I had a meniscus repair in Oct 09 and was good to go for IMLP 10. Get back in the pool as soon as possible. Really helped me keep sane and kept things from atrophying (sp?). Good luck.Home from knee surgery. It went very well(or so I'm told). My knee is currently in a traction brace and the nerve block hasn't worn off so I'm feeling very good right now. Start Physcial Therapy on Thursday so heres to a good recovery.
My right ACL. It was the Allograft surgery, replacement with the anterior tibialis tendon from a cadaver. As soon as the wounds heal the Doc told me I can get back in the water. I'm using this period as my 'off season' so I can start getting my base early this year. Me and my doctor were expecting some meniscus damage, but when he got in there he said it was in great shape, so very happy with that. I actually felt bad for my doctor, he hurt his Achilles yesterday doing some pickup intervals in a new pair of Vibriams 5-fingers, so he was limping throughout the morning and I'm told the surgery. It really is nice having a doctor who is an athlete himself(top AG triathlete back in college/med-school). God-speed Recovery!! |

I'll be watching it on my lunch break at the gym across the street on the treadmill! Can't wait! I live in DC and the earthquake interrupted the show so I only saw the first 10 minutes and then they evacuated us. UGH! Was it good? Do you know if they will show it again? Oh I am certain it will air again, and air about 6 or 7 more times. They must've aired Ironman St. George 9 times!!! I'll check my DVR and let you know the next time it airs. Greatest inventions ever were fire, the wheel, electricity, antiseptics, the automobile, and then .... the Digital Video Recorder. |

Expert 696 Sugar Hill, GA | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I watched last night. Not a bad broadcast if you want to watch the pros battle it out. I'm always a bit more interested in the age groupers and there was very little of that in this broadcast. This time I also wanted some commentary on the course or some good footage that would give some indication of what to expect on the course. None of that was included. If you like watching tris on TV, definately try to watch it. If you are hoping that it'll be inspiring leading into IM training, not so much. |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Okay finally going to stop procrastinating and get my hotel booked (hopefully I didn't wait too long)! Any recommendations for lodging that is within walking distance of transition (biggest factor is I do not want to have to drive race morning). Don't know about everyone else, but ever since signing up I can't do a swim/bike/run workout without thinking about IMLP! Probably pretty common for a first timer but I am super excited! |

Extreme Veteran 828 North Shore, MA. | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I missed the boat for next year. I'm planning on being a volunteer next year and getting in for 2013. For those that volunteered last year, do you remember when you could sign up to volunteer - I want to be able to pick my spot! Planning on doing a loop of the course next month just to be sure I won't die out there lol |

Master 1494 Kingston Ontario | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread FYI the run special needs area is an awesome volunteer spot. I did it from 4 -9pm and saw all my peeps several times . It is busy enough but not stressful. It was recommended to me. I signed up in January I think!!! |

Veteran 176 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I'm in for 2012. It will be my second attempt. I attempted CDA 2011 but crashed on the bike at mile 73 and ended up with a grade V A-C collar bone shoulder separation that ended my day. I'm four weeks out from surgery and looking to start back training soon. Signed up for IMLP five days after surgery. Does anyone know how the ride at IMLP compares to IMCDA? Looking at the profile and talking to someone that did both this year seems that IMLP ride is a little harder with a longer hills. |

Veteran 215 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I just saw some pictures of the massive damage they had in Keene and Jay. At least there should be some new roads for the race next year. hopefully it won't change the course too much. They should have plenty of time to fix things but you never know. |

Regular 124 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Hello Everyone....... I`m back for more... Dream Chaser - you going again this year? Anyone from last year coming back? This will be my second IM - first was a few weeks ago in Placid. First timers - IT IS AMAZING. Get ready for an amazing experience (and a lot of training). So, watched Universal Sports - Ironman Lake Placid and at the very end, when the guy who they were following who lost all the weight, finished the marathon, I was just behind him about to finish - awesome. What are the chances? Hopefully i`ll go a little quicker this year (by not spending 29mins in T1). I think i`m about 10-15lbs heavier than i was 5 weeks ago but someone told me you have to get unfit, before you can get fit again. I`m doing that rather well!!!!! Still nursing 3 injuries i had during IMLP last year so that is my excuse for doing nothing :-( OK - i need to get a photo up....

Member 208 Williamsburg VA | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I'm in for Placid. It will be my first iron distance and I'm pretty excited. Volunteered this year and was overwhelmed by the beauty of the area. We made a family vacation of it and the family loved it too! We stayed near Jay this year, but we rented a house in Saranac Lake for 2012. |

New user 64 Delaware | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I am in as well. 4th one but 1st at LP. I did my 1st 3 from 08-10 so this year has been a light training year. (The only nut job race this year is JFK50.) Worked the race this year and loved the area. I rented an apt. which is connected to a house two blocks from the main drag. I used vrbo.com for those who are still looking. Many require 1 week stays. Safe training!! |
