Hello Evil Elves-

I'm Cynthia, SAHM of two littles.  I've finished my 2nd season of tris, 4 sprints and 1 mini this year.  Next year will probably be the same, though I purchased a wetsuit to do a colder water swim (WHAT was I thinking??!) so might mix it up from my comfort zone.  My DH is thinking about doing some tri-ing with me... to that end, I'm shopping for a used road bike for him.  Anyone got a 57/58cm for under $500 to sell?!

My off season has been awful.  like last year.  well, so far this year *IS* a little better than last, I'm not on the couch, but I was, again, walloped with an autumn cold that waylaid post season running plans.  So I'm now just chugging along, catch as catch can - doing whatever keeps me moving.  That said, I think the pool water might be good for my skin (?!) so I'm making an effort to get back into the water regularly.  I made swimming and running sessions my goal for the first 3 weeks of December... the last week will be gluttony and sloth.

After a morning session at the gym, I'm 1/8 done with my goals!!

-Cynthia

Hi Cynthia!  Are you keeping an eye on ebay?  Lots of bikes.  And I got a great deal on Craigslist this month.  Hope you find something!

Hello team, Had a great run this morning. My boss and I had a morning work appointment and she asked if I wanted to go for a jog afterwards. I knew she was a runner, but didn't know how avid she was. I had planned on biking today, but what the heck, she's the boss. We ended up having an awesome 7+ mile run. i didn't have my Garmin, so I'll have to calculate the exact mileage, but I've found a new running buddy... and she's the boss (Boss's boss, actually). Go figure! I'm off work tomorrow, so I'll jump on the bike trainer after I get the kids off to school. So far, right on track for December Goals... Go Elves!

I hopped on the rollers again this morning and managed to stay upright the whole session ;) I'd forgotten how hard the rollers are.

Got a short little run in today.  I pushed the baby in the running stroller.  I ran fast for a training run!  Do I have something to prove by running fast while pushing a stroller????  I need to slow down!!!!  On second thought......maybe it had something to do with the sign stating that a mountain lion has been prowling around on the trail.  I, honestly, wasn't worried about it.  I'm more worried about the rabid foxes that have been biting people on my other running route.  I've been avoiding that area!

Mountain lions???? Yikes!  I hear you though about foxes.  I see them all the time on my runs.  I ran up on one in the middle of the road once who just stood his ground.  Needless to say I backtracked and went home a different route.  There is a den across from my house and every summer the female has a litter of 5 or 6.  They are cute when they're little.  We had a bear hanging about this summer, but he was mostly looking for garbage cans.  Lots of wildlife in the burbs here.

We also have a den on the hill behind our house. We get a litter of 5-6 every other year. Our kids get a kick out of watching the cubs (is that what their called?) play around. I can only hope they don't turn rabid and attack me when I'm running or biking. Cujo!!!

What's amazing is that I live 40 miles from Central Park in NYC and I see an amazing diversity of wildlife.   Supposedly we have a couple of coyotes in the *hood* but I've never seen them.

I live near to open fields/farmland/woods, etc, but don't see much interesting wildlife. I see foxes every so often, but never while I'm running or biking.

Hey Evil Elves!

Looks like I'm the newbie here.  My name is Gerardo - friends call me Chezz.  I am originally from Guatemala, and moved to NC almost 3 years ago.  Took up running with my wife and finished this year with 3 half marathons.  I joined a running group and that turned my training into a whole different level.

I'm new to tri, and will do my first sprint next year, although I am so siked that I have the whole season already planned!! (i think  Wink)  I do not want to drown, so my focus will be on swimming and trying to lose some weight.  Found the site just recently and that was exactly what I needed, challenges, make some friends and people that will help push myself.  My beautiful wife had to be sidelined due to a foot injury so my running was really affected.

Looking foreward to chip in so our team wins this month!

Cheers

ATTENTION ALL DU-DECEMBER CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS:

Make sure that you have your training data updated in your team spreadsheet by 10:00 PM US Central time (11 East, 9 Mtn, 8 Pacific - other parts of the world - you have to do the math...) on Sunday nights.  That would be Dec 6, 13, 20, and 27.  Each Sunday night I will publish a quick run down of the team standings!

If your team has injuries or illness, we can pro-rate the goals for days missed - however, please let me know before changing the goals.

Keep up the training!  Good luck to everyone!

Hi Elves,

I did a walk/run workout this morning; it's not a challenge event, but it's getting me that much closer to being able to run again. It's sooo hard to be patient!
