Laura, your wet suit looks a little short in the arms.

Ok we earned HARD CORE points today!!

Wow, Laura, you look tall.  I know the doc's not exactly an Amazonian giant, but I don't remember you being THAT much taller.

Way to go ladies, next time, I'll be on shore with hot spiked cider in hand.

DrLeah - 2008-04-22 5:12 PM Thanks Mike. I was thinking I looked extra short in that pic - I think my knees were a little bent. Yah, that's it

Well, yeah, because I don't think you're super short, just short.  That pic makes you look really short, though.

Good job getting in the cold ladies !!!! I have a wetsuit question. Did your new Orca suit fit pretty much as per the sizing chart? I am looking at an WL Orca online that says 5'9" to 6'0 ~ 145 - 160 lbs and I am 5' 11" & 1/2 about 147 - 151 depending on the day. I keep meaning to get down to one of the shops to try some on, but time escapes me.

I definitely suggest you go somewhere to try them on.  Each brand fits a little different.  While they all pretty much fit according to the size chart for me for example the Zoot brand doesn't fit in the shoulder correctly.

Thanks, I figured my best bet was to try some on. I just have to carve out some time somewhere. There are only a few brands with woman's sizing to 6'0" so I think my choices are going to be a bit limited.

I played the game... went to Speedtheory and tried some on.  The woman working, I believe her name was Kim was AWESOME!  told me how to put it on, how to adjust it, explained how it should fit and everything.  Then i wrote down the brand and style suit and bought it of www.probikekit.com for 2/3 the price Innocent.  But I bought my body glide and some gels from speedtheory that day.

I can't get myself to do that.  If I go into a shop and find the perfect product with excellent help and service, I have to buy from them.  If I get no service then I don't feel guilty taking my business elsewhere.  The good shops deserve our support.

What will you do when that business is gone because no one is buying from them because everyone plays the same "game". Was the awesome service not worth anything to you?

Speed Theory is where I keep meaning to go. Someone told me they thought the Denman running room sold wetsuits. Anyone know if they do? They are the only lower mainland running room outlet that sell the 2xu tri top I have been looking at and I have my 20% off vector coupon burning a hole in my pocket.

So, your saying that if the same burger can be ordered for say 1/3rd of the cost. You would get that burger that cost 3/3rds?

Hey, I am all about supporting your stores, but if you have trouble coming up with disposable funds...do what you got to do...

Oh, the never ending debate!! Gotta love it!

RR on Denman does sell some tri stuff, but don't look at them for any advice.

Tri 3 Sports in Port Moody is also another great shop for tri gear, they carry a lot of 2XU and Zoot stuff.

Just to pad my post count...I agree, RR is selling the suits becasue of the increased desire for tri-gear. tri 3 sports will take the time and make sure you are making the proper investment. Just because you save a lot of money on a suit doesn't mean you are going to enjoy it or that it will be the right one for you. I think the suit may be one of the most important peices of gear you will buy, so make sure it fits very well. Reasearch the heck out of the suits and try a bunch on before you buy. There is a store in Vancouver on Main and 27th??? Can't remember the name, but he really know his stuff and really takes the time to make sure you get what you need (as does TriGeeks)

Pacific Multisport.

I like the shop. He makes me feel very welcome when I bring my little boy along!  On top of that, he's one of the few shops that gives off that neat and orderly appearance I like in a bike mechanic.

I really liked Pacific Multisport as well.
Been back there multiple times, and he (John) was awesome.

The last time (and only time) I was at Speed Theory, I felt almost ignored. I was easily the youngest person in the store, and it felt as though I didn't exist as everyone around me was helped, even if they got there after me. Finally I gave in and pulled a guy aside, can't remember his name, but the second the word "budget" came in, I was getting one word answers.

Being ignored and being made to feel like some sort of peasant doesn't really make me want to go back!

Speed Theory does seem to cater more to the "high end" crowd that will spend crazy amounts of money on gear and toys. I'm definitely not one of those types so I feel somewhat the same way when I go in there as Derek. Haven't been into Pacific Multisport but have heard a lot of good things about them.
