crowny2 - 2009-03-06 11:39 AM John.  Did we ever get a team name?

I entered the team as Team BT, which is the form that most RAGBRAI teams take (Team Skunk, Team Blonde, Team Roadkill, Team Toe Ring, Team wipe your A@# before you get in the saddle, etc.).  Certainly we can change our name for the t-shirt printing if we choose to.

Speaking of which, we need to get busy on developing a team nae (if we are going to change it) and a team t-shirt design.  Crowny, you are in charge.  The other team members are:

Lvethgme

TheSchwamm

BeCivil (and a buddy of his)

Nette213

You

Me

Possibly Soggyfeline

Possibly Sprin D_A - I think we can still talk him inot riding a couple of days.

You are the man!!!

In charge of what?  Design?  Dude, I'm a scientist.  Not a creative bone in my body.  At least as it relates to artsy stuff like that.

As to names...... I like your idea about putting it up to a COJ vote.  At least it would be interesting.

Crowny - I know you are young and went to a sub-standard college, but please, man, you need to learn to be a leader.  You are in charge, so you organize, my friend.  You delegate.  The only person you cannot delegate to is, well, me.

Dude.  It is SOOOOoooo on!

Crowny: I am quite creative and crafty so I will definately give you a hand.  I am getting really excited about the event.  I spoke with a person while in NC that is crazy about this race as well and hopes to do it next year.

Hello to all.

RAGBRAI lotery results are posted as of this morning.
Please go to www.RAGBRAI.org and search the lottery results for your name.
My name was on the list, so I expect everyone else's to be there too - but I want to make sure that there were no errors, so please check and if there are errors, I can contact the RAGBRAI officials.
Otherwise, the packets should be sent to my near the end of May.
Get your butts ready,  I would recommend Beljum Budder.   First beer is on me.

Ok - follow up for planning purposes.
I have secured a 15' straight truck that will serve as our gear wagon/off day/ Schwammmalammaride.  I do a lot of business with Ryder so I got them to throw in the rental cost for free  - which is $270 for the week.  We still have to pay for mileage and fuel.  The mileage is at a rate of .072 per mile or somewhere around $80.  Fuel - who knows - about 100 gallons is a decent guess - at $2.50 a gallon (assuming Diesel) less for ethanol, or $250.  Grand total of near $330 divided amongst the 7 of us, so plan for about $50.
Second thing is - Council Bluffs has anounced that the BareNaked Ladies will perform at the RAGBRAI kick-off - Here is the press release.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA

Before the 10,000 RAGBRAI® cyclists start their “One

Week”, 442-mile trek across the state of Iowa on bicycles, they will be singing and

dancing to the tunes of

Barenaked Ladies as part of the 6th annual Mid-America

Ribfest.

RAGBRAI participants are eligible to purchase a special all-weekend pass, which

includes the

Barenaked Ladies concert for only $10. *Must Show official RAGBRAI

WRISTBAND (or proper RAGBRAI ID) to receive discounted admission. RAGBRAI Allweekend

passes will be available online, at the Mid-America Center Box Office,

Ticketmaster.com, and all Ticketmaster outlets

, or by phone at 800-745-3000.

– Barenaked Ladies will take the stage

July 18 in Council Bluffs.

Are y'all sure you want me driving a truck?

i have noticed that i have more bike miles than some of you. Keep in mind that i'm NOT riding my bike for RAGBRAI, and i had my foot cut open in March. i think SOME people had better start riding!!

Nice job finding the plan.  It looks good to me and very workable, especially with all the travel coming up for me in the months ahead.  Most hotel exercise rooms have a cycle like piece of equipment that I could use.  If not, I will just run instead!  Thankfully, I am usually home on the weekends and the area bike shops have weekend group rides both Sat/Sun.

Thoughts on this as a training plan?  Anyone have something better I should use?  I've never uh...ridden much.  YIPE!  =)

It looks okay to me. I should be able to get a couple of "dreds" in before then as well!!

Okay, I'm such a biking newb.  I'm looking for a couple jerseys (which I SWORE I'd never own, but now I see an actual need for them).  Any recommendations?  I'll also be buying another pair or two of bike shorts...Thoughts on those?

bonktown.com has a bunch of women's jerseys and shorts and stuff.  You've got plenty of time before July even with one deal at a time.

A friend of mine picked up some jerseys from goodwill also.  And on the RAGBRAI site it suggested just buying their cheap t-shirts every day so you didn't have to pack out a bunch of filthy jerseys all week.

When is everyone getting into Omaha/CB?  Are you parking in Burlington and shuttling to CB?  How are you getting back to Omaha?  I know that BeCivil is flying out near Burlington.

I am trying to work out details for traveling from TX to IA.  I have found a guy in Nagodoches to ride up with.  He is a veteran RAGBRAI rider and is suggesting parking in Burlington and shuttling to CB on the 18th.  I have family and friends in Omaha and CB so I was hoping to get there on Friday to spend a minute before Sunday's start. This may have to go away to work out this new set up.

What are you all planning?
