the effects today! Was planning on a long swim today but I'm not sure its gonna happen. Trying to keep moving to work the stiffness out.

Wow! What a gorgeous couple of days! Got my long ride in yesterday 106 miles - my first century. Rode most of the course, the day could not have been nicer. Started at 55 degrees and warmed up to low 70's, no humidity. Fabulous! Today I got my long run in, now I can enjoy my weekend and begin my taper for Galveston 70.3 next weekend. I'm feeling a lot more confident about the whole race in general, but feeling really good about the bike. In my opinion, the toughest part of the course is after Richards on 1486. I felt stronger than the first time I rode it, but there are a few "hills" that are tough. Granted nothing like other IM courses from what I hear, but there are definitely hills out there. All in all, training is going good. I need to work on my swim volume. And looking forward to running through a few things in Galveston as a test. How is everyone doing? 57 days to go!

Nice work on the century ride.  Your outdoor ride on the course sounds a lot nice than my indoor ride on the computrainer

Today was my first 100+mile ride in quite a while.  It looks like training is right on pace where I should be.  Last weekend I was in San Juan for a 70.3 Tune Up race.  70.3 San Juan was a new PR at this distance and has me even more excited for Texas.  I highly suggest IM70.3SJ be added to everyones 'future race list', great venue and great race!

I have to travel for work the next couple weeks, but already found a pool and am taking a bike and my computrainer to keep training on target!!!

Today during my long ride I had to keep telling myself I have at least 5 more 90+ rides left. weather was perfect, but my upper back and quads did not like it. I ran 3 miles and haunting memories of last years IMTX where in my mind. I was wiped out. Next week will be better, RIGHT?

Better one here, but dang I am jealous of your bike volumn! I am going to try for a few 200 mile weeks, but it will be hard.

Less than 8 weeks peeps.

Last week fell all apart for me with work and life Yell

Off to a good start this week though, got in that first OWS of the year today. A balmy 48 degrees outside with a water temp probably high 50's. Conditions similar to IM TX right? Undecided

Recovery week for me this week leading into Galveston 70.3. Excited to be racing again but wishing I was a spectator this weekend instead. Should be an awesomer mens pro race.

I am traveling next week in Chicago all week, so researching pools close to the hotel and trying to figure out running routes in the area (I'm not in Chicago proper, but might go down to lakeshore one evening for my long run) any biking will be done on whatever equipment they have at the hotel gym.

My plan will probably be tweeked after the race .. I have 3 hard weeks scheduled, then a recovery week, then 1 hard week and then I start the taper. I may decide to go 2 build,1 recover,2build, 2 taper .. depends on how those 2 week build sessions go. All long rides should be at or close to 100, runs will be 18ish, so depending on how I am feeling after those I will adjust accordingly.

Hope everyone racing this weekend has a great day!

I like the (2 build, 1 recover) x 2, then 2 Taper assuming that the 70.3 doesn't wipe me out too much. Any of the BT Peeps out there think a 2 week taper is too short?

I am an IDIOT!!!!

So I ran a 10k on Saturday and with warm up cool down and everything else got in a little over 16 miles, felt slow cause I haven't raced in forever but overall went well. Felt fine after those miles and planned my 100 miler on the trainer on Sunday.

Legs were a little tight Sunday but nothing major. Got on the trainer in the afternoon and immediatley had nothing. Legs felt dead, couldn't get my watts up, my speed sucked. I assumed maybe I was wooped more than I thought. Bailed at 40 miles and went on.

Had a nice short run last night and then jumped on the trainer for an hour. Immediatley just like Sunday, everything felt wrong. Went 3 min and then had a revelation. I blew out my tire on Wednesday and put on a new one but never recalibrated my computrainer.

Turns out it was almost double the tension it should have been. What a moron!

Ended up with a great ride last night and mad about cutting short Sundays ride. We move on Laughing

Sorry, but that's funny! Definitely something I'd do. But hey, it's better than the alternative - dead legs!!

My first open water swim of the season will be at IM TX.  Prob not the best situation, but the water here in Cincy is still way too cold.  Actually, my first race of the season will be IM TX.  Oh well - going to have fun and enjoy it.  Texas IM can be a warm up to the rest of the season.  LOL.

I have put in lots of bike miles on the trainer this winter, but am really just recently getting out on the road.  It feels great, but I can tell I don't have the legs yet for hills and wind.  Race day is getting close and I am getting nervous.  Too much personal stuff going on (packing/moving, temporary housing, work stress/drama, looking for  new job).  Way too much to be fully focused on workouts.  I am putting in the time, but the intensity/push is not there.  :-(  Well, I just need to remember race day is for fun.

Amy, you are still training probably 3x's more than half of us! Not to mention, your volume never really goes down. You are MORE THAN FINE for this race.

I won't be doing any OWSing before the race either probably. Otherwise, you will be FINE not doing it. You are a superb swimmer who is very fast. I'm certain you will still come out of the water in under an hour!

Hang in there, but you know your training is solid.

Well I have been coming to terms that I probably won't have the race I had hoped for.

My longest run going into this race MIGHT be 2:30... MAYBE. And for me, that will be only around 13 miles. I am completely under-trained to run a marathon. I mean really, what idiot goes to RUN a marathon on ONE 13 miler in trainer? Oh wait... THIS IDIOT.

Oh well, it is what it is. Can't fix it. I can't up my miles more than roughly 10% per week because my knees are already hurting and both my feet are in pain (one I hurt in January, the other in February).

Otherwise, I'm a swimming machine and my cycling is so-so. The cycling is getting better.

So I'm going to go out, do what I can do race day, suffer through a death march on the run... and consider doing this race again if I don't reach my goal time of close to 14 hours.

Anyways, the race is close for all of us! Let's all keep training and doing what we can do to make it to the starting line AND finish line!

Hi, I'm Jim and I live in Ada, MI and am doing this race.  I did this race last year and thought it was an excellent venue.  Coming from Michigan, it's a challenge to train for the Texas heat but I made it through last year and had one of my better IM times.  I look forward to starting my tri season off with this race once again.  I came across this group thread recently and am enjoying reading through the posts.

I haven't been getting outside on the bike much either, but it's mostly because I don't want to miss my kids soccer games. Stress levels just jumped here as we found out that we're most likely moving to Memphis next May. We've only been back from Japan for 3 months. Should have left some of those boxes packed.Stay healthy. Time is flying. Remember, this is supposed to be fun.

Just checked the website again, no athlete guide yet and still the old courses on there. Curious how late they can wait to announce changes?
