I can't figure it out, except that there must be a FLOOD of people just slightly better than me (and probably better looking) applying for the same jobs. Or maybe every job already has someone in mind when it's posted, I know that happens a lot. It's tough. I've even had multiple recommendations for jobs and NOTHING. |

Thanks Lisa - I've even got the managing partner of a law firm trying to help me out (sadly his firm isn't hiring so he's trying to put me in touch with firms that are) and still nothing. The other thing that annoys me is places that leave the job up on their job boards when the position has been filled. If the position is no longer available, take the listing down! I have to keep reminding myself that I really haven't been searching all that long, and I don't even have the all-important SSN yet. One day something will work out. |

Well if things keep going the way they are going here I will be joing in the job hunt. The upside to my job is there are very few of us who do it comparatively so there are always more job openings than applicants. The downsid is you have to go where the job is.

Side note. Upgrading a computer is like doing home repairs. It's NEVER as "easy" as you think and you have to make several trips. I wanted to upgrade my video to play the new SimCity game. After almost 150 bucks and a couple hours, I didn't even get what I wanted. |

I forget that if I don't stay current in an almost dally manner, you get left behind. I want to play the new SimCity game that came out a couple days ago. I looked at the min requirements and the recommended requirements. My computer KILLED both of them except in one category come to find out. Video. Apparently, I have the intel integrated chipset that is 64 dedicated and can "borrow" memory from the processor. Good for office work, not so good for games. SimCity suggested getting a dedicated video card the was such and such version of nvidia or such and such version of ati or better. They also have a "test your system" button and it said my current video wasn't sufficient. Sucks, cuz the machine is only a year old. The program THEN pointed me to some GeForce based cards but all of them were 250 or higher (cost). No way for a game I'm going to play only occasionally. SO, go to best buy, end up with a evga Geforce 620. get home, install it, but find the video out is hdmi mini and dvi. I was running hdmi out of both SO, back to the store, 50 bucks later, get HDMI mini cables. ALSO, what ever they say they needed on specs is not listed ANYWHERE on the box. I got a middle of the road (80 bucks) card that sounded good when I read everything. I get home, install everything, run the diagnostic and I STILL don't meet the recommended requirements. However, I'm close (I think). and I meet the minimum. So I will just live with it. I wonder what the difference would have been if I went up for a game like simcity. I'm just frustrated that they say what you need, but it's not listed on the box if that works (of the video card).
