And thanks for the advice and great perspective on simply getting to the line healthy! As for predictions, I'll keep with party line and say finishing is fine. However, I'll admit that I've been checking `08 times recently and goal elevation is certainly something I'm falling victim to ;-) --Chris Yeah me too. I started just wanting to finish the thing and now I am shooting for 13 hours or less. I've got to control myself and just stay focused on getting to the start line then the finish line healthy and still married. |

Champion 9430 No excuses! | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Question for the veterans of the heat. The bike course, I was watching the Versus coverage yesterday and it says two loops on the bike. So it looks like you go out and then a short out and back and then do two loops of the back portion of the course? Am i correct on this? |

If you make it to the start married, I bet you'll also make it to the finish married. (It'd be a shame to be handed your divorce papers in T2...). As for healthy, well, that's a different story I guess. |

You only go back to Louisville just to finish correct, not like a true two loop course? |

Extreme Veteran 510 Louisville KY | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Yep that's right Mike just like you said. A little spur then out to Lagrange for the two loops they have a festival downtown Lagrange for spectators. Then you head back to Louisville. ...even if you THINK you are lost. On two different occasions I found myself out on the road and did not see any other bikers up ahead or behind and no race officials or signs or aid stations. I thought maybe I'd "zoned out" and blew right by a turn or something. But I'd overestimated my scatterbrainednessicty (I just coined that word) and in a mile or so I saw other riders.
But not to worry, there are people (not just signs) at every turn yelling "turn, turn, turn!" ~Mike |

'Cause you may be underestimating my propensity for getting lost on race courses--it's legendary. I've had all sorts of interesting adventures, of course, but for an IM I NEED to stay on course! Somebody tell me the run course is really well-marked too. Please. I can get lost on a straight out-and-back course. I get lost going between work and MY HOUSE ... |

Don't worry, you will not get lost on race day. The only thing you do have to remember is what lap your on. When you pass the point where the Loopers Turn around and the finishers go straight is where you need to remember so as to avoid turning the Ironman Run into an Ultra. The run course is very simple and you can just follow the trail of green Gatorade cups. :-) It easy to follow and I'm not even gonna tell you about the guy that got lost and they found him the next day off in the course where he'd wondered into the hood. ~Mike |
