I'm working on it.  Probably would.  I'd want to make sure that I have 10 inches to donate, which I should in a few months if I shaved my head

nbo10 - 2006-01-17 4:47 PM Can't you donate what you have now?

Nope- they only will take 10 inches which it what makes it so hard to donate.

They will take hair shorter than 10 inches, they sell it and use the money to help with the work they do.

I donated 12 inches in March 2005.  I was in the same position, it was driving me nuts, took forever to dry.  It took me 4 months to get the courage to cut it off but I knew that it would make a difference in a childs everyday life.  Gosh imagine being 8 years old and not having hair.

If it's really getting on your nerves get your hair cut now and go with a shorter style...it will grow back!

Ok Janelle, put you hair where your mouth is! If we raise say...$2,000-$5,000 for Charity, will you shave your head??

I'll donate second.

I'm in for $10 if she shaves her head. Laughing

Whats your goal. How much will you shave your head for?

The ball's rolling...Janelle just sent out an e-mail to our TNT folks to see if anyone wants to piggyback. If we can get several people to do it, we can probably get it in the paper (helps to have a wife that edits the independent newsweekly). And Janelle had a great that we could do it at the children's cancer ward at the hospital.

My goal is $3,000.  What I can do is setup my Team in Training web page and that way people can donate online via credit card.  And it'll track my donations for me.  Much easier.

OK Janelle, I did not expect this to be the outcome when I started reading this thread! You are amazing - I don't know if I could do it. You inspired me to measure my hair this morning though. I have always heard of LOL but never thought about donating. I probably have about 4 inches to go as well and was about to get a trim, but maybe I'll wait it out and donate the full 10 inches. I just measured again and it looks like I might only have 2 1/2 inches to go - I think I can make that!

Hang in there. You may remember that I'm doing the same thing...dang, it's tedious taking care of all this hair! Still, when you are so close, you might as well stick it out!

Thanks.  You can visit the website at:

They have pictures and stories of little kids who have received wigs.  Those stories are so touching!

OK...just got off the phone with my wife, and it looks like they are probably going to feature this as part of their "28 Days of Fitness" theme.
