Photos from yesterday's ride, as requested by Manatee Melody.  Nothing too scenic but here you go!

Country road - Olive Chapel Extension and Tody Goodwin

Country roads (above)

Deer

Three deer that I saw on my ride.  I saw these deer on Tody Goodwin Road yesterday morning. I stopped my bike to take the picture and of course a car went by, causing them to skedaddle.

Blueberries and flag at Bonsal

I took this photo near the end of my ride.  It's at a crossroads called Bonsal.  I was trying to get the blueberry sign to the left and the flag on the right but the flag came out itty bitty.

Been wondering why it's been so quiet--haven't received any emails that thread has any new posts.  Then it occurred to me that I didn't toggle the email notification since we went to part trois.  Duh.

Since when are Manatees quiet?

Allen, congrats on the run, can't wait to read the RR.

What she said :-)  Congrats!

Sorry I feel like I've been incommunicado but seriously I have been an emotional basket case!  Went to the doctor on Friday and he said how on earth have I been coping like that for so long - replaced medication starting immediately and I feel completely different - we will wait a month and see but fingers crossed the emotional meltdowns have ceased.

Friday afternoon picked up the Trek Mad One!!!  So excited, the LBS owner was also very excited - met the director of Trek Australia who was down visiting.  It was a perfect two hours!

Wish the weather would let me out on the new beast - but it's initiation will be on the drainer

Saturday flew to Adelaide at 6am - optimistically packed my running gear but it was soooooo wet and cold it didn't happen.

No worries - today I started Fink 20 weeks out from HIM - I feel like i'm back on it!  Went for a 45min run at lunchtime, managed to miss the rain but would have gone anyway - I feel all committed again!  Lower back is a bit sore, will stretch that out before swim squad tonight.

So - now I feel normal again, I shall be posting frequently as I won't be clouded by tears!

So, I realize that one ride is longer, and one is at higher elevation.  But which ride would you consider more difficult, based on the elevation profile?

I am loving everyone's pics. There are some really nice looking areas all over this world, aren't there? Keep em coming.

Allen - I enjoyed your RR and the pics. It sounds like you really had a good time at the run. I have to agree with Ann-Marie. Are you sure this was in England?

Tracy - How cool is it to find new, perfect pavement? A little surprise bit of joy, no?

TJ - The area you are in is soooo nice. It is definitely on the list of places to visit.

Janyne - I thought the deer pic was pretty cool too! I love seeing the wildlife when I am out.

Kirsten - The countdown of your ride to #1 was good. One tired cyclist indeed! Those elevation rides both look tough to me. Of course, I ride at sea level with a max climb of 50 - 70 feet over any given bridge, so I'm the last one to be judging the challenge of hills.

Enjoy the start of the week everyone. I am off to get reamed out by one of our clients. The day will improve once I get that off my plate. Ah well, I probably wouldn't appreciate life if it were all rainbows, lollipops, and unicorns.

Have a good one!

Pretty pretty!

Keep watching that knee, sir. (Now I realized I'm an idiot and forgot to give you more info ... thwack me with a flipper)

Glad you took it easy on it last week. Keep on doing so. You may also find shin stretches (like sitting on your knees with your feet pointed underneath) and calf stretches helpful.

Janyne - Love the deer pic.  I have the same trouble getting pix of animals.  I do have lizard pix though...

Tracy - Beautiful pix.  I can almost smell the greenery.  Wisconsin is stunning! We use to take our boys to the Dells when they were little

Kirsten - Wow, just wow.  The only river I cross is the Rio Grande and it's not so "grande" by the time it gets to central NM.  And the bridges, wow!

Kirk - I love beaches! I've never really swam in the ocean, just splashed around, but I love to run on the beach!

Yanti - Glad you're laying low.  I squeezed in some time to watch TdF piglets too.  I wanted to smack the camera-man that caused one of the accidents.  Seriously? If you respect the sport enough to be there STAY OUT OF THE WAY!!!

I also watched the US Olympic tryouts for swimming, track and gymnastics. It was fun watching S/B/R on one day in 3 separate events.  I thought of Salty while watching the track tryouts (jealous).

Happy Monday Manatees!

Jo - glad you're feeling better! Looking forward to encouraging you as you train for your HIM!

Kirsten - If the elevation is a non-issue for you then I think the lower elevation ride looks "harder" because it has steeper climbs.  The one at elevation has a less steep climb and appears to have more downhill time.  Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Yanti, I figured it was an overuse issue, we have had to be riding in a fairly small area with a stop sign/light every block so a lot of starting and stopping on a heavy bike with equipment...  yeah caused a bit more stress than usual much better now.  Good news is this week and next at least I am getting training for an investigator slot and will get a much easier schedule and no biking in the 100+ heat

Love, love, love everyone's pics!!  Super!

Here is mine from my run Friday evening on one of my favorite trails (rail trail) and the other shots are from the bike race I worked at on Saturday since my own ride didn't pan out the way I wanted it to this weekend.  Stopped to try to get what would've been an awesome pic of a great blue heron perched in a tree hanging out over the creek, but as herons are wont to do, it flew til I got my phone out.  But the pics from the race are very indicative of much of the scenery is around my area.  Farms, corn, crops.  I will still try to get the pic I really wanted to get sometime in the future.

The Olympic Trials were one of the coolest things EVER. OMG it was just heaven! I have been in 4 states in one week and am dead tired and ready to spend some time at home but the weekend was just amazing. The whole thing was just crazy-exciting. Of course, I was partial to the women's 200m if I absolutely HAD to pick my favorite thing.

Here is a pic from my training run in Seattle Friday:

and here are some pics from the trials Saturday:

Here is a pic while running the PRE trails with the Brooks team:
