We sure have some tough manatees here, wow, just wow! Glad everyone is OK, surviving tornados and evil weather/winds, cold swims and the like.  Yanti - so very sorry to hear the typhoid fever is back.  Eeek.

I am going to post a nice cloud (in contrast to the tornado cloud) that I saw on my kayak outing this weekend.  I never saw anything like it: spiral!  Also check out the picture with the goose.  It built its nest on top of a goose blind, which I found hilarious!  I saw at least 3 other genius geese who did the same thing on other blinds!  That's what the geese think of you, goose hunters, LOL!

Kate--absolutely, Congratulations ... staying in one piece and doing what's best for you short AND long term is absolutely winning. Failure is the kind of stupid crap I do, persevering when it's utterly fruitless and definitely damaging.

Speaking of which ...

I may be lying a little low the next few days or even weeks. I have typhoid fever again. I knew it was a bad deal when I didn't want Pop Tarts and didn't have enough energy to completely freak out about and run from geckos. It's sort of okay I waited so long to go to the doc since the tests won't pick it up until at least day 5 anyway, but in my case since it completely looked and quacked like typhoid, they probably would have started me on antibiotics sooner.

Goin' to sleep for a while, will check back in a little later.

I just looked up typhoid fever; I had no idea that it was caused by a Salmonella bacteria.  Sorry you are dealing with it AGAIN!  I had Salmonella once when I was about 15.  It was the worst experience of my life.  I can't imagine have to deal with it more than once...

Love all of the pics!  This is one from my back porch yesterday as the storms started rolling through.  Closest tornado was about 50 miles away, so we were lucky.

Just picked up kidlet from school.  Very wheezy and coughing with each breath, so it's off to the doc so they can listen to his chest. 

Hope everyone has a great start to the week.  I have a run and a ride scheduled with friends, but hoping to motivate myself to fit in a few more workouts.

So for the week before my race, I was really good and didn't eat any sugar, alcohol, or anything else 'bad'.  I don't know if it really makes a difference, but I feel better doing it.  But now that my race is over, I am eating everything in sight.  Immediately after the race I had a ding dong and a honey bun (which I have never even heard of before).  I also had some healthy food, but still.  I never eat that stuff.  Oh, and, as it was described by someone walking by a 'big-a$$ beer'.  A Snoqualmie IPA for those in the PNW.  Good IPA.  I think that may be the only reason I do this, so that I can eat and drink like a little piglet afterwards.

Oh yeah, over the weekend my "men-tee"/college friend Andrea  ran her first marathon in 4:06! Yaaaaay, I am like a proud mother.

She is cursing me today though. "You didn't tell me about the tricep workout I'd be getting! Getting on/off the toilet has never hurt so bad."

But I could be wrong...but I don't think so because I didn't know her finish time until yesterday and I don't think I posted yesterday.....now you have me confused. Typhoid, but whatever. I don't think so, though Teej caught some terrible creeping crud from me just being in TAN ... wait ... I think that's what TAN is.

Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure you did mention it. Andrea finishing, that is.

I had a great race today.  It was sunny with cloudy periods, about 60F.  Little bit of wind, but nothing like last night (nor like the midwest...)  I was very happy with all aspects of my race, but especially my swim.  I did discover that I drift right when swimming in OW, so have to work on that.  But, I was able to do all freestyle, unlike my first race, kept my breathing under control.  Had one part where I was starting to lose my breath, but was able to slow my stroke and regain control.  Improvements on the bike and run as well!

OMG, can't believe what a weekend everyones had.

Have yet to read the race reports but very proud of all our girls racing and the effort they put into their respective races. Some wise words have already been spoken on which i cannot improve. Just very proud of you all and glad to be part of this special group of people.

Yanti, you attention seeker, is there nothing you can't catch. (Twice!). Hope you get through it without too much suffering. Image drifting through my mind of distressed maiden being fanned with palm leaves by hunky surf piglets.

Some lovely pics kicking around. I will have to try to get my stoneage brain trained to this computer age then i will be able to put some of my own on here.
