Champion 7821 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Tebow! hrliles - 2011-11-18 1:23 PM I like Tebow and love that he loves GOD. If you don't believe in God or love him, it's gonna suck if you are wrong. I enjoy hearing the so called "intellects descibe how there is no God or why not to beleive in one". It's simple folks, there is good and evil, one will prevail in the end. Enough. Like Tebow, as a QB in the NFL, he's got a LOT of growing to do. You can not play college ball offense and have it work long term, especially crushing blows off those options. I love that he loves G-d too. I just don't care to hear about it, from him or anyone else. |

Regular 78 SC | Subject: RE: Tebow! As a UGA fan, enduring 4 years of the Tebow lovefest from ESPN and Vern Lundquist was enough to make me want to gouge my eyes out. That said, I kinda like Tebow. He seems like a genuine guy and was an amazing college football player. I like him even more now that he's in the NFL. I hope he wins every game, for purely selfish reasons. I love listening to all the experts on the radio and TV pulling their hair out trying to explain how he is winning ball games. "He can't throw, his mechanics suck, completion percentage is awful....but but but....he's just a winner!" They want him to fail so bad, it's just killing them that the Broncos continue to win. I listened to Mike and Mike this morning break down last night's game. It sounded like their heads were going to explode as they tried to wrap their minds around Tebow's 95 yard game winning drive. Extreme Veteran 1260 Miami | Subject: RE: Tebow! scoobysdad - 2011-11-18 1:56 PM Cuetoy - 2011-11-18 12:15 PM To make this comparison fair, you basically have to say that Denver's defense and running game now are on par with Baltimore's in 2000. That's laughable. The ability of this Denver team to win depends far more on the play of its QB than Baltimore did. The Denver D is not the Baltimore 2000 D. The Willis McGahee of 2011 is not the Jamaal Lewis of 2000. Even Baltimore's receivers were better. As you pointed out, Baltimore was already a winning team without Dilfer. And as I recall, Baltimore 2000 had a pretty cake schedule down the stretch. Of course, I'm also not saying Tebow is going to lead the Broncos to the Superbowl or even the playoffs. You're also not considering that Tebow is a second-year QB, getting his first starts in the NFL. Dilfer was a seasoned vet at that point in his career. I think you've got to cut every young QB some slack. scoobysdad - 2011-11-18 12:46 PM uclamatt2007 - 2011-11-18 10:58 AM Really? Compare the Broncos' record before and after the change at the QB position. Nothing else changed, just the record. My only question is why would you send an 8 man blitz on a third down? He hadnt shown the ability to consistently beat you with his throws and a blitz like that is one missed tackle away from a long run. I couldnt believe the play call.
That said, saying that Tebow is 5-1 because of how well he played is is like saying the Ravens won the Super Bowl because of Trent Dilfer. The team has managed to ugly up some games and Tebow has made some plays in the clutch, but I think you have to say that the Broncos have won some of those games in spite of his play rather than because of it. Same thing with the Ravens in 2000. They had lost 3 games in a row and were 5 and 4. After Dilfer took over they didnt loose another came and continued to win the Superbowl, yet you dont see anyone saying that the Ravens won because of Dilfer. I feel confident in betting that by the time the season is over the honeymoon will be over and that he won't start another game again in his carreer unless something freaky happens. I don’t have to say that at all, what I’m simply saying is that teams sometimes win despite of their QB not because of it. In the first 5 games, Denver scored 105 points and gave up 140; since Tebow took over they have scored 100 but given up 107. Clearly, the success that they are having is not so much Tebow but their defense, if you want to go ahead and used the clichés like he inspires the defense and they play for him, he is a leader and has a winning attitude etc you can go right ahead, but the statistics and numbers don’t support the Tebow hoopla. One thing we know about numbers is that in short term they can be defied, but that in the long term they always reflect the reality. |

Elite 6387 | Subject: RE: Tebow! rayd - 2011-11-18 8:12 AM as a Bronco fan that at first thought picking up Tebow was a wasted draft pick...I grown to really like him. Not just as a player but as a person. I really cannot understand why some people do not like him. He's a very positive role model for sports. Much better that then a QB assaulting women or a thug getting away with killing someone. And he does make the game very exciting to watch. The Broncos are 4-1 with him starting this season beating 2-division rivals on their home turf! What's not to like? And I agree with you there... but what I can't understand, other than giving a few good sound bite and like playing football... what is the over the top admiration for??? He's not a bad guy... some think he is the Second Comming. Don't quite get that. The NFL figures out one trick ponies pretty quick. Make him a tight end or running back... but at the quarterback position in the NFL... you actually need a quarter back. |

Subject: RE: Tebow! scoobysdad - 2011-11-18 8:04 AM But the D was the same for both Orton and Tebow. They're winning with Tebow and didn't with Orton. Combined record of the teams Denver played in their first 5 games with Orton as the starter = 29-16. Combined record of the teams Denver played in ther last 5 games with Tebow as the starter = 22-24. Same defense, but you have to admit the defense is playing better the last 5 games. Again...I'm not a Tebow hater...just stating some facts. You mentioned that people should cut Tebow some slack. I actually think that people give him too much credit for what Denver has done recently.

But drop Green Bay out of the teams Orton faced and his opposing teams' record was 20 - 16. A difference, but not a huge one. |

I HATE this argument in sports. "If you forget about x, then y is true." You can't forget about X!!! The schedule is the schedule. The results are the results The record is the record. If bullfrogs had wings they would fly. |

Elite 4547 | Subject: RE: Tebow! Loved the performance in Tebow Time, a.k.a. last half of the 4th quarter for the Broncos. I feel good for the guy. I'm not a religious guy, I just like watching exciting football and gutsy performances. The fact Tim seems to walk the talk (unlike so many other preachy athletes) is refreshing. One other thing I like about the Broncos winning is that it guarantees their finishing at 6-10 or 7-9 will give my Vikes a better shot at a Top-5 1st round pick. One more thing to keep in mind...Tebow is still a terrible passer. Great runner, terrible passer. The schedule's gonna get more difficult for the Broncos. One thing's for certain, like I said at the beginning of the season, he's the smarter play at qb for the Broncos based on $$$$$$. Win or lose, fans want to see this guy play football. They want to buy his jerseys. Roll with it Denver!!! |

Tebow is a great guy who can and has motivate his team. However his long term prospects to be a successful qb in the NFL are nearly zero. He simply cannot throw. He has no patience in the pocket and runs far to quickly. This may work now but will come to haunt him ala Vick. He will simply take too much of a beating and since he can't throw he won't have anything left. Hard work and heart can only get you so far. I really really wish he would have been the starting QB when they played the Pack.... |

I just heard the best response to this argument on ESPN:
Vince Young once won 8 games in a row. |
