Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So why don't we call it "Hannukah Break" then? Why doesn't Target have a "Kwanza" sale this time of year? The holidays this time of year are not exclusive for Christians and to give the kids time off for "Winter Break" doesn't exclude those who do not celebrate Christmas. I think its dumb to call a Christmas tree a "holiday tree" since it is a symbol exlpicitly associated with the celebration of Christmas, the same way you wouldn't call a menorah a "holiday candle". But to appropraite the entire holiday season as being exclusivly for Christians doesn't seem quite right to me. By calling it a "holiday sale" Target is saying "come shop here no matter which holiday (if any) you celebrate". everyones money is green... According to the news FOF wa boycotting Ford not only because they advertised in gay-oriented magazines but also because they provide benefits for partners. |

Buttercup ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The agitators were the Christians and Jews who were in an uproar over the loss of their holiday (rightly so). The Muslims were very respectful in their request and the first to say "If it costs anyone for us to receive, then we'd rather not receive." That's not what I call agitation. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Isn't FOF the same group who suggested boycotts of Sponge Bob et. al. because they were gay cartoons? Yeah, I'll take everything they say with a house-sized grain of salt after that gem. Seriously, how can you take an organization seriously when they think a sea sponge who wears pants is somehow promoting homosexuality? I'm surprised that FOF hasn't raised a huge alarm on Subaru (maybe they have and I'm just not aware). I'm pretty sure Subaru does specific and targeted advertising in the GLBT community. Apparently, lesbians dig Subarus? |

Yes, and Tinky Winky from Teletubbies (a purple pot bellied androgenous alien of sorts) was apparently homosexual b/c of carrying a purple purse. Give me a break. |

To turn the new document into a joke is to entirely miss it's point. |

![]() | ![]() run4yrlif - I don't think it's possible to be authoritative on the Word of God, unless you're God or Jesus. HIs words were transcribed by man, interpreted and reinterpreted by man in the forms that they exist in today. So Luther introduces Sola Scriptura (by Scripture alone) and dismisses the Sacred Tradition of the Church, which is the authoritative interpretation of Scripture going back to the Apostles, those closest to Jesus. Now you say that Scripture can't be trusted at all because it's open to all sorts of interpretations. To me, Luther's idea seems like having a Constitution without a Supreme Court, and your idea seems like having the Court without the Constitution. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Please raise your hand if you are OFFENDED by the term 'Christmas' to describe the upcoming holiday. Preface: I don't care what Ford or Target do. It grates me when the state capitol in WI calls the christmas tree a HOLIDAY TREE, and when public school districts have HOLIDAY programs that don't include christmas music. (not RELIGIOUS MUSIC, I mean ANY CHRISTMAS music because they likely refer to CHRISTMAS). A friend's son is singing "We're goin' Bear Huntin'" at this year's HOLIDAY program. Per the link below, Federal Law denotes CHRISTMAS DAY as a National Holiday. So secularly, it is a national holiday referred to as Christmas Day, and I think our national and state institutions should refer to it as such. If Target is silly enough to refer to it in another way, fine by me. http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode05/usc_sec_05_00006103... run4yrlif - 2005-12-08 12:38 PM Charlie Brown would be very sad. Yes he would. Because whatever message of inclusion C. Schultz wanted to bring out, would never have been seen if the show was being developed today... http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2005-12-05-charlie-bro... To quote the above article... "We told Schulz, 'Look, you can't read from the Bible on network television,' " Mendelson says. "When we finished the show and watched it, Melendez and I looked at each other and I said, 'We've ruined Charlie Brown.' " |

This actually made me laugh. My former FIL has driven Fords for decades and I can say with authority that he doesn't give a rat's patoot what Dobson thinks, either. Of course, my FIL is a farmer from the cornbelt and you know how liberal and free-thinking those farmies are. He grows soy, for pete's sake! |
