LOL! I immediately thought of an inappropriate retort but I'll keep it to myself.  LOL! I crack myself up.

I am standing my my original post on this thread. No SO, and my next one will be into this world too so we can support each other.

I think tupuppy can figure it out. He apparetnly lives in the gutter too. I wasn't thinking along the "athletic supporter=jock strap" route but that is hilarious.

I like gutter thoughts....What am I figuring out though??  Or do I really HAVE to start at the beginning and read this thread to figure it out??  (slip and slide into the gutter)

My husband and I are training to do our first tri in a few weeks. He is not training nearly as much as I am and I think his biggest problem with me doing tris is that he knows there is a very real possibility that I am going to beat him.... we'll see. We are very competitive and I can't tell you how happy I would be if I did beat him!

gee.... I can't come up with any triathlon related problems. He's got his own time consuming sport (karate). He's out twice a week for two half hours. Now, actually. His charity group (KC) takes up so much time the first week of the month (3 meetings, cause he's an officer). I want to strangle the old fart who thought Friday nights at 7pm were a great time to have meetings! He supports me in tri totally. The thing I hate is when he's got to work on a race day. I hate driving myself. He's also making sure I eat right, take my vitamin, and even sometimes runs the track workouts with me and not at his pace b/c I'm so slow and I would be all by myself. But... all that aside, he's got several nuances that really get on my nerves and I could just whack him for!! I'm sure he thinks the same of me. ahhhhhh..........

She has issues with wheels, so she can’t come on rides with me.
She gets distracted by dead seals on the beach and loses pace with the run.
She is afraid of swimming, and whines when I go beyond the waves.
She misses junk food snacks like french fries.
She is jelous when I come home sweaty and she wasn’t a part of it.
She covets my peanut butter energy bars.
She is irked that now, when I put on my running shoes, she’s usually not invited.
She doesn’t recognize me when I put my helmut on.

That's a dog of a SO you have there, Frances! I'm sure she has some redeeming qualities (loyalty, big wet kisses when you come home, etc.)

Oh yes! Long, deep, slow gazes that last three days, a warm body in bed, and when I do bring a man home, she's always game for a threesome!

I don't think my GF has any complaints actually.

She used to always be the active one trying to get me off the couch or go for a walk and I would always say" You want me to walk 2 miles? Forget it!"-lazy smoker that I was.

Now on the other hand, we go for a long bike together at least once a week. I have started her on running and swimming and we do lots more active stuff together. She loves that I am losing weight and also that my moodiness and stressed has evened out. I am too tired most days to get moody anymore. With a little luck and swimming practice, I hope to be cheering her on at her first tri next spring!

Training has been great for our relationship, bringing us closer together and giving us more options of fun things to do that don't cost much money.

8. A never-ending cadre of sweaty clothes.
7. Let's face it, we all get a little too self-centered at some point.
6. TIME.
5. A persistent need to spend more money on equipment and apparel.
4. My tendency to be amorous after early morning bike rides.
3. A running commentary on the health of various body parts (like anybody else cares?).
2. My genteel refusal to eat perfectly good food because "I'm a triathlete in training."

and the top problem (again) ...

1. ... the sweaty clothes (where oh where can a guy put those things?!)

I went on a date last summer, and the guy was talking about a biking trip that he took with his buddies in the mountatins/hills of West Virginia. I was all excited about meeting someone who also liked to cycle and was already imagining our Sunday afternoon training rides together, when he said something that didn't make sense---I think it had something to do with the speed in which he took the curves in the road---and I finally asked, "What kind of bike do you have?" He responded, "A Honda"----Ooops. Wrong kind of bike---

But it would be nice to have a SO with similiar interests.... or who is at least supportive.... those of you who have one, I hope you appreciate it!

I will do 8-10 races this year and some msicellaneous stuff. My fiance will do 4-5 races, so it is a mutual thing. kind of like fitphd, she got me into this and I really got the bug. So now I have the bike(s) on stands in the dining room - no furniture in there - wetsuit in the spare shower, HRM, GOS, IPOD, Visors, shoes, clothes hanging.... all that. The only thing she doesn't like is that I will go about anywhere for a race. She likes to drive 1.5 hours max. If I am going out of town to a meeting... yep, I check the race calendar. Sorta fun just going somewhere you don't know and racing, especially when you go to a meeting, or luncheon, and people ask what you did, or did you see such and such, and you just did an Olympic. People about sh!t their pants.

my future wife DOES kick ass. And for you ladies that don't have or had non supportive men, just look around at the next race. There are plenty of what you are looking for there!

Hey... I see you are in Atlanta... There are lots of big races down there, but was wondering if you ever did St. Anthony's in St. Pete. Awesome race. I did it this last April. Florida has lots of great triathletes, and single guys, so you might look at some races in the sunshine state.
