tough...tattoo w/tan lines or bike w/pigtails?

I vote for pigtails

Mmmmmm, pig tails or pink see through speedos......can't decide, think my head will explode trying ( where's Salty or Jo when you need someone to point out blatant double entendres).

No need, you just did and after all I'm here

The Speedos are see-through?!?! Awesome!

kgore - 2013-03-07 3:15 PM Well, I officially got the day okayed at work. In October I will be doing my very first half marathon. I am freaking out a little.  That is all.

You'll do great!  Heck, didn't you just complete a 10 miler?  It's only a 5k more than that and you have six months to train for it.  Piece of cake.

P.S.  When is graduation?

Totally agree with Janyne, Kate - you have a great workout ethic and already have legit half-training miles under your belt.  You will be ready to rock and roll well in advance of Oct 13!! Just need to start exercising that self confidence more Wink

Guilty pleasure song: right now, probably Taylor Swift's "trouble" - I didn't want to admit I liked it, but I do! I just can't stand that girl, though.

NOT guilty pleasure because I totally embrace my love of him: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, who I will see perform in August at Fenway Park with Jay Z! Just got tix this morning, wooooohooooo!!! (although not gonna lie, I do not like Suit & Tie - here's hoping the rest of his new stuff is better)

That will be awesome. JT is extremely talented. Very cool he and Jay will be touring together. I don't love suit and tie either but it might grow on me. He just released another single but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.

there's one called Mirrors available as a single on iTunes.  Just played a demo, but it's better than suit and tie.  Still really mellow though.  I hope the full album has something with a real beat to it.  But you know at the show he'll do all the hits!

Man, so much to catch up on, jumping lagoons (good one, Stacey or Erin, I forget who said that) and all!

I will try to get a decent pic of Rico to add to our bike photo portfolio and maybe my roadie, too.  Yanti, please take care of yourself, we need you and awesome pigtailed pics of you!

I know we were talking about how much we all hate cancer (obvi) so I just wanted to point everyone's attention to the following:

Potential sequestration cuts to NIH and NCI cancer funding

There are a bajillion places to cut the budget, but funding for cancer research is not one of them.  One the website that I've linked, there is a place to put in your zip code and send a message to your Congress reps.  it's a pancreatic cancer action network site, so they focus on pancreatic cancer in their message, but it still applies to any cancer research.

This cause is near and dear to my heart, as I lost both my parents to cancer (brain, pancreatic).  Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my dad's death, so this news is particularly upsetting.

Thank you!!

Hi.

I have some good news and bad news. I went to see my physio' again yesterday, and he finally gave me the all clear on my patellar tracking issues Laughing. It seems my inner quads have now become stronger and also my connective tissue has started to get tougher. Therefore, I have been discharged and am free to injure myself now (kidding). The bad news was that I asked him about a "niggle" I experience whilst biking outside. Turns out I've torn my hamstring Cry, so no cycling for me and plenty of those horrible hamstring stretched that make your legs wobble for a bit until it heals. At least it doesn't affect me getting out and running/swimming though.

Chris: Bacon, how do I eat mine? Draped over succulent chicken breast, smothered in BBQ sauce with loads of Caerphilly cheese melted over. Mmmmmmm Laughing

Bike, will be using a 2nd hand Specialized Elite for this year with a view of upgrading next year. Triathlon is soooooo expensive. There are just too many things to spend money on.

On another note, thought you'd be interested in this show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01r0fv3

It's the only country music show I get to hear over here. The choice of music this week was very varied and good. Really liking The Old Crow Medicine Show at the moment. You may have to skip through the news (about 5 mins), but then you're onto ad free music

Note: The volume on the player goes all the way up to 11, someone's nod to Spinal Tap LOL

Salty: Ref SXSW, I heard a guy on the radio that sounded real good that will be playing at Austin.

Yanti, hope you heal soon

To continue on with the music thread, I wondered what everyone's guilty pleasure song was. You know, the one you really shouldn't admit to liking, but you can't help singing when it comes on the radio I think that may tell more about us than we'd care to say LOL.
My guilty pleasure is Erasure, Give a little respect :D

A couple of things jumped out at me from your post:

1.  how can you run with a torn hamstring?  I hope you can, but in my experience with hamstring issues, running is really painful.  Good luck and heal quickly.

2.  this may be the most important point.  Unless your "bacon" is different from the "bacon" I was served in Ireland and England, you don't have bacon, you have ham.  It is good, but it is not BACON Smile  you need a trip to the states to see the difference!

When I worked at a PT clinic in college a woman came in with complete hammy tear. It was the worst thing I had ever seen in terms of muscle tears. Her whole leg from knee up to her rear was BLACK. Ugh.

It appears as though we don't have our trusty racer/injury/whatever else list. Sooo who is all racing? I know Chad and I are doing a HM tomorrow!

I'm doing it as a no-taper tune up B race for Boston, working out my race plan now.
