Extreme Veteran 1491 northeast Ohio | Subject: RE: Discovery Team Thread Way to go everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job!!!!! I did my third "ride" today when I commuted to and from work. I normally take a longer route, but wimped out this morning because of the heat and humidity. A cold front moved through and now the temps are great, but I took the short way home because I have ribs cooking in the crockpot all day!!!!! Edited by drdi 2007-07-11 4:42 PM |

Hi - the stages cycled are the only compulsory... everything else is optional! There has been a strong preference for keeping with the theme of the challenge to compare the efforts of BT to the pro peloton BUT its all just cream... Only stages are needed for the challenge. |

Extreme Veteran 1491 northeast Ohio | Subject: RE: Discovery Team Thread Hello teamies! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I just finished my 6th stage of the challenge. Next week will be a kind of recovery/taper week getting ready for my race on Sunday where I am doing the bike leg for a relay team in a sprint tri. I'm really happy that I have finished 4 weeks of heavy (for me) riding where I averaged around 100 miles/week. I think a slacker week is in order! I'll still do some shorter rides, but nothing big. |

Champion 10019 , Minnesota | Subject: RE: Discovery Team Thread Wow, I just couldn't ride that much! I am up to 6 rides overall and about half as many miles... and I'm tired - how sad I have definitely taken this challenge to heart, though, I am riding a lot more than I usually would. |

Yo team! Here's where we're at right now, as of 6pm central time. If you see a discrepancy give me a holler. And TexOma, I wasn't able to find your goal for total tours, can you let me know about that? |

Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: RE: Discovery Team Thread Hi - there has been a few requests in the last 24 hours to STOP posting live TDF updates in team threads. This is due to a lot of people wanting to watch the action later in the day WITHOUT knowing the results. Would enough people be interested in taking the live action related discussions to another thread out of the team threads to avoid this issue? Team leaders can you please let me know? I must admit Im probably the most guilty of this as I genuinely want teams to know whats happening with their pro counterparts to really get into it... and with me watching it live til 2am then heading straight it bed I get REALLY excited and post results... But... its more a time difference related head spin. I totally understand having to delay watching the action... I know not everyone can devote their whole life to TDF action for a month! So my suggestion... is this.... 1) No results from the previous nights stage will be posted in any Team thread until the next days stage starts... giving everyone 24 hours to watch the action or at least KNOW what to expect 2) Set up a seperate TDF Challenge - Live Action thread for teams to talk about their pro riders... (if there is enough interest) 3) If teams are happy to have stage updates posted in their Team thread let me know and I will continue - otherwise 24 hour code of silence applies to EVERYONE taking part in the challenge What do you all think? |

Pro 4054 yep, | Subject: RE: Discovery Team Thread I like that idea, to have a seperate thread. I mean I do watch the Tour in the morning so it doesn't matter to me. But yes to help everyone else. |

Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: RE: Discovery Team Thread Ok as I mentioned earlier I have set up a thread to discuss the results of your team in the tour... its in the challenge forum and I suggest you use it to talk about the teams successes and make sure everyone else see's it!! As I suggested earlier there is to be no talking about the previous stage in team threads UNTIL the next stage commences.... Please get in on the action its been very entertaining so far, and remember to take it in the spirit of fun and team spirit it is intended. Happy Cycling Cat |

Extreme Veteran 1491 northeast Ohio | Subject: RE: Discovery Team Thread Well teamies, I had an interesting ride after work this evening. Got home, fed the dogs and did the chicken chores and ran into the house to check the weather radar. A squall line associated with a cold front was out over the open waters of Lake Erie and heading this way. Let's just say I don't make a very good weather forecaster. I figured I had a about 1 hour before the rain would reach my house. I was off by about 15 minutes. I think I was at about the 1/2 point when I saw the storm clouds coming and realized I probably was going to get wet. So as I was pedaling my arse off about 1 mile from my house, the winds started to gust and the rain started to pelt down sideways. The torrential downpour waited until I stored my bike, but by the time I ran to the house, I was soaked. At least having that big black storm cloud behind me kept me working hard. Ended up with a 16.3 mph average and while that may seem slow to most, let me just say that you won't see me pushing my heavy steel touring bike much faster. (I think I did it once in a race.) Happy biking all! |
