OMG well then SUPER-ER good luck to Josh 1.0 in popping his tri-cherry tomorrow!  Like most "firsts," it'll probably be awkward and wet in strange places ... just remember to COVER WITH LATEX (swim cap)...

Wow ... we will have a gritty group of REAL triers.

if nothing else, I'll do a trainer ride tomorrow night when I get home. My shift is 7AM-7PM and by the time I give report and drive home it's after 8 PM when I get in, not much daylight to work with. I'll go put the Schwinn on the trainer now so it will be ready and there won't be any excuses from me cause I know you'll be hunting me like a dog! Wish the hour I rode today counted, sure did a ton of hills in that neighborhood I rode through

If I ride tomorrow it'll just be a bonus. I did just get my new bike shorts, so I'll be tempted.  No need to hunt me down until Sunday, that's when my ride is scheduled.

I'm not ashamed to kick a man when he's down...

While you hypchondriacs were sleeping, looks like someone from barlo rode by and took a quick swim in your kiddie pool...

Oh, and by the way...

(good luck getting your a$$ kicked in the challenge everyone).

I could say a lot of nasty things about Lance right now - but I won't because I don't want people here to hate me. Seriously though, I just don't like the guy.

I switched and did my long ride today, so that's one in the books. Almost an hour and a half, nice and easy.

My son wants to type:

1st of 10 rides completed as part of a sprint tri.

14 miles of rolling hills, more info in training log/race report.

Oh yeah, and my bike might be ruined from the accident (read the RR for more info).

Hey all--super good luck with your rides and I'm waiting with baited breath for Josh 2.0's race report and Josh 1.0's cherry-poppin' race report.

I put in my first ride today--just 15 minutes (so I was a little tired from the TEN MILE RUN I did right before it)--but it was so great just to cruise and enjoy myself.  I was in flipflops .  But with a helmet, always.

Also, I really am a complete newbie--I did my two triathlons, both of which had significant hills, in the SAME GEAR the whole way through--I still don't know how to shift gears.  However, just doing a nice smooth ride today on a deserted street to get the minutes in gave me the perfect opportunity to play around with the gears and start figuring out the intricacies of my bike.  The dudes at the LBS did point out that it's a pretty high-end, sensitive bike and you really have to know the gears, how that individual bike responds, and how to finesse 'em.  Okay, okay!

Couldn't ride today - LBS mechanic tightened my brakes too much when they tuned it up this morning, which I obviously didn't discover until I tried to ride it - so had to go all the way back to the bike store. Read my log for the full details. Will have to ride double tomorrow or something.

WAY TO GO JOSH!!! That's a helluva race. FORTY SECOND T2? What are you ON? Better not tarnish the entirely-dope-free record of this pristine team

I am soooo sorry about your Cannondale ... I assume you will need to replace only the wheel (hopefully)?

Chrissy, better luck with the brakes tomorrow. Have a nice tea in the middle of your ride and maybe a bit of a run to the tea shop and back so it's actually a brick and you can count 2 rides, ha ha!

So for some BarloNews: Enrico Degano was first off the blocks so to speak in the prologue (just like us!!!), sweet succulent squirt Geraint Thomas (youngest '07 TdF rider) placed highest for Team Barlo, in 45th. Effen awesome for a newbie!!!

EDITORIAL NOTE: I promised CSC a one-day respite from heckling because of their good show in prologue.  Actually it was just an opportunity to remind them of Degano's great opener and our continuing enthusiasm, but nevertheless.

40 second T2 is about par for me. My lowest of the season was :38, and it would have probably broken that had I not taken 2 or 3 seconds longer than usual to get on my race # belt.

As far as the Cannondale, we are hoping it is just the back wheel, but it may be the frame itself which means no bike for a while. I'll know more monday. I'm going to break out the Mountain Bike for the rest of the challenge if I have to!

Okay, did that first ride. Split it up between the trainer and the road. Riding on the trainer is more boring than running on the treadmill (at least on the treadmill I look out the gym window at the ducks in the pond--only view from the trainer is my garage wall)

Hello Barloworld! This is Dolores. Man, you guys are craaaaazzzzzzzzy! and I love it! I want to second the nomination for TriAya as our beloved team leader. She will do a great job - I know from personal experience. I am a total newbie with one tri under my belt just a month ago - the Danskin. What fun. Since then I bought a road bike and love it so much - its a Raleigh Cadent 2007. A sweet little blue bike. I've found I am a different person when I ride as opposed to when I run. It's kinda scary! I am committing to at least 6 rides for the tour - if I get more in I'll be sure to post.

GO!! GO!! GO!!

Hi Team - there has been a query with regard to cycle commutes, should they be counted as one stage or two?

Ive already stated that two a day workouts are fine i.e a spin class in the morning and a road ride at night would be two stages BUT a commute could be argued to be different as technically you HAVE to ride both ways...

Personally I think it comes down to how you counted it when you committed your stages... as long as you state how you are counting your commute in the beginning and stick to it I have no major objections but if anyone has a strong opinion regarding this please let me know.

Thanks

Cat

PS: HUGE congratulations to everyone who has already got a ride in for the challenge
