It's closed now...decided to try and get in, entered all my data and it said "category not found" a few times, then tried to start over and it's full.

Oh well, back to plan A IMAZ.

cusetri - 2009-07-27 1:36 PM IMLP is a half, right?

$550 is a lot for a half, looks like they are trying to up the reveune....hmmm.

What?  I hope you are joking, if you really signed up.

It's not HIMLP, it is IMLP.

Newleaf, you are good at interpreting Chirunner... can you interpret what cusetri is saying... I think he's joking?

whatever happened to good old chi?  haven't seen him around here in quite a while!

They are talking on the 'other' board that there may have been a glitch in the active.com computer system... that entry was actually closed sooner than Active was saying. I think the best way to confirm if your registration went through would be to see if your credit card was billed. If it was I would say you are in.

I think the category referred to general entry or community slot as I couldn't find the error on my entry. I didn't even get to the paying part so I know I'm not in.

I was mixed about it....I let my husband choose as he puts up with a lot for me to do this and he likes Lake Placid.  Maybe when I age up to 50-54 AG.

My master plan is to volunteer at 2010 and sign up on site for 2011. I am glad I was at the pool swimming while you were all registering or I would have gotten sucked in like 'cuse.

I was signed up for IMLP '09 but had to pull out at the last minute for personal reasons.  I was able to successfullly sign up, online, for IMLP 2010.  I'm pretty excited.

I got two confirmation e-mails, one being a receipt of payment, so I'd say I'm 100% in.

I also signed up at 12:04

We're all insane!  Who pays $576.00 so they can race 140.6 miles ... we do, I guess

PennState - 2009-07-27 1:19 PM btw registration is still open
(my guess is that they let 3,000 enter)

Do you think the extra allowance online plus the RI70.3 sign up (which I happily took advantage of to avoid risking not getting in online) could be to balance out the fact that less people are using the community fund spots? I'm not sure how many CF spots were allowed at each race, but the major races are not selling out due to the economy. Up until the last minute LP had spots and all remaining IMs this year do as well. Perhaps they are over-registering a bit to try to balance out the numbers. Or perhaps you are right and they are increasing the field significantly. I hope that's not the case. I agree that an overcrowded course can be dangerous in many ways.

Is it possible organizers are counting on a certain percentage not showing up? Like an airline? I can't imagine this would change much from year to year though. Just a thought.

Yes, the race is oversold. I am not sure if they use a formula or base it on past race data but the races are oversold.

PennState - 2009-07-27 12:58 PM I'm glad for everyone who got in, but my question is how many people did they let in for 2010?

2258 raced this year with 2051 finishing this year

*my* guess is that they increased the number of entrants this year as their were HUGE lines here.

Guess will find out next year huh?

does it matter?

if so, why?  my thoughts would be the bike is not a draft issue due to the hills breaking it up, and as far as the swim, 2250, 2500, does it matter?  washing machine either way.....

serious question....

1st loop of the bike till the end of the out & back it's pretty crowded on the course.  I was at mile 4 and a guy rode up and said there were already 2 crashes, then there was another on the Keene descent, then one more with several people in it on the flat part as you head to Jay.  4 crashes in the first hour I was on the bike.  Add a few hundred or even 25% more people to the course....wow.

Yeah, the first 20 miles was like a charity ride. I can't tell you how many "peloton" looking groups I saw out there all day. Still a lot of fun though.....

I'm in TOO!, $576 charge pending. Never thought I would get in online. Now all I have is this little race in Louisville next month and then I can plan my IMLP training schedule. Wife already made hotel res today also. Most places would not us make res until 1 Aug. Good luck to everyone and look forward to hearing from you over the next year! Jim

How are you all reserving hotel rooms? Seems the host hotel is booked up, and all the travel services I can think of only allow reservations to be made through June 2010, it seems. Do I have to call some one? Is there somewhere with a list of Lake Placid hotels? Courtyard just told me reservations will be available after August 11. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

call them, youll get a room there--on-line system says no availability.....

though, not sure you'll want to.

host hotel is 5 night min, room with no kitchen 220+  I booked before thinking it through (why start thinking now?!), room w/ micro and fridge 279+/night.

plus, one nights deposit non-refundable and full charge on June 1, non-refundable.

but, we're bringing the kids and every year we rent a house on a lake in ADKs, so its not a new expense so to speak.......

The wife and I walked the strip getting info from all the hotels/motels we could find.  Hit a few agencys checking on renting houses/condos, as well.

House/condo rental will set you back $3,500 for the week to start.  More for larger places, less for just out of town.

Hotels all had minimum bookings of between 5-7 nights.  Prices ranged from $225 to 300+ for basic rooms, more for suites/kitchenettes.  Some opened bookings Sunday after registration (earlier if you stayed this year), others had later dates where they would start booking rooms.

My wife left me on the registration line to get in line for the hotel registration that began at eleven as we weren't taking chances.  Right location, right price, right place.  They anticipated booking full yesterday, but call to see if they have availability.  Golden Arrow.  Every guest we spoke to raved.  200yards from transition and swim start.
