Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team 2 - January Challenge rnihill - 2010-01-01 5:02 AM OK, now for some "real" posts... Can you tell I'm bored with the kids cartoons at 7:30 am on New Years Day? We are at my sister in laws house so I feel bad waking everyone else up! Anyway, I planned out my goals yesterday and will get them in the spreadhseet today or tomorrow when I get home. I will increase my run and bike goals from last month and also add some swims back in and add some pushups and situps. I've been too lazy to go to the pool and I've been trying to do the 100 pushup plan. I've been stuck on Week 4, Day 1 for 2 weeks! OK, off to make some breakfast.. Happy New Years everyone! Feel your frustration. I just failed week 5, session 1. Going to repeat week 4. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Team 2 - January Challenge I'm looking at a slow start for the month. After my long run the other day, I came up a little sore in my hip-back. I'm planning on taking a few days off of my running, definately skipping speedwork for the week, and easing back into the marathon schedule. Shouldn't effect my totals for the month at all. 1 hr bike trainer today and short strength workout this morning. |

After taking December as a very off off-season, I'm excited to get back to it! I'll figure out my goals and post them to the spreadsheet today. Hope everyone has a fantastic day! |

Expert 711 | Subject: RE: Team 2 - January Challenge Great work, everyone!! I am getting on my bike tonight so will have something to contribute later on. I'm actually going to be trying my rollers for the first time, so I'm a little bit scared. Hopefully I won't get hurt! It looks like we are officially The Epiphanies! I will ask Dee to set us up. Have a good night! |

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: Team 2 - January Challenge Anybody else watching the marathon of the last decades of Kona on Universal Sports today? I've had it on all day, just while I was doing stuff at home. I seem to remember 2005 being a little bit different, like they're showing a different program. And why did they show every year except 2003? I've never seen that one. |

It looks like we are officially The Epiphanies! I will ask Dee to set us up. Have a good night! I've heard the best way to go about this is to set them up in a doorway. Position yourself so your elbows are aligned with the jamb. That way if you start to veer or fall, you can elbow yourself back into position. Good Luck! |

Plan on using them for some future bike trainer inspiration. |

Expert 711 | Subject: RE: The Epiphanies (Team 2) - January Challenge Thanks, Dee! My bike ride tonight was cut short because a) I couldn't let go of the door frame without certain death and b) I think I have mechanical bike issues unrelated to the rollers. I guess it's back to the spin bike for me while I sort this all out... But I did get a good 15 mins in to avoid a goose egg on the first day of our challenge! |

Veteran 175 Oklahoma City, OK | Subject: RE: The Epiphanies (Team 2) - January Challenge Hello fellow Epiphanies. This is my first BT Challange and I wanted to introduce myself.......my name is Holly. My season ended early last year due to injury then my training got very sporadic & went down hill from there so I am really excited to get some consistency back. I entered my goals for the month on the spreadsheet and got my first workout in today. Swam 1000 yards then did a 15 minute easy jog on the treadmill after. |

Master 2005 Silverton, Oregon | Subject: RE: The Epiphanies (Team 2) - January Challenge Nice job on the workouts today! I entered my goals on the spreadsheet, and got the month started with a 10 mile trainer ride and a 1 mile run brick. I was hoping to watch the marathon Ironman World Championships today, but couldn't get Universal Sports to come in here in The Dalles. |

I'd be really terrified of rollers. Youtube is not my friend in this case, as it only provides more fuel for the fire. I just did 40 minutes on the trainer. I was watching Kona 2008, and right when I felt like slowing down and stopping it got to the part where Chrissie gets the flat and then gets going again. Of course I had to keep pushing, too! |

Spin Class for an hour & then 6.4k run. Went well. Long run tomorrow morning. How's everyone else? Nice job!! Feels good getting out of the penalty box, huh? I'm with you - just logged my first 2 days!! I haven't been good about strength training - being the smart person I am, I decided to get back into it by trying out a free bootcamp yesterday put on at my gym. It went well yesterday - I just don't want to move today - OUCH!!! Off to a good start though - "long" trainer ride yesterday watching US and a recovery spin ride today followed by yoga. Hopefully this soreness subsides for tomorrow's long run and short swim - b/c all I want to do today is go back to bed, LOL! Happy Training All!

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: The Epiphanies (Team 2) - January Challenge I watched the kids this morning while my wife did a 10k trail run. It was hard for me to be there and not be running. I guess I'm competitive to a fault. It was all for good though with my hip-back still being sore. No longer got home and I had to take my oldest son to baseball practice. For God's sake, it's January! Baseball players are not the boys of summer anymore. I'm planning on hitting the pool later. |

I am so terrified of getting a flat in a race. I'm sure I would want to just throw in the towel. Actually, now that I have race wheels with tubulars, I don't know if I would even bother trying to change it out on my own. Good for you to keep pushing! It's always great to have some extra inspiration on the trainer. |

Mmm, sounds gorgeous! How bad was the hangover?? I love the idea of an epiphany every day. I think today my epiphany was "I am not always in control. And that's okay." I might need to have that same epiphany a few times before it sticks though. I am a textbook Type A personality. |
