So what you are saying is the SEC is a 3 team league? Either that or you are saying the SEC isn't deep as #3 in the league is in the "bottom rungs" , as you put it, of the league. Just GIVE UP....There is parity in college football. It's is NOT the SEC and everyone else....It is more likely USC then Florida....THEN everyone else. I am not saying the SEC isn't good. They are darn good. I am saying the pac10, B10, B12, (some) ACC and Big.E. teams are all pretty much equal.... I made one post stating that the #3 team in the SEC played in the bowl last year. Settle down. You might want to take a look at who you're responding to before you ramble. Ain't it funny how inferiority complex tends to manifest... |

I am saying the pac10, B10, B12, (some) ACC and Big.E. teams are all pretty much equal.... I take offense to the mention of "some" ACC teams (not so much the Big East part). The ACC sucks, but I will take the ACC top to bottom over the Big10 this year. There is absolute parity in the ACC this year, so you can only say they all suck or they are all good. So now that I have admitted the ACC sucks, let's do a hypothetical Big10/ACC Challenge in Football. ACC's worst 11 versus the Big11 Start from the bottom: NC State vs. Wisconsin Big 10 Duke vs. Michigan Big 10 Clemson vs. Purdue ACC BC vs. Indiana ACC Virginia Tech vs. Iowa ACC UNC vs. Illinois ACC UVA vs. Minnesota ACC Wake Forest vs. Northwestern ACC Miami vs. Ohio State Big 10 Florida State vs. Michigan State ACC Maryland vs. Penn State Big 10 We may argue about my picks but worst case, the ACC wins 5 games. So is the ACC a better conference than they are made out to be? Hell no. Does the Big 10 suck? You have to admit I present a very compelling argument:-) NC State vs. Wisconsin Big 10 Wisconsin wins Duke vs. Michigan Big 10 Duke Wins (unbelievable) Clemson vs. Purdue ACC Clemson wins BC vs. Indiana ACC BC wins Virginia Tech vs. Iowa ACC Iowa wins UNC vs. Illinois ACC Illinois wins UVA vs. Minnesota ACC Minnesota wins Wake Forest vs. Northwestern ACC toss up Miami vs. Ohio State Big 10 The OSU wins Florida State vs. Michigan State ACC MSU wins Maryland vs. Penn State Big 10 PSU wins Assuming neutral field the Big 10 goes 7-3-1. I know who I respond to just about every time. I've said nothing in a flaming tone. Just trying to decipher how the leap is made from a nearly even record of B10 vs SEC in bowl games being a result from the B10 top tier teams playing the weaker teams from the SEC in those games. That just isn't true and I was pointing out. You pointed out the SEC #3 played last year. To me that was ticky tacky....I just posted facts. No bias when posting that.....no flaming, no name calling..etc.....it's COJ. It's all done in good fun. I have never, nor will I ever, trash anyone that I don't personally know...and I know not a single soul on BT (unfortuanately as most seem like very good, likeable, people)......SS |

That is my point with my prev. posts re: SEC vs B10. There is NO dominant conference top to bottom. IMO the best 3 teams THIS year are better in the SEC than any other conference. I also think the bottom 3 teams from the SEC are no better than the worst of the B10, ACC, or B12 (sorry PAC 10, UW and WSU are really bad this year). From your picks above I would go against you on VT and Iowa simply based on Iowas defense. Also Illinois would beat UNC. The best game of all of those would be be FSU and MSU. FSU D vs. Javon Ringer....great battle.... |

I made one post stating that the #3 team in the SEC played in the bowl last year. Settle down. You might want to take a look at who you're responding to before you ramble. If you're aware of who you're responding to, then you'd note that I didn't post a thing on this thread prior to my one simple factual statement. Not sure who you're rambling about, but it's not me. BTW, your definition of "ticky tacky" is odd. I posted something very relevant in regards to what you posted. It happened to be contrary to what you wanted to hear, so you jumped on it. That's why I told you to settle down. |

Even when a school puts together a decent team, no one can believe they have any talent, just because of the conference. Because that makes objective sense. The reason the Big Ten doesn't have a championship playoff is because they don't have enough teams, plain and simple. They have 11 teams, they could have a championship game. I suppose they could, but then they would be breaking NCAA rules. The rules say that you must have at least 12 teams in your conference to have a conference championship game. Better stated, the conference would have to have two divisions and the rules say that there must be at least 6 teams to a division. So, no, they couldn't have a championship game for the same reason that the Pac 10 doesn't have a championship game. |

If they would join the Big 10 making it the Crappy 12, it would fix so many things. There wouldn't be that automatic BCS berth for them every year they don't suck. The Crappy 12 could have a championship game. We wouldn't have to watch whoever they put up there in the national championship game get beaten just about every damn time. It would work on so many levels! I can't stand ND...but can you blame them? Go to a BCS bowl and keep >12 MILLION yourself!!! Sheez... |

FinalAnd if you take the #1 team to OT, you might feel like you deserve another shot at them. I'm sure that this will hex them, but does ANYONE that's sane really want to play Texas Tech? I'm not surprised by the Iowa result... a) Big 10 is weak b) Iowa's 4 losses were by a total of 12 points... about a half dozen plays and Iowa is 8-2 or 9-1 at this point and Top 10. (BTW, we'd still suck, weak schedule, but hey, that's the way it is this year). And I'm sure bear will tell me I'm full of crap. (waving at bear - you guys soiled some diapers in Bama land today)
I have to say that Jarrett Lee is probably hurting his team more than any other player in college right now. |

The player who did the damage is Ryan Perilloux. Lee is just the kid who was handed the keys to the Lamborghini, can't blame him if he wrecks... Still, six interceptions returned for TDs leaves you shaking your head. Good win for Iowa, now they have a second landmark game they can point to over the past fifty years, and the fluke win over LSU in the 2005 in the CapitalOne Bowl won't stand as the sole highlight of their entire program. Lot of ifs there spokesie, but as you indicated, even a 9-1 Iowa at this point would be no more highly regarded than a 5-5 SEC team. Ant I'll bet 'Bama and Florida would love to take a shot at Texas Tech. But first they have to play each other in Atlanta. |
