10.7 miles - Purpose 1: long aerobic run. Purpose 2: Hills. If I want to sign up for TN Ragnar, I've got to run up as many hills as possible. Accomplished both although I didn't go quite as long I wanted. Additionally, my legs just weren't there today so I had to keep more of a mental focus and just HTFU.

Tomorrow will be an rest day and a day to enjoy hubby's birthday. Then hopefully I can move intervals up from Tuesday to the holiday so I won't have to get up so early in the morn on Tues.

So I started today with 3.3k. Purpose was my long run for the week (ok stop laughing now ) and to concentrate on relaxing my feet. I have a tendency to lift my toes away from the sole of my shoes which makes the soles of my feet sore and my calve muscles very tight.

At last, September. I did a 10k trail race today with the purpose of getting through it as I haven't gone that far for a couple of months. It was fine till the last mile - very traiiy ( ie uneven) and a big down then up. On the plus side i finished, and actually overtook a girl at about mile 3 so that made me 2nd last. A personal achievement!

Ran 26.38 miles today in the MT Nittany marathon. Purpose of this run was a race and to see if I could run a marathon hung over, I had a good 15 beers Saturday and was feeling rough this morning. Both were accomplished.

Another brick today with 4 miles off an hour on the trainer.  I took about 5 minutes to slowly get ready for my run so transition to running smoothly was pretty quick.

Purpose was really more to keep the legs loose for a long run tomorrow.

Today I ran a whole mile as a recovery after my exertions yesterday. Really difficult and really slow, I had to stop - I had no legs at all. No spring, no bounce just quad ache and a painful bit on the sole of my foot I've never had before.
This month may be longer than I had at first thought!

Checking in for the last four days:

Friday, 20

Saturday, 2

Sunday, 10

Today, 12

Purpose for all of these runs was building base--long and slow--for all the double-digit runs.  Saturday run was just playing--experimenting with some lean, arm position and did some barefoot grass stuff.  I'm a very different sprinter than a long distance runner.  Sprinting feels very natural, distance still doesn't always.  Would like to find my form quicker and keep it longer during my LSD runs.

I'm in...a bit late, it's already the 2nd and I haven't run this month, but I did 14 on the 31st and since Salty started this in August I'm sayin' it counts. Hot, humid (for SoCal) and jumped into the ocean afterwards, but removed running shoes, socks and ipod.

Great job everyone.  That's a nice stretch of miles Switch.

My LSD of 8.5 miles was short of planned due to wife anxious to do something fun today.  She said be back in an hour and I'll be ready to go.  I was like no way I'm getting 15 today.  Just as well as I was pretty tired.  Can't wait to get back to work tomorrow so I can take it easy.Smile

6 miles today.
Purpose-let some sadness out through exercise therapy. I made a bad decision on a dog and after 4 months with her took her to a more appropriate home for her today. Glad I have training in my life, helped some for this one day. Tomorrow I will repeat etc etc.

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.
