as for biking drunk, its less likely you are to kill someone else on a bike. These lazy drunks should just walk or run.
That doesn't work, either. Then you get nailed for public intoxication. Oh, come on. If you're running down the street between Midnight and 2am, wearing Newtons, no socks, a one-piece tri kit, Fuel Belt and an Ironman (c) visor - what cop in their right mind is going to bother you?
Good idea. Tactical deception...I like it. However, dressed like that, I'm pretty sure you're going to get your a** kicked at the bar. Not if I have my flat kit.

Member 89 | Subject: RE: Wasteful training.... This is all to funny!!! My question. How much mining for metal and emissions from manufacturing and transportation are produced to build bikes? So I guess walk everywhere barefoot, with hand made clothes from wool I get from my sheep I keep in my bathroom. And all you triathletes are wrecking the water ecosystems by swimming in them with all your chemicals on your bodies!!! |

Expert 1481 | Subject: RE: Wasteful training.... During the week if I'm running or biking I'm doing it out of the Y so that I can shower and save time on my commute. Running to work isn't an option distance wise and biking is only under the best of circumstances so that's out. On the weekends if I'm training alone or locally I do generally run or bike to meet people. However the TRI club I train has people all over the state. If location is chosen where it's 35 miles just to get there what am I going to do? Ride there, do the ride and then bike home? Sure if I'm doing a century it's an option but unlikely. There's two good reason IMO. |

show me where I specifically said I bike to the grocery store. If I need something specific , I will bike out. The end goal is human powered transport. Driving to a location with exception of swimming, to perform the act of human transport just defeats the purpose. |

kind of hard to have sex in the car while driving.
We as athletes are something people look up to. I am into functional fitness.... biking to the grocery store for groceries, etc . If an unfit person sees us biking 1 mile to the store they maybe more prone to do it, rather than racking gear off and on a car, driving out somewhere, makes it less appealing. I lived in holland and it opened up my eyes to how wasteful we are with out convenieces. There ya go.... |

Driving to a location with exception of swimming, to perform the act of human transport just defeats the purpose. And here is where you are confused. Most of us are biking for training/recreation NOT transportation. If you are in a race you do not stop every 2 blocks to wait for a light, or a stop sign, why do that in your training? you are sure going to get some great cardiovascular workout that way huh? If I prefer to drive my car 15 minutes to get to some nice county/state highways/roads that are safe to ride on, do not make me stop every 2 seconds, have good hills, and are more scenic - there is nothing wrong with that at all. If I lived in Holland it might be different but I live in the Seattle Area (which you might note is always praised as one of the most bike friendly areas in the USA) and it is NOT convieniant or worthwhile training to ride in and around the city. Now hopefully I have fed the troll enough he will be full and go away |

I always drop the kids off at the pool before a training session. I tried that, they wouldn't let me leave them... something about having to be 14 or with an adult... I'm pretty sure the one year old knows to not jump in the pool by herself though. |

My wife and her kids and I came up with holiday themed euphemisms for different times of the year; Dropping presents down the chimney Setting off some fire works Hiding some Easter eggs Leaving some flowers for my Valentine There's some trick or treaters at the back door |
