That's not stupid long. You'd be doing well to finish in 10-12 hours for a 50-miler.
My God, I can't even contemplate a 50-miler..... then again, a year ago I couldn't contemplate a HM, so it's all perspective, I guess.

I'm pacing a friend doing a 100-mile run the weekend after this coming one. Did it last year, too, she finished in 28hours... There is typically a 30-hour cut off for 100-milers. Crazy people - love 'em!

That's one thing I'll never do!

I ride with a guy that does 500 mile rides and/or 24/48 hr rides (as far as you can in 24/48 hours).  Stuff like that is still daunting to me and makes me think IM's are easy in comparison.  It least your done in 12-15 hrs.

Attention TAN:

Should you ever find yourself with a hole in your femoral artery, listen when the doctor says not to lift anything heavier than ten pounds until it heals.

That is all.

Ummm, yes... that makes for a VERY bad day!

Being that you're still with us to type, I'll take it that things are at least working out?

Who has the time for all of that madness.  I have to get up at 5 am just to find two hours to train.

That's what we do. Then after work we go for up to two hours if needed. The training plan we're working off of has us doing long rides on the weekends. So it's not that bad. Plus you can make time. Lots of people have lots of responsibilities and still do IMs or ultramarathons. Ask 1TT -- he has like 12 kids and a wife and still does one every other year or so.

Listen to the doc.
My dad had a femoral artery embolism (I think?) repaired last year and to do it they went in through each of his legs up into the abdomen to the site. One leg healed just fine, the other didn't. He also doesn't like to listen to doctors

It was problematic for him the entire summer - at one point, he had the great fortune of spending an entire day sitting with his leg up and a freaking sandbag on his inner thigh to keep adequate pressure applied. It ended up taking like three or four months, but it eventually healed.

Kido,

Your new Avi freaks me out.  It scares me, and Im not even afraid of the dark!

On a side note, today and yesterday are the 19th anniversary of the fiasco in Mogadishu, Somalia that claimed the lives of some of my buddies.  Kinda ready for the day to be over.  At least it will end with football and the Mrs!

I disagree strongly.

I dig the new avi.  It inspires a certain "I don't know what."

(We don't use that french jibberish in my family...)
