Yeah...the longer the race, the more the price goes up. Hell the sprint is $75 if you don't get in during the early bird...

maggyruth - 2008-10-03 9:55 AM If you don't have a USAT membership, they are going to charge you the $10 daily fee.  Add to that the fees for Active.  My total (since I do have a membership) came to $102 something...so the $110 sounds about right...The actual price for the HIM (after the early bird) is $150...

What is USAT?  I will go google.

And thanks for the definition's ladies.

I'm in for the half also...first one. My plan is to slowly transition from the "finish this thing as fast as I can" mindset to "see how slow you can go so you don't crash and burn before it's over" mindset. Heck, first oly was a month ago, so I'm not good enough to set any PRs on long distances yet.

P.S. I did the Door County sprint two summers ago, and the swim was nice but the bike had at least one monster hill in the half. That's why their slogan was "you can't bluff the bluff".

I am in for my first half - it was between this and Steelhead - hopefully the boat from Michigan to Milwaukee is not too wavy - I have heard horror stories about how bad it can be. This race gets great reviews from everything I have seen and am very excited (good price too).

I also have this sense of having gone off the deep end.  I must be nuts!

I registered yesterday. Talked to the husband and he said, "well, why wouldn't you?" Dang, that man rocks.

Of course, I feel someone insane for having done it.

Once again he enters the room and the tone of the conversation takes a nose dive.  It  could actually be considered a talent . . . I guess.

I don't know about that.  I heard you were the bad influence   I suppose it all depends on what you consider bad.

I am sure Toby is an incredibly bright baby (as well as adorable) but I doubt he can read yet.  I'm thinking if he could he would be shocked at what daddy was saying (or rolling his eyes, kids do that to their parents when they are older)

don't forget gagging.  I've seen kids gag as well.  Even my sister in laws in reference to their mother.
