I personally like using caffiene while racing, and have found the protein helps me from getting hungry. Some of the things I've read on endurance events have indicated protein helps you keep going. Anyhow, works for me. I would suggest that you call them. Infinit is VERY user friendly. They will talk you through it and help you customize your own blend and if it doesn't work, they will re-work it with you. BT performance members get a discount too. |

The rates were much cheaper then trying to go into Panama City and the drive isn't too bad. According to google maps it is 9.1 miles from the PC Airport to the race site. They estimate 19 minutes.Let’s talk airports…..anyone else flying into Panama City Airport? I assume this is a VERY small airport ? How far is the airport from the race site ? |

Veteran 169 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread hi everyone, I hate to say but my IMFL race needs to be put on hold until 2010. Saturday I was on a 112 mile training ride and around 30 miles i crashed HARD. Not sure what happened as cant recall....woke up to 4 emt's about foot from my face. As soon as they tried to get me on the board i screamed out...my back, my back. Turns out i fractured right colarbone, a rib & fracture of my T-12 vertebrae (middle back). Spine DR said all should heel by themselves and colarbone - 6 - 8 weeks and back could take 4 months. i hope to see you all in FL but it will unfortunetly be from the sidelines They let me out of the hospital last night. Elite 2998 Fishers, Indiana | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread LESS THAN 6 WEEKS! 40 days!! Just a couple more weeks of adding to the bank before we enter the "Taper Zone" (cue Twilight Zone music). Hope everyone had a great and safe weekend of training. I ended up having my biggest weekend yet (not biggest week--just weekend): 100mile ride followed by 7 mile brick run on Sat; 20 mile run this morning. I bought some of the Zoot Recovery tights and was skeptical, but I think I'm becoming a believer. Between those and the 40lbs of ice I took a bath in, recovery is going nicely. I am SO excited about this race and look forward to meeting all of you. We'll have to find a way to link up at the athlete's dinner or some other time, at least for a photo op. In a couple of weeks (not yet, too soon) we ought to post pics of what we think we'll be wearing so we can spot each other on the course. |

Extreme Veteran 399 Long Beach, CA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Biggest training day so far yesterday. 100 miile bike, 3 mile brick run followed by 4200yd. swim. Whew! Can't believe I have to do that 2 more times before the taper. Took a "peak" at my taper weeks yesterday don't look all that restful to me - heh! Guess it's all relative - looking forward to meeting everyone in person too. I agree w/ Brittany on a BT meet up. Happy training IMFL peeps! |

It's the final 2 days of my recovery week and I loved it!! Back up to speed for the next 3 weeks then it's time to TAPER!!! Im nervous at the thought that taper time is so close! Im gonna be a basket case as we get closer... BTW, Brittany - thanks again for volunteering on the T shirts |

Extreme Veteran 572 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Ok, next year I am going to have to follow an official program. I kinda just made up one for myself based on my schedule and I am feeling nervous. I don't know if anyone gets this but I feel great when I am working out but like a sloth when I am not. When I train for stand-alone mary's I usually feel fit even when I am not working out. With the Ironman I feel real strong while working out and immediately after but pretty much feel like junk the rest of the time. I am feeling less and less fit although I seem to be putting up faster and faster times. Recently I have felt heavier but step on the scale and have lost a couple pounds. This whole experience has just been very unusual. Terrified about the 40 day mark. I really hope that I can have a strong day on Nov 7. I have a shorter taper then most so I will have an extra week or two but it seems like it is all downhill from here. Good luck to all and Happy Sunday! |

Extreme Veteran 572 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Quick question to those that have gone and practiced on the course. On google maps it looks like the course is nothing but highways. How did you go out and train on the course without getting killed? I did a "street view" and it looks like highways with a small shoulder. Did you just stay on the shoulder and have cars whiz past you at 80 miles an hour? I was thinking about heading down for a preview weekend but that kinda scared me. |

Veteran 215 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Did Chesapeakeman too yesterday. What a great training race for Florida. What was up with that swim???? I did 40mins in the Choptank for Eagleman and it took me 1:41 yesterday!! I am so glad I did this race though. Major confidence boost. Took a short little run afterwards and the legs left good. I really felt bad for those runners yesterday though. The rain started to pick up in the evening. |

The other roads the cars are really not an issue. |
