The "problem" with football (if it's a problem) is that it's SUCH a QB/passing league, that if your QB has a bad day, you are toast.

Your start player on a baseball/hockey/basketball team can have a "bad" game and the team still has a decent shot or is competitive.  If Peyton or Brady go down or have the flew or just are off for a game?  It's basically over unless you get a lot of defensive/special teams luck/help.

GomesBolt - 2013-01-01 11:13 AM I'd say AP.

He was 9 yards shy of a record that was set in 1984.

He did surpass a 9 year old mark in a pass-happy league.

Maybe he'll end up 9 votes short of the MVP.

Adrian deserves the MVP without a doubt...and I'm not just saying that because I am a Vikings fan.  No doubt, Peyton had a great year, but please...the Broncos were a playoff team with Orton and Tebow at qb.

Adrian = League MVP, Peyton = Comeback Player of the Year.

I guess technically they were since the DID get there.  And even beat the Steelers on some sort of miracle pass.

But if you recall, they were 8 and 8 that year along with the rest of the dismal AFC West and got in on some kind of triple tie break.  They were FAR from a legitimate playoff team, IMO.  And half of those 8 wins to get them there defy logic and were crazy wins.  To the point, everyone was joking that Tebow MUST have god on his side with the way they were pulling them out.

That's why I like teams with better defenses in the "win or go home" playoffs. Star individual offensive players can have bad days (or be limited by defensive schemes), solid defenses almost always show up.

JoshR - 2012-12-31 1:02 PM Go Seahawks! Russell Wilson should be ROY but he won't get it because everyone is slobbering over Luck in spite of his 18 INT's which is more than RG3 and RW combined.

It's pretty much 6 of one half-dozen of the other for me when it comes to ROY. Luck took a 2-14 team to the playoffs and didn't have Morris/Lynch (ranked 2 and 3 in Rushing yds) to hand the ball off to like RG3 and Wilson. A LOT more was put on his shoulders and he did a heck of a job. Not to detract from RG3 and Wilson, but they had more to work with. Plus, Wilson was handed a win, a TD and had 1 less INT than he should have, just sayin

I'm busy looking at stats like completion %. I'm looking at the top 30 QB's in the league and I can't seem Luck's name anywhere. The big problem with his season is in a lot of the bad stat's he ranks right up there with Sanchez, whatever the Cardinals QB trio is called, and other's. He's done very poorly in INT's, completion %, YPA. He also has a much better WR corps than RW or RG3 IMO. I don't think any Colts fan would willingly trade WR's with Seattle.

Since you are looking at completion %, INT's, and YPA, shouldn't you be saying RG3 should be ROY? He was better than Wilson in all of those, while rushing for nearly 2x as many yards.

The INT's point needs a little context I thin though. Luck threw an INT roughly every 34 passes, Wilson every 39, RG 3 every 78. I would expect Luck's INT rate to be a little higher than the other two considering he threw the ball about 70% more than they did. It is a little easy to defend the pass when you know it's coming. That said, RG3's INT number is really impressive.

Ray Lewis' t-shirt that he wore under his pads had Psalm 51 which is interesting considering the wearer.

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

I just found that interesting.

Disregard. It was Psalm 91... That has less significance to Ray specifically...

I'd be okay if RG3 won it. Luck is just a turnover machine though. In addition to his 18 INT's he also had 9 fumbles. Watching the game today, he had 2 TO's and had at least 2 easy INT's dropped by Reed and Lewis.

Well, Baltimore took care of Indy. I'm feeling good about Baltimore here... even thought they are better with Lewis and Suggs back.

Looking at Den/Pats in the Championship.

Not really surprised GB won. What can you do with your back up QB.

Real shame RG3 was not 100%... that would have been a great game. SH spotted them 14 points then took it over. Wilson is quite an asset and dare I say Seahawks look dangerous....

but just one thing... I can't stand seeing Carrol smiling. I really do not like seeing him win.

I still see Niners and ATL in the championship.

Of those 4 teams, they all have a shot at making the SB.

But Psalm 91 is a pretty standard "be not afraid" type passage. It's one the military chaplains love to spread when you're at war.

I like to think he's a different person than he was in 2000. But yeah, by no means an angel.

I think Seattle matches up well with Atlanta. Our run defense has been suspect for awhile and it showed in the little that Washington ran it. Our pass defense is much better IMO and that's what Atlanta us going to try and do. Sherman needs to quit running his mouth quite so much. The 49ers will suffer if Smith isn't back at full speed. He's the key to that D line.

So is Pete Carroll this good as a coach this time around? Maybe more coaches should go from Pro to College to Pro again.

It's playoff football and anything can happen.  But I really am excited about the Broncos with Manning.  They really have gotten better each week running into the playoffs.  Homefield is nice...but Sports Authority Field just ins't the same as the old "Mile High".  Denver did beat Baltimore a few weeks ago but that was without Ray Lewis...and I believe typically, Denver has a hard time against the Ravens. Anyway, wish I would have put some money down on the Broncos back in September.

So the reports call for record lows today for the game. That will generally favor a running game, defense, and not so much passing.
