Why do people drive out to an area that they will bike or run....  this annoys me, there is no justifcation. If you are particular about location, bike or run there!!

Perhaps I'm slow but why does it matter to you at all?

They're doing something to better themselves. All else is gravy.

I enjoy running and riding away from the city. I don't like stopping at traffic lights every 100 yards and don't like constantly inhaling exhaust fumes.

Reduce emissions, you are also wasting time. If you are driving an hour to bike an hour.... you have lost 2 hours of your life.

As for getting hit by a car, preplan your route, and obey traffic signals... Most likely the place you are going to will also have hazards

Snerk.  There are plenty of good reasons to drive to a ride or run start.

Why do people post pointless threads? ....  this annoys me, there is no justification.

How about we flay your life open and look for every wasteful thing you do? Oh, but I'm sure you have iron-clad justification for every bit of it...

Let's start with this thread.  To the OP, please explain and justify with appropriate sources and references.  Thank you.

Because I like to spend time with my wife.

I like riding the Natchez Trace as opposed to residential streets and city streets around me.  When I take my car, I knock off what would be about two travel hours.

So to answer your question.  Because training isn't the most important thing in my life.  I love my wife more and those two hours I would otherwise waste on a Saturday mean something to both of us.

Justified enough for you?

Totally! I mean, if all I have to do is plan my route and obey traffic signals to avoid getting creamed by someone texting and driving, I'm set!

kind of hard to have sex in the car while driving.

We as athletes are something people look up to. I am into functional fitness.... biking to the grocery store for groceries, etc .  If an unfit person sees us biking 1 mile to the store they maybe more prone to do it, rather than racking gear off and on a car, driving out somewhere, makes it less appealing. I lived in holland and it opened up my eyes to how wasteful we are with out convenieces.

Hm, sex is the only thing you do with your wife?

And it seems to me that the infrastructure of Holland is vastly different than that of the majority of the United States...

Wait, I thought we were talking about driving to start a ride or run, not riding the fixie to the grocery store....   ??????   Don't mix up trolls, please.  We get confused

And I don't think anyone seeing me riding down the road in my spandex tighties are looking up to me,.  Maybe cursing me for getting in their way
