Remember When...... (Page 3)

I loved Greatest American Hero, legwarmers and the original HBO.

Donny & Marie.  I had the poster, the barbie dolls that had holes in the hands for the microphones and the purple outfits, I saw them in concert - twice.

What about Beanie Boppers.  We actually wore them in public.  Probably with our legwarmers, rainbow suspenders and feathered hair.  That's when we also had the Michael Jackson poster in our room - the one where he was wearing the yellow sweater and his eyes followed you wherever you went.

I was just thinking about an old show last night - Rags to Riches.  The one where it was liek a take off on Annie and a bunch of orphans lived with a rich family (I think) and they would break out in song at random times like in a musical.

when batman and Robin was on TV

The superfriends were on

Land of the Lost

when if you wanted privacy on the phone at home, you had this really long cord to go into another room

when I was the remote control

when the TV repair guy came to the house

you first got your license, and every turn seemed like you were going fast enough to tip over...maybe that was just me

We would go roller skating on the weekends

your favorite bands weren't classic rock

When the scariest cartoon was Scooby-Doo?  And we got to watch Underdog, Casper, The Jetsons, The Flintstones...

Now I have to censor which cartoons my kids can watch if they're not on PBS.  I don't like the attitude they have after watching something like Bratz and some of the other ones are just scary.

My wife and I had this same discussion after seeing what Bratz and Rugrats were about. I have every Underdog epsiode on DVD, thank you Cracker Barrel.

A shared telephone line that you asked the operator to dial for you and if you picked it up and other people were talking you'd hang up because it was your neighbor using the line. 

Those old fashioned mini bikes with the little fat tires that seemed like the fastest things in the world once you got 'em opened up.

Leaving doors unlocked all the time.

Tubing with a real truck tire inner tube where you just looped the ski rope around the tube and you had to be careful to make sure the valve was pointing down when you started cuz that sucker hurt!

"Hey, you got your chocolate in my peanut butter!"

I used to put the tape recorder in front the the TV speaker to record the theme song from favorite shows.....like Greatest American Hero, Dukes of Hazzard (before I heard the song on the radio). 

...making a mix tape for a girlfriend was an act of true devotion, requiring hours and hours of effort.

I had a Beani hat and the little propeller flew off.    Beanie and Cecil.
