Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey guys. I just read the original thread about this challenge and saw this:
Is this still part of the plan. Sorry, I didn't report this. Any other specs I should be tracking? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Way to go everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job!!!!! I did my third "ride" today when I commuted to and from work. I normally take a longer route, but wimped out this morning because of the heat and humidity. A cold front moved through and now the temps are great, but I took the short way home because I have ribs cooking in the crockpot all day!!!!! Edited by drdi 2007-07-11 4:42 PM |

Hi - the stages cycled are the only compulsory... everything else is optional! There has been a strong preference for keeping with the theme of the challenge to compare the efforts of BT to the pro peloton BUT its all just cream... Only stages are needed for the challenge. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello teamies! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I just finished my 6th stage of the challenge. Next week will be a kind of recovery/taper week getting ready for my race on Sunday where I am doing the bike leg for a relay team in a sprint tri. I'm really happy that I have finished 4 weeks of heavy (for me) riding where I averaged around 100 miles/week. I think a slacker week is in order! I'll still do some shorter rides, but nothing big. |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Count me for 2 more rides this week totaling 60 or so miles. |
![]() ![]() |
Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow, I just couldn't ride that much! I am up to 6 rides overall and about half as many miles... and I'm tired - how sad ![]() |
![]() ![]() |
Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Three rides this week. Friday (15 minutes, 4 miles);-), Saturday (2 hours, 32 miles) and Monday (40 minutes, 11.15 miles) So I have a grand total of 4 stages out of 10 completed. Hope everyone has a great bike week... |

Yo team! Here's where we're at right now, as of 6pm central time. If you see a discrepancy give me a holler. And TexOma, I wasn't able to find your goal for total tours, can you let me know about that? |
![]() ![]() |
Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have one more ride to add to this weeks totals. Rode home from work for 10 more miles. So that should be 5 rides total. |
![]() ![]() |
Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I missed one somewhere - maybe from last week because of not realizing exactly which days you counted. I have done 6 rides total. 7/7; 7/9; 7/11; 7/12; 7/14; 7/15 freckle face - 2007-07-16 6:02 PM

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi - there has been a few requests in the last 24 hours to STOP posting live TDF updates in team threads. This is due to a lot of people wanting to watch the action later in the day WITHOUT knowing the results. Would enough people be interested in taking the live action related discussions to another thread out of the team threads to avoid this issue? Team leaders can you please let me know? I must admit Im probably the most guilty of this as I genuinely want teams to know whats happening with their pro counterparts to really get into it... and with me watching it live til 2am then heading straight it bed I get REALLY excited and post results... But... its more a time difference related head spin. I totally understand having to delay watching the action... I know not everyone can devote their whole life to TDF action for a month! So my suggestion... is this.... 1) No results from the previous nights stage will be posted in any Team thread until the next days stage starts... giving everyone 24 hours to watch the action or at least KNOW what to expect 2) Set up a seperate TDF Challenge - Live Action thread for teams to talk about their pro riders... (if there is enough interest) 3) If teams are happy to have stage updates posted in their Team thread let me know and I will continue - otherwise 24 hour code of silence applies to EVERYONE taking part in the challenge What do you all think? |
![]() ![]() |
Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I like that idea, to have a seperate thread. I mean I do watch the Tour in the morning so it doesn't matter to me. But yes to help everyone else. |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() | ![]() Fine by me. I generally watch it early or check race results on the web during the day. |
![]() ![]() |
Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yes, a 24 hour code of silence is most excellent! |
![]() ![]() |
Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok as I mentioned earlier I have set up a thread to discuss the results of your team in the tour... its in the challenge forum and I suggest you use it to talk about the teams successes and make sure everyone else see's it!! As I suggested earlier there is to be no talking about the previous stage in team threads UNTIL the next stage commences.... Please get in on the action its been very entertaining so far, and remember to take it in the spirit of fun and team spirit it is intended. Happy Cycling Cat |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great work Captain, Go Discovery. I will be riding to work on Thursday and rides this weekend. My hills in Wausau are babies compared to the alps. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well teamies, I had an interesting ride after work this evening. Got home, fed the dogs and did the chicken chores and ran into the house to check the weather radar. A squall line associated with a cold front was out over the open waters of Lake Erie and heading this way. Let's just say I don't make a very good weather forecaster. I figured I had a about 1 hour before the rain would reach my house. I was off by about 15 minutes. I think I was at about the 1/2 point when I saw the storm clouds coming and realized I probably was going to get wet. So as I was pedaling my arse off about 1 mile from my house, the winds started to gust and the rain started to pelt down sideways. The torrential downpour waited until I stored my bike, but by the time I ran to the house, I was soaked. At least having that big black storm cloud behind me kept me working hard. Ended up with a 16.3 mph average and while that may seem slow to most, let me just say that you won't see me pushing my heavy steel touring bike much faster. (I think I did it once in a race.) Happy biking all! |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() man rough night to say the least with the storms and such. Hopefully this weekend brings better weather? |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Woah, drdi! That sounds scary. We had beautiful last night, but I only biked about .8 miles (to a friends house and back for BBQ). Sad |
