Teejaay - 2012-10-29 4:29 PM What have I missed?  More importantly who has missed me?
I'm getting nervous with all this ironman talk.

We can talk about the cooler AZ temps!  They are pleasant .. well in the morning and at night at least!

You're NOT helping!

Noooo ... they are quite cool in the morning .. like in the mid to low 50's .. then they will head into the 80's .. then back down when the sun goes away.  THAT is pleasant!  I pray for cloud cover and no wind for youse too!

I hear the water is frickin' cold and the ride is frickin' windy.
You've a wetsuit. Wind is hit or miss. It's flat.

Let's talk about something more important.  Where are some good places to eat in Tempe?

Nowhere! Tempe's full of chain restaurants.

I gained so much weight flying out to AZ for the last two years and it was because of some of the restaurants in Scottsdale and Phoenix.

To get GOOD eats.  I mean post-IM-finisher type eats, you should go to one of the below places:

-Sanctuary on Camelback (Best views in Phoenix) they have great food too.

-Durant's (N Central Avenue) Built in 1953, you have to park out back and walk through the kitchen ala' Goodfellas.  Gail (bartender) makes the world's greatest Manhattans!

Kinda chain-ish, but still awesome:

-Mastro's City Hall Steakhouse (I sat next to Darrell Revis the first time I went there for dinner).

-Donovan's (I think it's originally from Phoenix.  But not sure.)

-Stingray Sushi (Good sushi, and if you're from anywhere but California, Oregon, Washington, or Hawaii, I don't want to hear nasty comments about sushi in the desert.  It has to cross AZ to get to you in Florida!!!)

-Roka Akor (While we're on the subject of sushi, the most expensive meal I've ever expensed was here.  There were 10 of us, we got the Chef's Special and it went-on for hours.  It was good.)

If you need restaurant recommendations for Flagstaff, let me know.

mr2tony - 2012-10-29 4:37 PM I actually dont mind the winter, just dont like it with three weeks to go til the race. Lakeshore path may be flooded today with 20-30 foot waves.

is that cause the hurricane all the way out there?!@?!?!

Shockingly yes. It's causing Lake Michigan to churn, which is going to cause the large waves starting this evening. Sucks.

Might be a good idea to find somewhere else to run/ride tonight.  Although, might be some good surfing weather if one is so inclined

If I run I'm going to go south on the trail. IF I go.

Come on down.  The sun is out, windy and cold, but no rain nor waves.

Yeah ... we'll see. I didn't do anything over the weekend. Sigh. The ironman is going to hurt. Bad.

yes it will...

Ima do some long runs this week, my long bike next weekend (three weeks seems pretty far out for a 6-hour bike ride) and then one more long run on Monday or Tuesday of next week. Then taper. Otherwise I'll feel like I'm not ready to rumble.

Well, yeah.  I'm good enough to not hurt myself if I don't push it too hard.  I can get off the bike after 6 hrs and feel just fine.  2.5 hour runs still leave me sore, but they always have.

I have my typical week this week and a 4.5 hr ride on sat,  a 4k swim and a 2/1 hr brick on sunday for some icing on the cake.

I will live through it, I suppose.

Yeah. Survival mode. That's where I'm at.

I'm still hoping to run into you guys and just enjoy the company.  Crazy as it sounds, if I have a good run, I COULD still maybe break 12 hours.  But I'm still probably looking at 13.

Dude go get it! If you think you're going to break 12 or even 13, don't let us slow you down. We're just going to be going at our own pace!

hmmm  IM's are sad and lonely.  I want company instead.

Puh lease.  A Hurricane? Where?  I haven't heard of any such thing...

Just kidding. I got 5 for you this morning.

Question for TAN... If your pace booty slows to take a walk break, is it bad form to give them the "Come On! Get running!" cheer when you catch them?

Morning TAN....

Yes....bad form. However....a little slap on the butt is always a firm motivator for them. Nothing says "good job" like a firm hand to the butt.

Followed by a nice elbow to the nose or a nice quick back fist to the groin.

Hi TAN!

I just came back from getting 2 of the vaccines I need for this whole USCIS crap stuff.  Only 1 more, and then the actual medical exam, plus results from my TB & Syphilis blood work, and we *should* be able to send in all the applications for my Green Card!  Yay!

Hi TAN, my real job is effing crazy busy trying to save 1.2 M in order to save employees jobs in Corp America, some of the people I don't like that much.....but will continue to work hard to keep them working.

ON a more exciting note:  I may have an opportunity to start my own business.  I am SOOOOO excited.  Talk to my first investor last night, and he was in for 800,000K with no questions asked.  I just need to get a patent and then I will share my ideas with TAN.  There still hope for me to be rich!!!
